- Harry has difficulties singing because of the thick stage fog, which irritates his airways. He clears his throat into the microphone, and the fans react by laughing at him. Presumably a knee-jerk reaction, the fans then help him with singing - Phoenix, AZ on 10/14/2017.
Despite Harry's health, he continues to entertain millions across the world. Asthma is a very common condition and affects each person differently, and is typically very manageable.

Probably not. And I don’t think they meant anything by it - it was more of a reaction.
It's so sad to see him struggle so much when he's singing, it must be so hard to carry on but I am so glad that he doesn't use the fog machines as much anymore

Im puzzled he does use it at all. I am worried about him now, seeing many vids of his breathing, being out of breath, needing oxygen. He should not have to push himself so hard :(
Poor Harry. I love him so much and it's really heartbreaking to see him struggling like that. Especially the crowd laughing at him clearing his throat is just rude and sad

Poor Harry. When they realised the fog was making it worse they should have tried to clear it away. The urge to cough gets worse as the more you try to suppress it. I would have thought his technical crew would have been aware of Harry's Asthma. Hopefully he was able to rest after and get it to ease off for him 😔

I’m so glad they have stopped using the fog machines. They really seemed to be a struggle for him during many shows. My question is why would the audience laugh? Like what’s funny about it? He’s over there struggling to take full breathes and their like “HAHAHHAHAHAH WOOOOO” like why????? It’s truly heartbreaking to see him dealing with these health issues 😕 I love how your videos take into perspective everything Harry had and has to go through for our entertainment. It makes my love and appreciation for him even stronger💚

It's nice of you to show people that Harry is only human, too. I feel incredibly sorry for him when he has to go through this because he's known as a perfectionist. But how can you prevent coughing? It's amazing how Hazza manages to handle even these uncomfortable situations with grace. That's why I love him even more. If only there were more people in the world, with hearts as kind as Harry's.👍❤

As someone with asthma, once the coughing starts you just can’t get it to stop for so so long. I have such bad asthma that is easily triggered and so any time I go outside and walk for like 10 mins in gym I’ll start coughing so hard. A few days ago on Friday I wasn’t feeling well(didn’t know at the time
but it was the normal flu) and whenever I am sick my asthma worsens. I coughed so hard I threw up and since my nose and chest err stuffy my cough was very deep. Most embarrassing moment of my school life, it is so hard to breathe with the coughing though. Poor Harry 😢

He has always had a chronic cough. Although in the concerts IN LATAM, it was possible to observe that they used the fog machine, in Chile and Brazil. Apparently, it didn't affect him or they were away from him.
Yes, he coughs all the time, but it seems to fluctuate in severity. The fog machines appear to be near the back of the stage now, so that’s good.

@@neilrobson9763 He seems to get a bit “froggy” in his throat causing a cough, but then other times he coughs worse and seems short of breath. It varies a lot, which is why I think it’s physical (not mental).
You need to see the vids better, he hides it very well, but trust me, his lungs are burning with that fog machine, his ashtma is triggered by it, the coughs show his muscles tighten, making hit hard to breath at all.

I wonder how he got on from when he got hit by sweets and shoes must of hurt him though. Im sure they didn’t laugh because it was funny to them that he was coughing. The just found the little cough in between singing cute and simply tried to laugh it off to assure to Harry and themselves that he was fine and it’s okay

It sucks that they were laughing. I’d never laugh at someone coughing and clearing their throat. I’m glad the fog has died down hugely.

The fans laughed like.. once? I don't think it's that dramatic, guys. This video makes it out to be a terribly sad situation. The fans sang with him when they realised he was struggling. And if he'd wanted the smoke machines off, he could have said something to his crew in between songs. So most likely he just had a cough that day.
True, we don’t know the situation. Some shows his cough is very noticeable, and he does seem to have a chronic one. He gets frustrated when his voice/body doesn’t do what he wants.
It's heartbreaking to see him trying to stop his coughing fit and I hope the audience doesn't laugh (I think they might not have known he has asthma), I had already noticed that was taking tea does it really help with asthma or soothe his throat a bit?

Yes, caffeine can help with asthma - in clinical studies it has shown to act similar to an inhaler (but not as strongly). I’m sure it helps for his throat as well.

Ok ive bin struggling with caufhing and tightness in my lungs for about a week and i feel terrible. Gets worse when i go in and out between elderleys homes when i work. Im going to call the doctor tomorrow, cant imagine harry having to perform when its like this. I know he have bin struggling with astma and i cant understand why they have to use the smokemachine, the inviroment inside the club should do enough of damage for his lungs. I dont know if i have astma, problably not, but sometimes it can get intense and i get breathless. Its more i understand what he have to struggle with...

Maybe who knows but maybe that’s why he brought out treat people with kindness as in this day and age you should be kind to everyone . I doubt that’s why but who knows that’s what I’d like to think he did it for as I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks that. I wouldn’t want to be unkind and laugh either as it’s no laughing matter but I just don’t get it why though I’m not sure ❤
He tries to spread love and kindness into the world. In fact, during this show, he asked everyone to find a stranger next to them and hug that person. He asked that everyone take that feeling of “embracing a stranger” out with them everyday.

Also if they watched one direction before he has used inhalers and someone said he had asthma but some people may not know but also what funny about clearing your throat even if I didn’t know he had asthma I wouldn’t laugh like he is clearing his throat hahah

Don’t you think if he had asthma he would ask the people not to have smoke at the concerts. He lays out how he wants the show so why would he want smoke if he triggers? (Not being mean)
He doesn’t use it much anymore…it seems this particular tour they used a lot. Maybe he didn’t want to make a big deal of it?
