Mike I’m not at sure what you are comparing, my wife and I (both 58 years young) have been doing OMAD for over 6 years and love it although I’m one of the rare breeds that can eat enough food at one sitting to gain weight! Having said that I’m now doing OMAD carnivore and my wife is more OMAD KETOvore, she has no problem staying skinny as she doesn’t gain weight unless she eats multi-meals a day.
Having said that we drink our tea in the morning (no food) and we discuss what we are both doing that day, what will have for dinner, walk the dogs several times as we enjoy the sun, each other, then we both go do our work on our ranch. At “lunch time” we will have a bulletproof decaf cap with our body ketones roaring then work for several more hours til dinner where we eat our days food.
We do not sacrifice together time as a result of only eating once a day, we are both retired and now more than ever getting together with neighbors for a meal, church function meal, a dinner out with friends, is what we look forward to but don’t intake all those extra junk calories that multi meals represent that put extra weight on. In fact we had our pastor and family over last night for dinner and the pastor who along with his wife eat the SAD lamented at how tired they were and they eat several times a day! lol I think blaming “OMAD” for lack of social interaction is like blaming cow flatulence for global warming!
    Keep the great content going!

I done OMAD for 6 months. I really enjoyed it as I love food. I like a meal to be alot of food and not stressing about portions etc.
I had to stop though. Even though I was getting 200g of protein in I couldn't gain any muscle at all. I was training hard 4 times a week and eating in a small surplus. I done a dexa scan before and after 6 months and my muscle mass never increased at all. I was kinda upset as I really did enjoy OMAD. I just feel like training hard 4 times a week only to maintain mass is such a waste.
I stopped OMAD and now do intermittent fasting. 2 meals a day. First meal at 1pm and another meal around 7-8pm. I also done this for 6 months and my lean mass went up by 6lbs. A huge difference.
Omad is great for staying lean and dieting. It will maintain your muscle mass but you don't gain any.
2mad for me works much better. I still remain lean but I am getting mtor spikes twice a day now and this is now allowing me to build mass.
I have all my results if anyone wants to see them. The dexa scans 6 months apart.

It just depends on the person, though. As a 50 yr. old female trying to get at a healthy weight. If I do that length of fasting, my cycle will dysregulate, and cortisol will surge. It can really be helpful in many instances, but just not where I am in life right now. I tend to go with a classic 16:8 fasting schedule, which serves me well, so long as I get about 120-130g of protein in. Riding a bicycle is a great way to exercise. Ebikes are bringing many older adults back to cycling.
Cities need to do more to encourage people to ride bicycles. Safe protected bike lanes and trails are needed so adults and children can ride safely. Speak up for bicycles in your community. Bicycles make life and cities better. Ask your local transportation planner and elected officials to support more protected bike lanes and trails. Children should be riding a bicycle to school and not be driven in a minivan. Be healthier and happier. Ride a bicycle regularly.

You can just movie Your eating window according to when Dinner Plans! Sometimes I can eat for 2 to 3 hours when having friends over, You can eat 2,000 to 3,000 calories, So as far as OMAD being hard to do long term, I disagree, Your Wife who I believe was doing OMAD, was incredibly Muscular and Ripped, So You can mold it to Your Goals like a Powerful lever, Oh maybe YOU are loosing to much weight well just incorporate another meal until You gain the weight you want back, or Maybe getting to Ripped just and more Calories or a meal or shorten Your eating window, Once your are Metabolically Flexible and You are happy the sky is Your limit, Pulling different Levers when Your preferred desire is REACHED, So I love this Concept.

Recently, I see many news articles saying that walking is a good exercise. It depends, I think. If a person can walk at a moderate pace, say 3 mph, it would have some benefit. But if a person can barely walk at 1 mph relying on a walker, walking is not a good exercise. In such case, they need to, first, build muscle to be able to stand straight, keep balance, and squat and work on upper body strength training..

Good perspective to the overall longetivity. Talking about Bryan Johnson, he is bit of a special case.. 1st of all he eats 3 meals in the morning, not 1.. He does eat in the evening when in the social environment as it makes everyone else uncomfortable (his words)., but what he is really doing is more an experiment, what is humanly possible, giving the latest science knowledge.. I dont think he wants to set a trend. I give him credit as I dont think that many of us would be able to follow this sortof strict lifestyle.

They have a place, but i wish people would connect deeper to their own internal voice of what makes them feel good. Fasting is a tool that helped teach me to learn to listen to what my body needs. I love what you said about meals and community building! Agree with your thoughts on prioritzing strength, and would add a few components to that. Physical, mental, and spiritual stregnth are keys to healthy humans. Thanks and good luck with your book!

So much common sense! I have a question about the 8000 steps, I average about 4000 steps a day. The AHA recommends doing 150 mins of zone 2-3- or 75-mins zone 4-5. If I can do that, would that compensate for less steps? I did intermittent fasting and keto briefly, I lost 9 # very quick! Gave up my toast twice a day. When I say this to people the response is, "that's great". I'm thinking do you do not see me. I weight 99#! That's how programmed we are that wt loss must be good. I am back up to 108#. I did it to cut carbs because my A1c was 5.9. Try to eat more protein now and don't fast on purpose per Dr. Lyons and Don Layman since I am >60 so too old for that! I am working on the push-ups.
