- Thank you so much for WATCHing my video and I hope that you check out all my other content.
I release 3 videos per week, all watch related, including reviews, first impressions and general watch related topics.
I try very hard to diversify my content as well and will feature big known watch brands, microbrands as well as Aliexpress watches.
The majority of the watches I feature are in the affordable range but I do try and get some less affordable watches as well.
Most of the watches that I feature I have bought with my own money. I buy them to enjoy and wear but I also to feature them on this channel.
Being a smaller channel it is challenging to cover the cost of all the watches that I buy and partly because of this I have become an affiliate member with a number of companies including Aliexpress, Ashford.com and Jomashop.
If you are looking for watches from well known brands then it is worth checking out:
www.ashford.com
www.jomashop.com
As an affiliate member I may leave affiliate links in the descriptions of videos. These links will direct you to the watches that I’ve experienced, reviewed and would certainly recommend. If you choose to use those links I will earn a very small commission.
Thank you very much if you choose to use those links.
Below are affiliate links for my absolute favorite watches on Aliexpress. Each of them I have owned and had positive experiences with the stores that they are linked to.

I know the DW-H5600 was released on May 19th, but my perfect G-Shock would be the GBD-200 with Tough Solar and MB6/Bluetooth, but without any of the "smart watch" features.
That would be perfect.
Agreed ! I'm sure many of us want this. They won't make it though because it will mean we have the perfect watch!
@@MaskSwabethat’s so true
Let’s try this again. Sorry about that. First time uploading this episode had an issue with the sound.
Hi, this is a very good review. Spookily, i bought this very watch yesterday as i have been eyeing it up for a while. Like you, i have had quite a few G Shocks but soon fall out of love with them for a variety of reasons but particularly like this one.
Display is absolutely superb and the functionality of it is also top notch. Greetings from 🇬🇧
It is definitely the best that I’ve experienced. The strap quality and those buttons really elevate it.
Nice one James, I have a, couple of favourites including a GG-1000 Mudmaster which is great on trekking and mountaineering weekends. I have actually been looking at this over the past couple of weeks so appreciate the review.
Perfect timing then.
I’m very happy with it and wear it a lot.
I just bought this 2 days ago. My 1st gshock I've owned. Absolutely love it. :)
It is the best Gshock I’ve come across so far.
Enjoy
I had mine 1 week ago, in blue colour. It is amazing
I have gifted myself after cracking govt job... I want to cherish the moment with this piece of perfect science... 🥳
A great watch to celebrate a new job.
Congratulations 🥳
Awesome review James this is one of Casio I've haven't had the pleasure of owning
It is very nice. Some really great features and the quality in particular stands out.
Just got the dark blue home, and I must say, it’s one of the best looking G-Shocks made. Love the new display. It’s an awesome little booger. And it’s not a dinner plate like most g-shocks of today.
It is a great watch. One of my favourite Casios I’ve owned.
Hi
Is the step tracking accurate on this?
Does it vibrate on alarm and timer?
Great review! I've been thinking about getting one, and this video helped me to lean towards DO IT! Lol
Hahaha I hope it was helpful
It would have been very cool if it was solar too.
That would make it next level good.
Wait for next model and price increase
@@naraz88 does Casio even have that in plan?
Doubt it's possible, the biggest downside of the casios that use those lovely MiP screens tend to last only 1 to 2 years with a standard cr battery.
Which usually last 15 years in other G-shocks.
I think a solar version would need sunlight constantly and the capacitors would be empty in only minutes, maybe an hour.
@@Stormcloakvictory Yea sadly that have sense..
Thats a great watch. I was looking for a G six months ago. I wanted some features and specs and decided on gstb100 i absolutely love the thing. Been wanting to add another one but none really give me what my gstb gives me. The great thing abt G shock there are so many variants so anyone can find one he likes..
I also have a solar edifice and hopefully wil add an oceanus in the future..
Thank you for the video! 🙂
Thanks Sivan. I keep looking at the Oceanus as well.
I would love to have one.
I plan to buy a new one, but there are many types and prices. Thks for the review James.
It is hard to choose when there are so many available.
Just take the time needed to find the right one for you.
Or buy them all 😂😂😂😂
Yeah that display looks great! Nice looking GShock!
Thanks mate
It's my fav G-Shock as well, MIP displays are the future, with my 6.5 inch wrist, I cut off the extra strap which was flapping in the wind.
I’m seriously considering doing it too.
These are awesome watches. I bought a GBD-200RD off Catch for $93.95 AUD inc postage, an absolute steal👍
That’s a great price.
I bought one not long ago. I absolutely love it!
It is a great watch.
It wears smaller then the numbers , best negative screen hands down. Even better then my rangeman GPS . I loathe casio smart apps BUT it would be amazing if at some point they make it where you could add data point screens like sunset sunrise , tides etc so these amazing screens can be fully used. Agreed on turning off notifications as it will endlessly being chiming in. Good review 👍 👏🏻
It is a great watch and I agree. It has an incredible negative display.
If you want sunset sunrise moon phase you can buy the GBX-100
@@robo62 , I ended up passing on this model & ' accidentally ' ordered the Japan Market GW-9400YJ-1JF... ooops..
Very cool watch indeed! I was pondering if I should buy it some months ago. And I didn’t. I was heavily attempted while watching your video, James. And although I really dislike digital displays and also the smart functions, I hit the buy button after your video was over. If the display is as good as people say, I may wear it more often than my other digital watches. I hope you feel guilty now! 😀🎉⏰🍹🍹
Hahahaha. I’ve done the same thing many times after watching other reviews. 😂😂😂
@@WATCHingJames yes. This is how it works. 😀 Cannot wait to get it and put it on my wrist. I bet, I will like it much more than my DW-5600BB-1ER which is is really hard to read.
They need to add a tough Solar version and the ability for date/month as is common in majority of the world.
Thanks for WATCHing
I completely agree, give me the functionality of a 5610, with an MIP display and vibrating alarm and I'm there. I don't need the heath tracking complications.
Is it true that it doesn't have an hourly chime?
Ever since I have used that feature in vibration mode on a cheaper Casio I have found it extremely useful.
No chime that I’m aware of.
One thing that bothers me is how the pricing in canada is never what the pricing on youtube tells you it is. This watch on the casio canada website is over two hundred dollars.CAD, but apparently all over the world, it's closer to about a hundred twenty five dollars.Canadian. I ordered the neon
Green/Yellow GBD200 And it's arriving on thursday next week. A couple things people keep complaining about is that it doesn't have tough solar, or that it doesn't have tenths of a second or one hundredth of a second on the stopwatch. I'll let those slide, because this is my first G. Shock, and i'm looking forward to owning one.
Thanks for WATCHing
It’s more than £79 in the Uk-about £95 at the moment. Good review too. Thanks a lot!
I have found the prices on this one do fluctuate.
I also bought mine a while ago so prices may have gone up.
Thanks for WATCHing
I bought this one and the GW 5600BB at the same time because I could not decide between the 2. This one has been on my wrist ever since, about 2 weeks, and I am totally in love with the MIP display.
Excellent review Sir!👍
It is a great watch. As close to perfect as I have seen from a gshock.
Had mine about a month, love the display. Don't need the smart features, I just leave mine in Flight Mode which should also save the battery. Even month just hook up to my phone to adjust the time.
It is the best gshock I’ve come across.
What about its battery life?
Got this watch the one thing that got me hooked was the clear and easy to read display, the older squashed dial made it hard to read.
It is the best negative display I have seen
To me the ideal Casio would have this time display as well as solar and atomic time keeping. I have no use for bluetooth nor all the fitness tracking features. Sadly it doesn't seem to exist. Thanks for your input.
I would love it to be solar. There is a new one out that does but it does not look as nice as this watch.
That Negitive display looks Great
The best negative display I’ve come across
I m looking to buy my first G shock and in dilemma between this one and G5600UE1 updated solar square! I I understand that in legibility and easiness of pressing the button, it shines thaan the usual square but I have heard ppl damaging their watch while replacing the battery and this one has only 1 year + of battery😢 I have 7 inch wrist and looking to buy a durable long lasting digital watch to look for time, Alarm and world time!
What do you suggest? Can I live with 5600’a display legibility angles in 2023 or is this watch greatly improved?
That’s a hard choice.
Both are great watches.
The GBD200 feel better quality in hand and the buttons are much better.
But is has the smart and fitness features that may or may not be what you are looking for.
I would not worry about the battery changing issues.
However not being solar is disappointing.
The G5600 is a classic and I do prefer the positive display.
The added solar function is also fantastic.
I think you would getting a great watch either way. But I’ve owned both and prefer the GBD200 as if feels better quality.
buy GW9500
Love the display, a negative that looks very legible. I will buy one at some point. I wouldn't use any of the smart features though.
I would still prefer a positive display. But I’m not complaining. The legibility is amazing.
@@WATCHingJames yes, I'd always prefer a positive display too but just to have a different looking display in the collection would be a cool addition. I do have a negative display A1000 but I know I'll rarely wear it. This one would def get some wrist time :)
GBD200 is amazing.
Thanks for WATCHing
One of my favorite watch. It only lacks the solar battery recharge.
That would make it even better.
You should do a comparison between this one and the dwh5600
That would make a good video. Great idea
Hi..step counter only active when we push run button, is it correct?
And when we're out from run mode display (ie: want to set alarm), it means stepcounter no longer count or steps ?
Please help, i just bought this cool watch last night. Thank u😊
I think it only record information when you are using that function.
Not sure about the specifics as I used it as a watch and did not use the fitness components.
@@WATCHingJames James thanks for your kind reply. I just figured out tht step counter will automatically count our steps just by wearing this gbd on wrist n walk nrmally.
It was only after I purchased one that I found out the day month is fixed in the US format of month day and cannot be changed
I know that feeling.
I had this watch for a while and I really liked it... The only three things I didn't like about this watch, first one is the thickness 15mm, the next one is the rubber band, it is made of low quality material and it is quite squicky in the beginning, and the last one is very long waiting time in menu, when You want to leave some options. Otherwise it is very nice watch.
Thanks for WATCHing
This display + illumination + basic watch options, without notifications, workouts, Bluetooth and lower price WR10BAR, and it will be perfect Casio watch in my opinion...
That’s my thoughts too
Hi James, where did you purchase your GBD-200?
I can't seem to find it for the $135 Canadian that I was in the video.
Perhaps the prices have increased since the video was produced.
I found the best price at Watch Kings. I’m not sure if they sell outside of Australia.
It’s the sort of watch that you should be able to find at the right price if you wait for a sale.
Thanks James, I'll keep an eye out for a bargain.
Is it ok to cut an inch of the strap from the end to look perfect on thin wrist??? When i bought it i came to know thats the strap is on the bigger side and i dont have beefy wrist so the end part just sticks too much out when i wear it so im thinking to cut an inch of the strap to look good on my thin wrist.
I think that is worth doing. Especially if it is going to stay in the collection long term.
@@WATCHingJames i did it...and it looks and feel perfect now. 🤩🤩.. I'm wearing it more after resizing the strap.
Cheers mate
Good for time keeping but not much else. Looks good but I prefer the blue coloured one.
Thanks for WATCHing
I bought a Casio AE1000 a while back, the buttons are really annoying, you can accidentally change the time just moving your wrist. This G shock looks a whole level apart due to the buttons and illumination.
It really is one of the best features of this one. Amazing buttons.
Hi James, do you experience some bug in auto light feature?
I have had that turned off. I find it a bit annoying.
Hi James.. Do you prefer this to the GBD 100?
This is the best that I’ve come across.
Looks like a great watch. Just wish it had a solar display.
There are a couple of changes I would make. But as it is. It is still great.
Does it show time in 12 hour format as well ?
Yes. You can choose which you prefer
I got same watch. It’s my favorite
It is a great watch.
Enjoy
Do you know how to turn off the bluetooth of the watch when it is disconnected to the phone?
No sorry. I found that it was easier to control from the phone app.
I set the watch in airplane mode to turn off the bluetooth connection
DWH5600-1 just came out and you might like it more with solar and a charger
Oh wow. Thank you. I had not seen this release
@@WATCHingJames check it out. I tried it on. I like it more than this model
Too expensive $300
Grt watch what is battery life of this watch and battery price?
I think they say 2-3 years. But it depends on how you use the watch.
Batteries can be cheap and it’s easy to replace yourself.
On its dual time, can you put a 24H on the 2nd time
Your main time in 12H.
Your 2ndary time in 24H
I don’t think so. But I’m not completely sure.
Can anyone help me with how to turn off this watch when it is not in use?
If you are talking about the alerts I struggled as well.
I ended up disconnecting it from my Bluetooth setting on my phone.
It is visible in the dark even not click the button of light?
No. You need to press the button.
Doe it has auto light feature?
I don’t think so.
How long the battery will last on this watches?
I’ve had mine for over 2 years and it is still working.
It will depend on how many features you use
How is it for running?
I’ve heard it is great. It was made with running as a priority.
I’m not a runner so have not tested that feature.
Biggest downside for me is quartz battery. Approx 2 year life. I have just had a g shock battery replaced by g shock. This guarantees the waterproof claim. It cost £50! That would be 2/3 of the watch price every 2 years! I know people say replace battery yourself or just use a small corner jeweller. Did this previously and water ingress made the watch useless!
If this was solar it would be even better.
@@WATCHingJames yes!
Where did you find that watch for $150 AUD, cannot find that low of a price.
I found it on a site called watch direct.
It has gone up in price since I made the video but I’ve seen it regularly go on sale.
Keep an eye on them and grab one when the price drops.
the big downside of the gbd200 is the nonstandard lugs and bezel attachment. it´s almost impossible for a regular person to replace the bezel. you have to open the watch, remove the module, remove the buttons with the tiny clips and only after that you get access to the screws that hold the bezel to the case..
It would definitely be a bit of effort. Lucky I like it as it is.
Thanks for WATCHing
Does it have gps?
I don’t think so.
Where is the solar version!
I know. That would perfect this watch.
I don’t like smart features on G-Shock watches it doesn’t look original to me I bought 3 of G shock watches recently. I love them all.
They make some amazing watches. I personally don’t need the smart features.
Not sure where your getting those prices... $150 US and $200 CND on average.
Have seen it for $180 CND, and depending on color $115-150 US(mostly $150)
My ONLY "dislike" is that it's not a solar...
If it was solar it would be even better.
Maybe they will bring one out.
$150aud was the best price I found on a google search on the day of recording the episode.
@@WATCHingJames ahh so you did a quick conversion... got it. 👍
I bought this recently but i find its a very small watch.
Oh wow. Really.
Hope you enjoy having it.
@WATCHing James it's a nice watch and ibdo like it. Just a little bit bigger would have been good
Remove the Bluetooth and step teacher and add multi band 6 and tough solar then this is a super super hit model. #casio
Thanks for WATCHing
Missing tough solar.
That would be a great improvement
i dont get it. :) you dont like the smart functions in this watch so why waisting the money when you could buy casio DW5600 wich is almost the same watch without the samrt functions and cost only about 90 buks :)
I’ve owned the DW5600 and the GBD200 is a lot better (in my opinion) the case, strap and buttons are much better and has a much better feel on wrist.
@@WATCHingJames Ok in my eyes these 2 watches are very similar and the gbd 200 is just a smart version of dw5600 😊😅
Make this solar powered. Otherwise this is worthless because when we change the battery from our local watch store it's lost his water resistant. #casio
Thanks for WATCHing
Take away smart features add solar
It would make it perfect.
@@WATCHingJames can you suggest one?
👍
👍
20 bar is 200 meters not 20 meters
Did I say 20 meters. Whoops. Sorry. I did mean 200
Casio App G-Shock Move is unreliable.
That’s good to know.
@@WATCHingJames I don't want to be the skeleton at the feast but the reviews here in Italy are not positive...ahahahah. Thank You.
👍
It wont even open for me right now.
@@phxrsx Some claim that the app has problems related only to network quality.
However, I think the app is really poor.
