This is literally the opposite of Hinkieism. This is why Billy King is the worst GM ever.
Billy king is rushing things unlike sam hinkie, Sam's time in philly was doubted by the fans because of the failure of the young process with mcw, noel and okafor. Hopefully he drafted a franchise player in embiid which never played for 2 years which hurt sam's time in philky before getting fired. He dont rush things and kudos to him philly is what it is today. Billy king is trash traded too much first round picks for washed up all stars, and possibly retiring in 2016-2019 seasons which will make nets bad and be a lottery team (thoughts during 2013 season) Thats a really stupid move and risky at that

Hiring Sean Marks was the best move ever. I would consider marks to be a top 3 GM in the NBA if he signs Jabari Parker or Aaron Gordon this offseason, if nets get 1 of those i think they’ll make playoffs and from going from worst team in nba with no draft picks to playoffs and a bright future is amazing, nets looking decent this year
Exactly, and look how the media recieved both of them over time. King is a genius who makes a great trade now a laughing stock who took at three aging players for a trip to the ECF. Hinkie was a loser, but has now laid the grounds for the most talented team in the East that will win a championship.

Its funny how that PP KG trade is considered one of the worst trades ever but at the time all these analysts like Bill Simmons, SAS, Skip were all favouring Brooklyns side. It just goes to show that the media only thinks in the short term. Also groupthink is a very big thing.

The Nets are why teams are tanking. Tanking works while keeping an average team does not. Getting a chance at a future star with a #1 or #2 pick is far more effective than living in mediocrity. Sure, the 76ers failed on some of their picks, but eventually you will draft the right players. Then once you have these up-and-coming stars you can start to build a team around them with free agents. And because your rookies or 2nd year players are still on their rookie contract you can afford those free agents. Then the entire team is protected by Bird Rights and you can build a dynasty.

You cant make a dynasty really unless you are willing to pay luxury taxes. They may have bird rights but there is no way owners want to pay high luxury taxes

Lmao, that draft pick turned into Damian Lillard. I know the Nets already had DWill, but cmon that was a really high risk that obviously didn’t pay off.
This is great this should be done for every era of every team in this same manner.
It’s absolutely incredible how a lot of these moves were praised when they were made and just failed so drastically. I guess the question to be asked is were the Nets ever actually good enough to have these visions of winning finals in the first place; I say that because it comes across that the management were deluded and thought the assets they already had, coupled with what they were getting, were enough to get past LeBron’s Heat.
I thought that having Brook Lopez, Deron Williams and Joe Johnson was a good idea. Admittedly, I was on board for those players. But when I heard that the Nets traded for Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, I knew that that was a bad idea. I knew that those players were at the end of their prime or possibly past it. I knew back then that that was a bad move. It surprised me when I heard the commentators siding with the Nets on getting KG and Paul Pierce. I couldn't believe that. Even back then I knew it was a bad deal.
And now here we are, they have KD, Kyrie and DeAndre Jordan

To recap, the Nets traded 6 first rounders, + 3 pick swaps, for the past prime versions of Wallace, Deron, JJ, KG, and Pierce. And come 2019 they can finally get some draft relief.
Nets fan here: Prokhorov decided that he wanted to win a championship immediately, so he forced Billy King (a bad GM to begin with) to go all-in). They actually put a really strong team together with about a one or two season window, but injuries messed it up, and now they're screwed.

as a nets fan all I can say is this is all behind us now we finally have our draft picks back and we do have a future now and we don't have Billy King anymore it sucks this had to happen to us but at least it's a lesson learned we are in great hands now with Marks

You're forgetting that the nets pick was actually no.1 overall and traded to the sixers. We would've picked fultz. So not much lost there. Garnett was traded for thad young later traded for the 20th pick that turned into Caris LeVert who is way better than jaylen brown. And Harris I don't see how he's linked to us. In hindsight this trade didn't hurt us that much. In fact if it wasn't for this trade we never get the front office we have today.
