  • In this video we are ecstatic to show off our newest clear coat, Hydro Clear. Hydro Clear is a two part water based clear sealer that is very tough and is self leveling.

    I have a cold rolled steel art piece 8'x4'; half is super rusted and half is mirror polished. Does Hydro clear distort the finish at all? I'm worried about losing the mirror look.

      Mirror polished surfaces are the hardest to get a clear coat to adhere to. Depending on how it was polished determines the success but the Super Gloss will be your best bet. Give us a call and we would be happy to help you walk through the ins and outs of your project, 760 432 8242

    Which clearcoat has the highest mechanical resistance? I would like to seal a steel stairs.

      Hydro Clear and Ever Clear are both good choices but I would go with the Ever Clear for that one.

      @@sculptnouveau thx for the repyl! And why would you go for Ever Clear? Is it stronger?

      @@Frank-dg3dw Ever Clear dries faster while Hydro Clear cures faster. It really comes down to preference and time constraints.

    Why would I use hydro clear instead of ever clear? Is there a VOC benefit? Does it dry as hard as ever clear?

    • @sculptnouveau
      @sculptnouveau  Před 2 lety +1

      Ever Clear dries faster than Hydro Clear but Hydro Clear cures faster. Both are VOC free but Ever Clear is just a VOC free solvent whereas Hydro Clear is completely water based so no solvent smell. Yes they protect similarly.

    Hello! I was wondering what the difference between Hydro Clear, Smart Coat and Ever Clear? I see they are all described as PU coatings. When would you choose one ober the other? Thanks!

    • @sculptnouveau
      @sculptnouveau  Před rokem

      Hydro Clear and Ever Clear are on a similar level. The difference being that Ever Clear is solvent based while Hydro Clear (as well as Smart Coat) are water based. Ever Clear will dry faster but cure slower in comparison to Hydro Clear. Smart Coat is a 1 part clear coat while Ever Clear and Hydro Clear are 2 part clear coats. Basically, it comes down to longevity for the difference between Hydro Clear and Smart Coat, Hydro Clear is just stronger and longer lasting than Smart Coat is in comparison.

      @@sculptnouveau Thanks! Can I still apply hydro clear on an outdoor piece? Does it cure to be water resistant even though it is water based? It is for a conservation work that needs to be carried out at the client's house, so I am trying to minimize the use of solvents or anything that requires any more elaborate application procedures.

      Great question. Hydro Clear would be ideal for when you need to apply the coating inside, say on a bar top or an elevator. Basically, where you need to stay away from the solvent smell really. If you need it to dry fast, Ever Clear is the better bet however.

      @@biafonseca335 You would choose Smart Coat if you want to work with a 1 part clear coat or you were doing something where you would not need the durability of the Hydro Clear.
