    The 03 jeep liberty is by far the worst vehicle I've ever worked on. Replaced the water pump, thermostat and hoses and still over heating, looks like I'll be tackling the reservoir this weekend, thanks for the info!

    awesome thanks for this, my 03 jeep liberty has been overheating. we changed the water pump and found broken pieces of plastic in it but idk from what. but considering your daughters reservoir looks like mine, i’ll have to check it out

      How’s the Jeep running? Did you replace that reservoir?

    But he also told me he bleed out some of the Coolant but I still hear a coolant running through and making sound around the machine

    Enjoyed this one. Have one of these Jeeps.
    I only use Zerex G-05 coolant. No "universal" stuff here.
    Also, my bleeder screw socket stripped out about 15 years ago. Surprised you have one. What Chrysler genius thought these screws would last? I actually have replacement screws but haven't tried to drill this one out-- maybe next time.. I've bled at the upper radiator hose .

      I should have expounded on that but was pressed for time. Dude, Bro, Man LOL It WAS stripped out TOO!!! I put my Allen socket in and pounded it in THE STRIPPED OUT HOLE with a hammer! LOL true story! Stiped inner damage solved.

    I have a 2005 jeep liberty. I replaced the coolant tank and coolant started emptying. Purged the air and now it looks like a much smaller leak coming from the thermostat. I’ll be changing that out next but! After I did the purge, I put my car in drive to move it over a spot so I could clean the spill. I had it running for about 40 minutes for the purge and there wasn’t any white smoke coming from the exhaust but it did when I put it in drive to move it. I plan on taking it to get diagnosed but could you cover why that might be happening? Blown/cracked head gasket??

    • @RussShawTV
      @RussShawTV  Před 3 měsíci

      If you have a small leak by your thermostat, I would bet, that’s where you’re losing coolant.

    • @miriaheagan674
      @miriaheagan674 Před 3 měsíci

      @@RussShawTV could that be causing the white exhaust or should I still get a diagnosis to see if my head gaskets need replaced?

    • @RussShawTV
      @RussShawTV  Před 3 měsíci

      @@miriaheagan674 yes, I would always recommend going to a reputable shop, read the reviews, ask Car communities in your area what the best shop to take it to.
      And have them do a compression test to make sure you have a blown head gasket.
      Best of luck, my friend 👍🔧

    What's the name of the lower hose on that reservoir? Mine is leaking and i need to replace it but at Autozone they had no idea, what i was talking about hahaha

    • @RussShawTV
      @RussShawTV  Před 3 lety +1

      I would just use bulk heater hose to replace it. You could cut off a piece of the bad hose and bring it in they’ll measure the ID and how much you need.
      Also how do you know whether it’s your hose or the reservoir? With my daughters jeep her reservoir was cracked and broken right around where the hose connects to the bottom of the reservoir.
      It could’ve easily been diagnosed as a leaking hose.

      @@RussShawTV I'll check to see if its the actual reservoir or hose. Thank you :)

    • @RussShawTV
      @RussShawTV  Před rokem

      Did you make sure you put the thermostat in flowing in the right direction? And there’s a bleeder screw. I think, I show this in the video, an Allen screw that you need to release to make sure you can fill it with coolant.

    • @RussShawTV
      @RussShawTV  Před rokem

      Did you check for leaks? Leaks like in the reservoir? They do fail, it’s a most common cause.

    Are these cars reliable?

    • @RussShawTV
      @RussShawTV  Před 4 měsíci

      Again, if you take care of them, they take care of you. 3.7 L V6 is a pretty good engine. My daughter got this a year or two after she graduated high school. It’s now approaching 230,000 miles and my daughter is now 33 this vehicle so in our experience and taking care of of scheduled maintenance, it’s been pretty reliable. 👍

    Doesn't overheat but looses all water from reservoir

    • @RussShawTV
      @RussShawTV  Před 4 měsíci

      Sounds like a clogged radiator. That’s why I changed mine. Thermostat will do that too. But odds are it’s the radiator.
