Uncle Roger is just a fictional character, with a made up accent. He is actually a stand-up comedian named Nigel Ng. :)
Getting weak for divorced man and buget cook, it´s so funny but also so honest!
Your pure content is pure and that´s absoluetly charming.
@Asagi's Life
Your face seems waaaaay too shiny.
Something went wrong with that makeup. Sorry, it looks offputting. 🤔
Something went wrong with your emotional development. Sorry, but it's offputting.

I am both adopted and my parents gave me toast for dinner as a kid!!!!
HE WAS RIGHT
I’m so sorry but I laughed
@@laceye207 Very funny Lacey!
I am white and i have a wok and a rice cooker xD
{EDIT}
the brand of oyster sauce he was using has MSG already added to it ... meaning he did not forget any ingredients
Soy souce aswell
Better use MSG. That why Uncle Roger prefer people use MSG than oyster sauce or other.
It’s too small than the pure msg, so that is why. Nonetheless he still cooked it badly.
Well at least it’s better than Jamie.

I wonder how uncle Roger would react to Mexican cooking Chinese like food.
I enjoy Nat's What I Recon's cooking videos. They are very accessible, if profane. I've been living the Zojirushi lifestyle for a few years now and have, um, too many of their products including a rice cooker.
I live in the US and I grew up watching Totoro. I used the rent it all the time lol, I love Totoro!
And no I'm not a weeb lol.
Uncle Roger is great but I live in the States and I have to say that となりのトトロ is alive and well. I love Totoro!

Australians are the most fun people to be around 😂. They usually don't take life too seriously. Gotta love em.
As an Aussie i can confirm that using the f word is just like using Msg it adds more flavor!
The thing with sesame oil is that there are two types, light sesame oil and dark sesame oil. I read that in chinese cuisine dark sesame oil is very often used, maybe they don't use light sesame oil much? But idk, if Chinese people could clear that up it would be nice. But that would explain why Uncle Roger is so adamant about not using sesame oil for cooking. Dark sesame oil has a lower smoke point and is made for adding flavor.
I didn't know that, I knew about dark and light soy sauce (and saw the difference firsthand). I've cooked with sesame oil once and never again, though. Not only is it super expensive and won't actually add any flavor to your food if you get it hot enough to fry, you will smell nothing but sesame for the next six hours.
Much better to put it on food raw at the end.
"that was my favourite .... as a kid" That really sounded like a savage burn, lol
Omg, you're so cute! Great reaction video, Asagi!
i can second uncle roger's observation, that kitchen is unnaturally clean
Great review of a review Asagi, I watched Uncle Roger in tears of laughter, your review validating Uncle Rogers observations and assertions was just as entertaining :) Thumbs up!
Ajinomoto is a Japanese invention! MSG was first synthesized by a Japanese scientist in 1906 and they make the Ajinomoto brand to sell msg
The reason Uncle Roger disapproves of sesame oil is because sesame oil has a low smoke point, so you cannot fry with sesame oil. Same goes for olive oil. But since Japanese cooking generally does not use high heat (unless grilling), then you are probably able to use it with no problem.
Love your videos ..just come across them and love finding out about Japenese life and culture. Have subscribed to your channel...can't wait to see more videos!! Rob from UK

Love how Asagi Let Uncle Roger and Guitar-Man be the center of attention, and balanced them with Asagi's inspriations.
Also, first time seeing Uncle Roger. He reminds me of smart and funny Martin Yan of "Yan Can Cook" (Original Gangsta' American TV Show, also on CZcams) !!
Classic beauty and grace. Great makeup and sparkly eye shadow. Cute giggles...love your reviews!
You know it's 2020 when you want to watch someone react to a reaction of a video.
I cant live without my rice cooker!
I believe I read a while ago that there are two types of sesame oil - light sesame oil and dark one. The darker one is supposed to be used for flavoring, like Uncle Roger said, but the light oil can be used for cooking?
you have a great channel! Just found your channel! 👍👍👍

i used to measure the water using my finger when i cook rice. that's typical south east asian habit. 😂😂😂
I like the outro song on the video :D also great video overall
Yup US Netflix doesn't have studio ghibli i think HBO currently has the streaming rights but i outsmarted the system and just bought the entire studio ghibli collection on DVD so i can always watch princess mononoke and porco rosso (my two favorites 🥰)
I like your videos they are really good your awesome
13:00 Girl, I feel you, I can't deny it, Uncle Roger is cute lol
Aye new video!
It is really great when youtubers put even a little bit of effort to making the sponsorship parts actually entertaining. First one I personally saw doing this was Nostalgia Critic. His comedy bits about the sponsors are actually funny, so you don't get annoyed about mid video adds
Another good example is Steve Terreberry’s sponsorship segments.
The reason why not to use sesame oil is because sesame oil has a low smoke point; the temperature where the oil starts to burn. When cooking in a wok, most recipes tend to use high heat, which can make sesame oil burn and have a bad flavor. So it is better to use oils with higher smoke points, such as peanut or soybean oil, which are less likely to burn during high heat cooking. They are neutral oils as well, unlike sesame oil, which means you can use larger quantities without having to heavy of a flavor. So when frying in a wok, you use peanut oil or soybean oil for the frying, and a little bit of sesame oil to add flavor.
As far as I know Msg is not legal to sell by itself in Australia. Although I think its an ingredient in some soy sauce brands.
You can buy MSG by itself in Australia. Go to any market or Asian food shop that is not Coles or Woolworths. Coles and Woolworths do not sell it owing to bullshit grounds by those silly "worried" mothers that do not have anything better to do.
MSG is like salt but better, you do not see any one leaping up and down saying they wish to ban salt, do you?
@@ALFA-XL- settle down champ I have actually been trying to buy it with no luck. I will try Asian markets again maybe its because the label isn't in English.
@@chrissometimes1158 yeh, goto china town and most korean marts have it now. i can buy it by the kilo here in adelaide
Asagi is the only young woman I've seen both IRL and the internet to casually wear long a pearl nucklace!! Looks great in it, too! Good job for not being afraid to use such beautiful jewels!
I'm in the UK and have 2 woks and I love them. I use them alot.
I use Maggi seasoning a lot in Chinese cooking, a little more depth than just pure msg
I love ur vids
I love Uncle Roger!! He's amazing
Nat, openly admits he is not a chef. He's a comedian. Started the cook thing to have a laugh but also to show people that it is better to cook fresh than with packet food
I don't know why I started laughing heavily when you repeated that MSG is Japanese invention ( which is true).
I know Uncle Roger (mrnigelng), he is a funniest food critic who is a persona to Nigel Ng. I like him and I have a subscribed to him.

I got rid of my toaster and replaced it with a super blender and an air fryer. Still no room for a rice cooker.
So about the wok thing...as someone who isn't Asian, and who grew up in the US, we always had a wok. It was weird for me when I found out people here don't normally own a wok.
I guess I like this because my wife never spends any time with me, especially when I am watching tv - with Asagi, it's like I have a friend to watch tv with.
if you liked how he blended the ad into the video try "internet historian" he literally has a whole avengers series about his advertisements that he has made
Mexican here, i had Wok. Lost it when moving home... that was a sad day
sesame oil, as far as I know is used for spicing the food not for frying or cooking the food with it.
for that I usually use vegetable oil like canola oil or soybean oil maybe olive oil for sauteing.
As a metalhead, it's funny to see this dilemma with you being attracted to it but being kinda shy about it lol
Aussie Aussie Aussie!!!! Oi oi oi!!!!
How about doing a review of Vegan Black Metal chef? That’s something else...
Glutamic acid was discovered and isolated by Karl Heinrich Ritthausen, a German scientist 42 years before Kikunae Ikeda isolated it to use as a "spice"(spice isn't right, not sure what word would describe it better though). The reason I know this is because Ritthausen also discovered aspartic acids, the main ingredient in SAP(super absorbent polymers) and in polymerized form makes PASA(Polyaspartic acid) which is used as a biodegradable water softener. Besides regarding MSG, it doesn't actually make food taste better, it makes bad food taste better which you could already solve by not buying bad food.

I eat toast maybe four times a week, I eat rice maybe four times a month. Why on earth would I buy a rice cooker and not buy a toaster?

Asian parents aren’t the only parents that give whoopings. I have an infinite amount those stories.
This guy is not your typical Australian, and yes why doesn't he have a rice cooker and wok? Most of us do! This guy is what you would call Bogan.
Whats a Bogan if you don't mind me asking
how is he not?
and to say you dont say fuck or cunt in every sentence is deplorable and youd have to be not an australian
Counter point: Bogan is the typical Aussie.
But this is 2020 and I can't accept not having a rice cooker and a Wok. I'm a white boy who does all his cooking on Uber Eats and I still have a Rice Cooker and Wok, as a Bogan.

I use sesame oil also, it's delicious.
I never had toast for breakfast, but I lost count of the lunches and dinners I had with toasts.
We italian rarely eat savory food at breakfast anyway.

I use toasted sesame oil for fried rice
You should react to the episode where he reacts to the Cowboy Egg Fried Rice.
I have a wok though its cheap, hopefully soon I can get a nicer one.
Attracted to the bad bois? Mmmm. Sesame oil is different amongst Chinese diaspora people - it is rich and toasted - used for finishing dishes. In Japan, and amongst the Jains or high caste Hindus sesame is everyday oil, but much lighter. In the U.K. we are more likely to use rapeseed (canola in the USA) oil for everyday cooking - low smoking point.

It seems like woks are uncommon outside of Asia in general. I personally have one, and I've had it for years, but unfortunately I don't get its full benefit where I live right now, as we have electric burners instead of fire... it's not quite the same, as the sides don't get nearly hot enough to properly microsear the rice. I will still use my wok for stir-fry or preparing ingredients that don't need a lot of exposure to the heat, such as minced garlic or mushrooms, but fried rice gets made in a frying pan made of steel since that seems to be the best way to make it in the absence of a wok exposed to flame... it still cooks roughly the same way... roughly. It's a good alternative for when you don't have optimal conditions for making it but still wanna make it anyway. :)
And get that avocado on toast shit outta here... wtf... who actually eats that...
My parents are from Honduras. TLDR I never learned to use a rice cooker, we just make that sh*t the old fashioned way! :{D
I made Egg Fried Rice with my brother, once. We had tofu and everything, dried it and cut it. We used Sesame Oil too. It was really _really_ good lol
You're not the first asian I've heard say they would cook with sesame oil and it really surprises me as sesame oil doesn't get very hot before it burns.
I have two Woks. And I'm white... well... complexion wise not so much. My wife's Japanese friend asked what kind of asian I am. I'm kind of a light olive tone. Dark hair, but blued eyes. Maybe like a blue eyed kazakh. Maybe I should make a white American guy cooks fried rice video.
Expanding on MSG being Japanese. MSG was originally a kombu extract.
The is the first time I've watched one of Asagi's videos, and I wasn't sure she was Japanese (there's another channel with someone who appears to be Cantonese but says she's Japanese) - until Asagi accidently said "これは"... :)

3nd! Always a treat.
I think how foreigners cooked rice is showing how to cook the rice before rice cookers were invented. And I had to think it's kind of a good thing. Because it's a good method when there is no electricity in the house and you need to cook rice immediately.
But if there's no electricity & you have an electric stove, then you're kinda screwed still
@@flowerdolphin5648 That is if there are many people who can afford such stove. Because as far as I'm concerned, around 95% of households around the world is using a regular stoves that requires fire for cooking.
@@evouzermemet5120 really? I didn't think gas stoves were so cheap in other places. Where I live there's no noticable price difference between gas stoves and electric stoves. Gas stoves can get quite expensive too. Unless you're talking about actual wood fire stoves. But at least here only some very old houses in the countryside still have those, bc houses these days aren't built for wood fire ovens/stoves anymore, so they became basically an expensive luxury item. But I don't know what the stove situation is like in less developed countries.
Very nice 👌👍😎
Someone should tell Uncle Roger that some guys and girls, but particularly the guys make a lot money looking like the tatoo'd. long haired chef. Just ask the guitarists who play with BABYMETAL! Another very funny video!
asagi: people in the west
me: australia is not considered west...
Not going to lie, I'm American, but I don't own a toaster. I hate any appliance that's just used for one thing. I do have a toaster oven that can toast bread and be used to cook other foods as well. Why would I get a rice cooker when I've already become an expert with steaming it in a pot? I literally don't have the space in the small apartment. Wok seems unnecessary too, but I do happen to have one. I've tested a saucepan vs. Wok and I really can't tell the difference in taste. That's just me though.
What happened to the live stream video?
I have a wok, and I'm from the west
This woman is in love with uncle roger.. u may be the next auntie helen... just wait for it..

Australia is closer to Indonesia. In Indonesia they don't use MSG as much I think. My grandmother is Indonesian. And we don't use a rice cooker and we don't use MSG because it is supposedly bad for your health.
Just use shrimp paste instead of MSG
It's fun seeing westerners mess up egg fried rice
They did that with our tacos
Are you talking as a Mexican or Native?
Asagi: Ajinomoto is a Japanese invention.
See those eyes! Can't disagree with Asagi. Look like she kill you with her eyes!
As a non Asian American I feel so special I use a Wok and Peanut Oil to make fried rice ☺
Hi, Asagi, Uncle Rodger is still funny. Uncle Rodger is still Uncle Rodger. But like I said to you before, what really tickles me is your reactions to crazy silly things people do.
You said you think many people in the west don't have a wok, but Australia is in the East lol. And this guy does have a wok, I saw it in an older video of his so not sure why he didn't use it lol. I love your videos, you always make me smile! I'd love to be your friend, and by the way, it's okay to like and date guys that look like bad boys, not all of them actually are bad boys! But the look is what is attractive. So the look, plus them being a good guy = WIN! lol
My neighbor totoro Is my 4 year old son's favorite movie. I asked my wife when we should have him watch grave of the fireflies, and she said never. He's too happy to be that depressed.
Is it just me or is Asagi simping Uncle Roger a lot~? :P
I think she is 😅
