An M-60 Patton tank terrorized an American community for 23 minutes in 1995. It barreled through streets, smashed into cars and other vehicles, and knocked down light poles - leaving thousands without energy or water.

What's even crazier is this happened in 1995, nobody had camera phones back then. That means someone had grabbed there camcorder to film this. So this is either raw news footage, or someone's quick reaction of finding the handy camcorder.

They purposely make them that way, they have a shear strength specifically designed for the optimal safety. Its not very safe if the pole is too strong and doesnt bend like that. If it didnt bend or fracture at the base it would send metal shrapnel flying and there would be a very rigid light pole flying about for innocent bystanders to get hit by. The bolts at the bottom are the most important part, if they dont sheer off not only will the people in the car be worse off but everyone around the area. Believe it or not if designed and engineered properly the poles act as cushions.

There used to be a bunch of old tanks between a Kearny High building and the street. I drove by them everyday on the way to work. It was just a matter of time before this happened.
Display tanks are usually deactivated or not in a fit condition to drive. This tank was stolen from a national guard armory with WAY too relaxed security.

What is most amazing is that in an era of no Cell Phone cameras, someone had an actual video camera and took this excellent footage.
Yes, it looks like someone filmed it in a brend new smartphone, but when i saw the year, i was very surprised.
