You are the best part of my day when you post a new video. You teach me about great garden plants I can use in my garden designs but also about being humble, learning from everyone, and seeing with wide open eyes. I’m inspired by the future and the gardens that lie ahead.

Thank you Roy for that video. Very precious as always. Scent is the first thing that I will be looking for when getting to now the plant. And how it sprouts in the late winter. I always find it magical when you see the small points emerging from the earth, their colour is so gorgeous! It is concentrated with strength and determination. A great show of life, very uplifting to me. Looking forward to the next episode !

Hi Roy, thank you for mentioning so many great plants. I work in downtown Chicago, right next to the Lurie Gardens, and have seen the Siliphium plant - its HUGE. Is this also known as cup plant and does it spread? I have Heliopsis, Lemon Queen growing in my yard and it's a garden thug. I don't want to introduce another thug if I can help it. :-)

Thank you Roy for another lovely video! The relationships between plants, but also between plants and people are so important, and much underestimated (at least in my surroundings). Touching plants and soil and smelling them is fantastic! Getting excited about worms! We need to teach kids that too and get them back in touch with nature.
There is a book called ‘the well gardened mind’, excellent titel and book.

Happy to be introduced to more plants you trust, Roy. Thank you. Love your book, too. So I’m looking forward to your next series of videos. Here in the CT woods, I’m always looking for good combinations for shade and partial shade. Oh, and deer resistant 😉

Great series! I'm starting a new garden in Zone 5 mid-MI and have a strong gardening background and fair knowledge of perennials and native plants, but our site is very open (top of an esker) and very well drained -- I went from shady, clay, moist 'cottage' garden at our old house, to now working on building beds for a more naturalized 'prairie' look at a completely different soil and sun environment. Learning more about grasses as I go, so these videos are very helpful.

Hi Roy! I love your videos and have used your techniques when renovating one of my gardens last year. This spring I'd love to start a few new areas and I'm wondering how you typically prepare for a new bed/area that is currently in lawn or woodland edge. Thank you!

there are a variety of techniques that depend greatly on the location and soil condition...the internet might be your best resource on how to do it in your case.
