My expectations for any Lexus/Toyota in this test is in the near future "marginal" until they overhaul the platform.
It's just the rear seatbelt tensioners that are the issue
@@Sklounst_Actual I hope they fix that easily, but I guess if it's so easy why haven't they done so already, especially given this test was debuted well over a year ago with plenty of notice years before?
So practically why it got Marginal rating is because of the Rear passenger restraints and dummy kinematics. The car preformed well for the front driver, its the rear passenger that's potentially going to get hurt
Yeah almost all of these cars are doing poorly with the rear passengers because the new test looks at rear passengers while the old one didn't and lazy car makers didn't engineer their cars with rear passenger safety in mind.
@@SuperMrgentleman I guess they're gonna start giving the rear passengers some attention now
@@haddedoussama14 "Haha we totally should get on that"- manufacturers of cars sold to parents as family haulers for safely getting lots of people places
@@SuperMrgentleman it has and will be always the case. The won't give anything extra attention if they're not obliged or they won't make money out of it
@@haddedoussama14 Lexus won't. Volvo generally will, and will design cars a decade before any test exists to be safe in that regard
I'm surprised that the wheels stayed intact whereas the bZ4X's fell off.
IIHS, It looks like you are better off crashing the poor man's UX aka Corolla Cross which achieved an Acceptable rating .
poor man's ux is technically toyota chr, although they use the same TNGA-C platform.
@@user-op7vy5ny4r They are all riding on the same cramped Corolla hatch wheelbase.
@rightlanehog3151 The upper body structure is completely though in between corolla croass and ux. UX shares the same upper body with the chr, with more reinforcement bars, addition of laser screws, and modified rear structure.
@@user-op7vy5ny4r*_"Laser Screw Welding,_* a construction method shared with the LS sedan and RZ battery-electric vehicle, makes for a truly robust structure. A strut tower brace, multiple reinforcement panels for the strut towers themselves, and radiator support braces are also used to enhance front-end stiffness." Jun 28, 2023
@@user-op7vy5ny4rthat is a ridiculous comparison. The UX and CHR are totally different vehicles. A lot of vehicles are based on similar platforms, it does not mean they’re “the same.” This is such a tired dig at Lexus it’s getting boring man
This comment is unrelated to the video, but does the new Wrangler have a higher side impact rating? I heard they added side‑curtain airbags in the 2024 model year.
They don’t have the results yet, but it would likely do better in the updated moderate overlap and side impact tests.
Honda Civic or CRV?
Civic acceptable was tested before, and unfortunately CRV still poor.
I don't understand that the injuries measurement is still written as "good" for the rear passengers dummy.
Like it's just a test for the restraints systems, no the injuries
Omg
M is for Mediocre which is the entire current Toyota/Lexis lineup.
Something I've always wanted to see, what if you took the worst performing truck of 1997 and tested it against the best performing small car of 2024?
any decent compact will win against a round style f150 that helps the cars by absorbing muuuch more than it🤣🤣🤣
Tesla Model Y better!! Safety top notch and more bang for the $ almost same price!!
The pure-plug-in fad is over. No one wants one.
yeah uhhh....until the battery melts you to down to nothing
“Updated” moderate overlap AKA moving the goalpost to justify higher insurance rates and contributing to the exponential growth in automotive sticker prices.
"dang bro, who'd have thought that people sit in the rear of cars and get killed there???"
