  • I know a few of these things are likely just what happened in war, but I still thought it was quite interesting.
    Enjoy :)

If anything, Memphis Belle drew some of its content from the 1943 USAAF Documentary "Target for Today". The dialogue between Genie and Jack (the Waist Gunners) about who was the better shot was taken almost word for word from "Target for Today". I've been recommending it to anyone looking for a good Primer to watch before watching MOTA. Another good Reference is the seminal work on the B-17, "Flying Fortress" by Edward Jablonski. He writes about the 100th BG in detail.

I don't understand the point of this video. Belly landings were common. Navigator Harry Crosby did suffer from air sickness. Both the 92nd Bomb Group and the 100th BG flew the Breman raid shown in Masters of the Air , however the Memphis Belle's last mission was to Wilhelmshaven, not Bremen. Mision Briefings preceded all raids, and they were accurately portrayed by both. B-17s had hand cranks in the Bomb Bay to lower the main gear manually. Pilots dove their aircraft to put out engine fires the engine extinguishers did not. I can also add that the Memphis Belle returned from its 25th mission with very little damage and no injuries to the crew. l I can keep going.

I know a lot of these things are just things that happened, the point is that its just similarities between the two, I am not trying to state this was historically accurate or that they are identical, just that the two showed them, in a similar manor, or in the case of Bremin being the target were coincidently the same.
Beyond that, I like making videos and for me it was a bit of fun to make.

Eveyones been complaining about the CG in masters of the air. But let’s be honest, some of those practical effects in Memphis Belle were pretty darn awful

it was 1990, before cgi of jurrasic park, the memphis belle is a classic, but master of the air also do a great job with cgi showing the scale of the war

@@71Splinter yea good point. You can only capture the pure scale of an air war on this level with cgi. There really isn’t any other way

@@fitycalibre7555 I think they made good use of it mixed with props, but cgi isn't perfect.... yet

Give me Memphis Belle any time over masters of the air. I'm an aircraft and model builder nut and I'm not impressed with masters
