Very special song for me. It released in 1964 the year that beautiful little 18 year old girl who had been driving me out of my head for 2 years agreed to marry me and kept me captivated for the next 50 years. I lost her in 2014 and now the song that plays in my head is Hurt So Bad.
Wow, Kirk...what a gorgeous love story expressed in just a few sentences. However, 50 years of such bliss is something to be always grateful for and never to be negated! My best to you, Samantha
I am mesmerized by the sincerity of how this beautiful love song is sung. This era was when music was so clean and down to earth, and I really wish we could go back to having it again.
The Democrat Party has destroyed everything that was beautiful about America,. Black families were broken up, their neighborhoods were broken down and their souls were sacrificed to the gods of addiction. People need to stop voting for Democrats. They are all evil. Today, they endorse chemically poisoning and surgically mutilating young girls and boys who are just confused about themselves, and the Democrats tell them that the girls can become boys and the boys can become girls. It's disgusting.
I was born in the late 80s, and I just don't get today's music. I don't get it and I don't like it. I wish I was born in the 50s or 60s. EDIT: or during the black and white era when words had meaning and people were classy. Men were gentlemen and women were ladies.
Through three decades 50-80's Little Anthony and The Imperials had some of the greatest love ballads in the history of rock and roll. Awesome talent, right up there with the Temptations, Platters, Four Tops, Miracles and Impressions.
Yah quite dreamy like many of the things the that came from that era. Between the end of Korean War and the start of Vietnam war, a decade of space exploration, it was quite otherworldly decade indeed and the music captures and reflects that era perfectly about how even the concept of love was almost a divine, ethereal, mystifying, and enchanting thing!
@@fobypawz418 I'm surprised to get an answer just now as I was rewatching this video only one or two hours ago. Weird. What's still baffling me about this song is the contrast between the intro and the rest of this song, how the former stands out. It could almost be qualified as spiritual (it is soul music after all), while the rest is quite a routine love song (albeit well made, but not genre-bending at all). It's like my ears were suddenly moving from an timeless place to the 50s from one measure to another.
Wow, i just listened to Tears On My Pillow for the very first time and when Little Anthony started singing i got a eerie feeling of otherworldly, his voice grabs your attention and makes you want to listen to him even more closely, never had that feeling before.
So many songs from that era had that effect/aura/vibe…and all these years later, I’m still just as captivated by the music of that time period. Dreamy, haunting, and beautiful✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
I love how small this song starts and how big it gets. When they sing "Night and day and night", you think that's the biggest moment of the song, and then they surprise you with that terrific chord change at 1:28 on "I must think of a wayyyyy....", then listen how they gently settle you back down into the verse again. So satisfying.
I saw them on PBS a couple of years ago and Little Anthony sounds the same and hasn't aged hardly at all. Still has that fantastic voice. Going out of my head because he's still got it.
In my heart I feel sorry for the kids today ...they missed it all. They missed an entire music revolution that became the musical storyboard of our lives. I am so thankful to grow up with Motown and have that music as my memory--- having been there when 'Songs In The Key of Life' came out and Stevie completely rewrote the dynamic of how to actually write a song. This music really touched my heart today whoever put it on -thanks so much
I have listened to music composed between about 1750 to the late 1980's. So I go farther back than my generation, which is the baby boomers. Most of what has been produced since the late 1980's to me is awful. I'm not too sure what happened, but thank goodness that good music still exists, even it it's coming from an archive of some sort!
It is just amazing the turbulent fifties and sixties which blacks have experienced in America still our blessed Black Brothers and Sister pelt out songs which rocks for all times. See Racism could not defeat us then and it will not defeat us ever. Our voice, our will and our mind are just too strong. Our music even transcend race eventually.
MacKenTayomo J May all of us someday see we all bleed the same!!!!! may I live my brother to see NO racism , no hatred, no injustice, nothing but love, peace and justice.
MacKenTayomo J I agree. Music IS a type of language that should unite every single human being. I just wish love and compassion mattered universally as much to more people that seem to embrace money and power.
When I was 5, and my brother was 7, we wanted Dad to play this song on the stereo phonograph record console (high fidelity!) every night before bedtime. Love it still!
Love this song, I remember when I heard it when I came to this country! Love Little Anthony and the Imperials , a great singer with beautiful songs. They don’t make them anymore like Little Anthony, he was a talented singer loved by many and his music will live forever. Going Out of My Head is a great song which I danced many times with my boyfriend at that time. God bless all these artists who gave us moments of pure joy and entertained us with nothing but the best music. I hope this music makes a comeback someday....it is being sorely missed by many.
I had the opportunity to see them last night at The Orleans in Las Vegas and they were incredible! Anthony definitely still has pipes!! The show was wonderful and brought me back to happy childhood times- simply wonderful!
As a small boy growing up in Philly; I remember this performance from Lil Anthony & The Imperials on Soul Train in the 70s. Little Anthony has such an incredible voice and sang his song beautifully.
One of the best songs ever. God, it brings back memories of being at Cleveland High School in St. Louis and watching Richard B walk by. You captured it, Li'l Anthony!
Sorry about the loss of your mom. There's nothing worse than that. I'm like her, this is one of my favorite songs. May she RIP--and still hear her favorite songs resonating in her head,
That GOD for those talented, gifted entertainers of the day & we can get on U Tube & listen to them. 2019 My first time hearing him was in 1957... Yeah
I stood up during " show and tell" in grade school, and sang this song, the boys had the mouths dropped wide open in surprise, and the girls were jumping up and down clapping; in my 60's now and this song still brings back those wonderful memories....
Was one of the first 45's I ever bought as a young man. It still stands up strong! You go Anthony and the Imperials! Feels and means the same as it did then. Qualitay!
This song touches my heart in more ways than I can express. Little Anthony and the Imperials what can I say, you are a great. I wish music today would take a lesson from the greats. That was truly music. I miss all the oldies but goodies.
just absolutely gorgeous. The reception Anthony and Imperials got at all their gigs, because it was awesome and heartfelt and deep, and light and soaring, then a caress. This is what the world needs now.
I got to meet Little Anthony and the Imperials at a recording studio in Long Island, NY. I was invited by a friend. This had to be back in late 1980’s.
When I deployed to Iraq in 2007, I had my daughter send me an iPod with all the songs of my junior high days....just in case. Spent many a Blackhawk flight with this great classic!
I met Little Anthony two years ago before a concert in Pittsburgh. He was gracious and so confident. Some people are tall on the outside...and some people are tall on the inside! Thanks Tony, God Bless and keep touring, we love you and the magic you make on stage... Michael
THEY WERE MY SECOND FAVORITE GROUP FROM THAT PERIOD! DION AND THE BELMONT'S WERE MY FAVORITE, LITTLE ANTHONY AND THE IMPERIALS WERE MY SECOND FAVORITE!

And I am going out of my head Little Anthony just listening to you singing this song! One of my favorite from all your songs! Loved you! Nothing beats old music, nothing.
I saw Little Anthony and The Imperials about six years ago in Laughlin Nevada they sounded so young and exactly how they sang when they were young I had such a wonderful time remembering the good old days in high school back in the 60s those days will never come back
oh man, brings back some great memories of the dances attended back in the 60s. Philly was the place to be with a dance held Friday, Saturday Sunday every weekend at different places from Edgley Firehall in Bristol to Wagners, Boulevard, St Matthews, Concord etc. I even danced on some of the AM radio DJs TV shows. Then I got drafted..
Each time I hear this version I'm transported back to summer vacations at the beach; the days when you had two choices of sun protection; Coppertone or Sea & Ski and neither worked. What a beautiful song!
The times brought out the great era of inspiration and quality in music... 1920 - 1985... Today it is still being produced, just not nurtured and distributed as in the past, and rather than presenting the epitome of inspiration, quality and production, the lowest common denominator is what we get today.
Brothers were so cool even a "happening" 70's music show had no problem booking Anthony and presenting his 60's records that showed the younger audience what true unmistakable talent was about. Look at Don Cornelius grinning that grin when he knew he had something special (Teddy Pendergrass with the Blue Notes, David Ruffin & Eddie Kendricks, etc). Fascinating.
Oh my, the gold old days where everything seemed so simple, everyone was happy, and all we wanted was just plain fun. This song was part of my childhood. Great tune.
Very special song for me. It released in 1964 the year that beautiful little 18 year old girl who had been driving me out of my head for 2 years agreed to marry me and kept me captivated for the next 50 years. I lost her in 2014 and now the song that plays in my head is Hurt So Bad.

Same Here Brother!

I am mesmerized by the sincerity of how this beautiful love song is sung. This era was when music was so clean and down to earth, and I really wish we could go back to having it again.
So do I❤️
Me too 🇬🇧
You can’t go back. That era is gone forever. But we can still enjoy the music and memories.
We were lucky to have experienced how wonderful the music of our time was! Still blaring out of my two jukes!

No,never and forbidden😡😡😡😠😠😠😤😤😤
Thanks to the flash, this has been in my head on repeat for over a year.
Which flash?
Through three decades 50-80's Little Anthony and The Imperials had some of the greatest love ballads in the history of rock and roll. Awesome talent, right up there with the Temptations, Platters, Four Tops, Miracles and Impressions.
The first 25 seconds of this song have something of an otherworldly ring to them... Quite a remarkable intro here.
Yes!

Agreed it's a masterful. Song bridge or rather pause
❤
What a fantastic bridge this tune has...in fact, ALL Teddy Randazzo songs are full of hooks and bridges that are just perfect mid 60s sentiments...
7 years ago..but still a timeless comment that expressed how music impacts our lives
I saw them on PBS a couple of years ago and Little Anthony sounds the same and hasn't aged hardly at all. Still has that fantastic voice. Going out of my head because he's still got it.
One of the most romantic songs ever done. Love it!!!
Along with Ruby & The Romantics' " Our Day Will Come ", they are the quintissential (excuse the spelling ) 60's songs.
albert quinlan Just Two Kinds of People on the other side.
Nah gucci gang was way more romantic
@@GeneralSwirly nah get that outta here
this guys voice gives me goosebumps
This only one the great songs that was enjoyed by a generation that knew what made a great song was, that one!!!
Please repeat that
Still love this song! ♥ So beautiful! ♥ Love Anthony's voice! ♥

I'm 13 years old. I actually love this song to be honest. The song is so dreamy 😍
You can’t blame those kids because of what their parents taught them and those parents were taught by someone and this is like chain.
An .era when. music was actually music
This song in my opinion expresses that deep yearning and longing for a seemingly unrequited love perfectly.
The sixt was my favorite songs I'm 80 years still loving it forever and always yeah?🤗🤗😆
This is real music
The structure of this song..and singing it is Superb..
Love It!! The good ole days! God how I miss it! Great harmony and lyrics!!

When I was a little Boy I would stand and sing this song and later in life I would come to understand why it would have meaning to me !!
I’m 69 and I think any song he sings is just so beautiful!

I'll say it once more. Having known them, back in those Golden Days, makes growing old worth it!!
I hung around Bleecker street in the village NYC in the mid 60s. Jerome was as shy as he sings of in this song. Yea his real name is Jerome.
I heard Anthony is a nice person.. I'm sure the other guys are too. Timeless music.
High pitch voice when I was a young kid
music was playing everywhere in my
house this guy always maded me
feel warm inside the music 🎶.
Being "out of my head" brought me here" ;-) Anthony is SO dear!
LOVED this group -- this music was and still is R-E-A-L ! Thank goodness it lives on with all of us who appreciate truly good music!!

doesn't matter what generation you were born in the music is timeless for every generation to enjoy.
What a voice! As a kid I thought it was a female singer just the stylistics singer. Amazing

Each time I hear this version I'm transported back to summer vacations at the beach; the days when you had two choices of sun protection; Coppertone or Sea & Ski and neither worked. What a beautiful song!
And bottles of warm Pepsi with those waxed straws that stopped working when they got used.!
So many memories this music brings back
