Barney is a delight, it’s a shame he doesn’t post more often, but he is a wise man.

I have 3 different rounds of golf.
    1. Sunday Competition where I will play carefully and not compound any errors and keep big numbers off my card. Keep out of trouble and get out of trouble the safest way possible.
    2. Social golf. Here I will take more risks and attempt to play some difficult shots where I have an even chance of pulling it off.
    3. Aggressive golf. I'm going for everything and I'm going to find out what I can and cannot do. What do I need to learn to improve what I do in the sunday competition. Can I hit my 3 wood over that tree or not? Can I sting my 4 iron under that branch or not?
I believe you should learn a shot before you take it to serious golf.

Picked up the game late, at age 35, and 20 years later I was still the same shitty golfer. But that's changing the last year or so, in large part due to Sidekick. He has totally changed how I think about golf, but the most important thing is that he's taught me that it's OK to try. Before, when I wanted and actively tried to get better, I immediately felt stress and it affected my play. I'd play poorly, get frustrated and stop trying, because it wasn't fun. Now, I know how to think about every round, every hole, every shot, and so I can make the stress melt away and swing with confidence. Golf has always been fun on a social level, but actually improving bit by bit brings me more joy than I ever could have imagined. Love this channel. Life-changing stuff, IMO.

I guess I do the checklist intuitively. What I think is as important is picking the line that works best for you on the shot. Off the tee it’s hit away from trouble, on the approach it’s missing in the right spot.

Hole 16, you say you're way right but the ball is in the middle of the fairway. Short par 4 you won't reach, put yourself in a comfortable wedge distance. You taught me that, Playa.

    Great thinking of those shots

Saw the putt where you watched the hole and not the ball. Little putting out of your mind at play? 😉

For me, too much thinking makes for bad shots, because in the middle of my swing I'm inclined to think of the "other thing" and not the thing I've decided on. Not good. Get my approach shot within 100-110 yards no matter what, then let my automatic wedge do the talking. My strategy for par 3's is to plan on a miss, then pitch and put. If I hit the green it's a bonus. Golf is hard.

      That’s not thinking. Thats indecision.

That’s because you haven’t committed to the shot you decided on? If you say you are going to get your next shot to within 100-110 yards no matter what the likelihood of pulling it off, that doesn’t sound like a reliable strategy.

Is the eagle music just the birdie music played backwards.

I can't believe that anyone actually sucks at golf. It's such an easy game. I play in North Korea and I routinely score 11 under par.

No where near the 38 under par record! On his first ever round too.

A real playa would put a pinned comment as a link to Barney's channel.
