    My top tips would be:
    Use a metal pipe for the intake pipe too. Mine came with a carboardy foily one and it perished after a year and the whole heater had to come out to replace it.
    Put some shielding around the fuel pipe near the exhaust so it doesn't melt from the heat of the exhaust.

    Good video , a few points I was told by a mechanic was that it's best to prime the fuel pump and line to the pump before starting to lubricate it otherwise it is running dry until it eventually sucks fuel through which could shorten its life , the exhaust silencer should be mounted vertically with the drain hole it has at the bottom and positioned so the exhaust gas is not existing under the van and the exhaust has a slight downward fall along its length so no water traps .
    And finally get yourself a Co2 alarm just to be on the safe side.

    • @evelbsstudio
      @evelbsstudio Před 2 lety +5

      I agree as there self lubricating fuel pumps..
      The idea of the pump been lower than the fuel tank is that once its primed it will never need to do it again unless you totally run out of ⛽️ fuel

    • @MrHercules222
      @MrHercules222 Před 2 lety +5

      That would be true if it were a gear or vane pump, but these little "click-clack" solenoid pumps can run dry for a very long time without damage. I would still prime up the pump before hooking up the fuel line to the heater just because it will prime a lot faster with an open line.

    Hey Tommy. Great video. Can I ask how long you have been using the heater. I’m about to buy a mk8 transit and I want to fit one (to keep my tools dry in the winter) I’m asking if you have any idea what the fuel usage is like if it’s set to come on a few degrees above frost…. And have you had any problems with it draining yiur battery 🔋
    Any help would be massively appreciated. James

      To be honest that should be fine as long as you can fix it down properly and it clears the floor to outside the van , despite what people say the turret plate dont get really hot anyway👍

    I bought one, notice the cap for the diesel tank may not be very air tight because the tank opening is a bit uneven. Question is, can diesel be left open in the RV and will not evaporate to cause harm to human? or I kind of worry it is like a leaky gasoline fuel tank will be troublesome. I have not installed it yet.

    What sealant would you recommend?
    I found VITCAS Heat Resistant SILICONE (300°c) of VITCAS Heat Resistant Sealant Sealant (1300 °C). I would assume the silicone version would stay more flexible and water proof/air tight. But I'm not quite sure.

  • @petermoygannon698

    Ive had issues with the pump been higher than the unit . The pump creates miniture air bublels and they turn into one bid air bubble in the line . And ultimately stops the unit . The fuel tank can be up high though that doesn't matter .. just the outlet of pump lower than the unit so it pumps up to the unit. And now I'm watching those very tiney bublels just go up to the unit up the green hose that was supplied with it . It doesn't stop running now . No big air locks.
