- The Brooklyn Nets have been one of the most surprising teams in 2019 and they are looking to lock up a playoff spot. Their success is even more impressive after managing to recover from Billy King's Reign of terror during his time as the Nets General Manager.
This timeline starts with Mikhail Prokhorov buying the New Jersey Nets and relives the reactions to the Deron Williams, Gerald Wallace, Joe Johnson and of course the blockbuster Celtics Trade.
This failed rebuild highlights how even moves that are viewed positively at the the time can turn terribly wrong.

The fact the Nets managed to recover from this mess despite throwing away what it seemed like the future 10 years of the franchise is impressive as well.

It's actually crazy to think that they did all that to 1. get Deron Williams and 2. try and keep Deron Williams when in those deals they traded away getting Damian Lillard, 5x the player Deron was. Hindsight really is 20/20 though!

Ah man this video just brings back painful memories, especially considering what we could have gotten if the nets didn’t make those stupid ass trades. But I would say it turned out well.
That trade was a incredible disaster. They looked at guys who couldn't compete against a Knicks team that Indiana wiped out and said "yes let's go get those guys." Paul Pierce then left after one season and bashed the organization .
Everyone bags this trade but it's like what could they do. At the time it was considered a great trade and the team and organisation wanted to win so what could they do. They made a trade to win now and it didn't quite get there. But they couldn't really not do those trades. It's turned out pretty ok now cause they will make the playoffs just 5ish years after those trades
Imagine if Dwight was traded to New Jersey and had D.Williams to feed him...
