A little background about me before I tell you my opinions on this. I have grown up in a generation with horrible music. I’m 14 years old and I’m surrounded by all this overproduced crap. I am such a huge fan of rock n roll and have been most of my life. Aerosmith happens to be the band that got me into rock n roll. This is one of my favorite songs off of their self titled debut. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting both Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, both on different occasions. I met Steven after a show he did in NYC for the today show. I obnoxiously called his name with my nasally, preteen high pitched voice. He kindly came over to me and I had made him a bracelet and he proceeded to put it on his wrist and thank me for giving it to him. I thought that was the last encounter I would have with an Aerosmith member, until January of this year when Joe announced on Twitter that he would be doing a meet and greet in Boston to promote his newest solo album, Sweetzerland Manifesto (if you haven’t checked it out yet it’s definitely an album you need to listen to!). Long story short, I live near Boston so I asked my dad to let me go and he said yes. I was ecstatic because Joe Perry is my favorite member of Aerosmith so it was pretty surreal to me that I was going to meet him. He was so sweet to me and I can’t even begin to tell you how grateful he seemed to see me there, considering I was 13 and I was shaking a ton. He even hugged me before I left and honestly I can tell you he is so humble, sweet, and gracious towards his fans.
These post remind me just how tight Joey and Tom wre in the rhythm section, how important Brad Whitford is, and just how kickass Joe Perry and his guitar playing is! And then Steven brings them all together with his harmonizing, infectous vocals (although his voice isn't as aggressive as it was on the album.) GREAT POST!
The lighting the stage effects the sound makes them one of the greatest American bands of all time they are soup2nuts when they got it together you can see they really care about their fans
A friend of mine introduced me to Aerosmith when I wan in Junior High School. The only song I heard from them was what was playing on the radio at the time..Walk This Way. I wasn't too fond of Walk This Way, even to this day I'm not nuts about it. But anyway, my friend urged me to buy their first album which Somebody was one of the tracks. I decided to buy the album and was instantly hooked. Still think their first album is the best. It's sad what the band has become today.
Loved these guys back then and love em now. Listen to shaky ground off the new album along with beautiful and another last goodbye. Just incredible songs. Tired of hearing how they aren't good now. They play better now than they ever did in the 70's. It was rare in the 70's that you got to see a really great Aerosmith show. They were more than capable, but they really got more into partying than performing well for quite a few years. Still my favorite band ever though.
They were great live until 1976 aproximately, when Perry and Tyler started doing heroin. Every time I listen to those old 73/75 bootlegs I'm amazed sometimes of how a rockin machine they were, absolutely second to none... When you listen to live performances from 77/78 you definitely can tell the difference, they were just wasted
they talk about this tour in their book, "walk this way", i think they went to the midwest twice after the first release, they were virtually unknown outside of boston and the record company wasn't promoting them at all, if i had a time machine this would have been when i would have wanted to see them, luckily "dream on" caught on in boston and created just enough interest to get them booked back into the studio. they way they tell it, they were hanging by a string at this point.
@kingcrimson1972 mustv been great back then...if only all the people back then knew what was gonna happen to the music industry today and how their style of showgoing was gonna be outdated....precautions wouldve been made so we can keep on rocking!
@JJI6881 Flash, those bands had it. Ya know? Back in the day there wasn't a ton of pics of bands. Saw em live, magazine, back of the record. That's it, so the average fan has to remember the wild show if they are gonna buy anything
Yea..@bluntforce those lead guitar fills are not Joe Perry. I am a player and this was one my favorite bands and also one of the first songs I learned how to properly play. the lead beark is Joe Perry..the fills are not. doesn't even sound like him. I have never heard this recording before. Where did you find it Kingcrimson? I would like to have a copy of this for it's rareity. I own almost every Aerosmith recording bought and paid for.
@kingcrimson1972 Just think of the emerging(and eventually iconic) imagery of rock in the early to mid 1970's---Aerosmith,Alice Cooper, Kiss,Ted Nugent, New York Dolls, etc--- an amazing time for rock n roll and teenagers who experienced as it happens!!
Have 2 look Homeward Angels-yes.One is a German export.Don't know where they were recorded though. To tell you the truth never played the German one. Both:side one-S.O.S,Somebody,Dream on,Write Me a Letter:Side two:Walking The Dog,Train Kept A Rollin,Toys in The Attic.Last time i played the one i did play was when got in -78 or so.There did seem to be a discrepancy in the lineup. The German one says thanks to Pony and Scribner for the tape:for everyone from Boston especially Eric and beautiful DLa
he sounds good for being live. All that stardom got to them and they got lazy with their live shows because they are millionaires. Back then, it was just sound perfect all the time or be out of a job
This is when they were at their best, just raw, real and powerful, when they could make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, not that overproduced , emotionless Desmond Child crap that they're known for today. Damn shame they went the commercial root , it's like taking a priceless work of art and throwing dog crap on it.
Steven never sang the 3rd verse.. Just did the first one again.. Call woman woman Come on to me Save for tomorrow share all your sorrow misery enjoys company yes it does yes it does
First one got-kinda weird...there is a story about The Amazing Kornyfone Record Label on back-very long and small.Very bizarre story. Was wondering if anybody else read or has-very bizarre.Neither copy has photo of S.T. w/ finger in ear though-Peace
Just love the early AEROSMITH, the earlier the better. Thumbs up on some raw rockin sounds
First album is the best of the best for true Aerosmith fans. Gritty, raunchy, ass kicking.

I enjoyed your reflections. Is it possible that you can share updates. I like your writings.
I met Joe once at a Joe Perry Project show in the 80's. Nice genuine man.
Glad you had the opportunity too!
Sounds like an awesome experience! I'm with you man, I'm 23. Rock' n' Roll for Life!
Glad I was born in the 60's!
Listening to this with headphones on is just amazing
I grew up with 80's & 90's Aerosmith, but have spent the past twelve months, completely submerged in their 70's works. Love this stuff so much!
70's Aerosmith was the best, by far!
Most 80's and all 90's Aerosmith is crap! 70's is where its at!
Tasker Streete Yea man! From 73 to 79!!
@@johnferro6214 Yep.
by far my favorite song. In the 70's and now present +
Probably my favorite Asmith album. Great sound and tone on every song. I wish I knew how to duplicate it.
I absolutely love this😭😍

GREAT POST!
VERY early Aerosmith. Thanks for posting this.
@sonicsteev haha yeah, 70s aerosmith is one of the coolest looking bands of all time, so I collect all the pics I can. style inspiration!
The lighting the stage effects the sound makes them one of the greatest American bands of all time they are soup2nuts when they got it together you can see they really care about their fans
Thank you very much for posting such a RARE piece of Aerosmith history!

@JJI6881 I was there and still love it!
I agree. Me too, but, to me, Steven was the one to emulate more, which made him more special to me, BUT together, they are magic!
I thank you. As Joe would say. " We're pretty much unequaled ". From the " Gotta Move " DVD.

@Frizzvisions30 Awww, I love Joe's playing. I was in a bad mood when I wrote that.

Wow. Joe's playing actually regressed from this in 77 and 78. He sort of stopped growing as a musician during the drug years.
I know that all the ladies like Steven, but I always thought that Joe Perry was the hottest.
After looking at your picture I think you're much hotter than Joe
@monmixer I think it's Perry. I think his playing actually declined in the late 70s, and he was playing better earlier in their career.
Superior
@LedZeppelin2073 "Dream on"....????
Steven never sang the 3rd verse..
Just did the first one again..
Call woman woman Come on to me
Save for tomorrow share all your sorrow
misery enjoys company

Puedes escuchar a Aerosmith en vivo y estudio...pero de todas formas saldrás satisfecho porque esta banda es excelente.
found this 8 track back in 1980 at a yard sale, played the tar out of this in my 65 barracuda with my wife(she didnt like it tho)
Well you should have let her listen to a carpenter's greatest hits album Mondays and Thursdays and put your earplugs in
Of the three, which is still in your hands? Tape, Cuda, or Wife?

Joe Perry looks like he hasn't slept in about 5 days in the first picture!
