Today's video covers the comic book origins of, powers of, and some fun facts about Maya Lopez, otherwise known to Marvel comics fan's as Echo. Maya was a young girl when he father, an enforcer for Wilson Fisk, was brutally murdered by The Kingpin. She was raised by Fisk to believe Daredevil killed her father. Maya, born deaf, was capable of mimicking all sorts of fighting styles and actions simply by seeing them. Fisk attempted to use these powers when Maya became an adult to kill Daredevil. Maya and Daredevil eventually became friends and lovers. Maya has been part of multiple superhero teams like The New Avengers, the Avengers, and Initiative. She even recently inherited the powers of the Phoenix Force.

I find it weird that kingpin didnt die in either the comics or the show. He didnt even lose an eye even tho he litteraly gets shot pointblank in the face

But wasn't the Phoenix a woman first anyway? Why would people say it went woke just because Echo got it? I think people are more upset because they made Echo into something completely different, not as grounded and with weird, not well explained powers. The show was all over the place with run time and pacing. Fisk was taken out by 4 fingers of love, basically. Kevin Feige is not in tune with the core Marvel fan base. Marvel has gone tone deaf, if you will.
@@DPSFSU I guess they would say because she is not white, it's woke. For some, woke just means anything that is not straight, white, and/or male.
@@GO-GO_SO-SO that's dumb AF! I don't care about race swapping for characters but when they do blatant gender swaps just to seem more "woke" is seriously spitting in the face of true fans and the creators. What if they made Scarlet Witch male, because men can be witches too, and Wanda was your favorite character in the comics. You wouldn't be happy. It seems like a huge disservice to the people who created the characters and stories.

@@perrygilbert8276 that's... literally the point. They have the same "ability". Almost identical.
@@Galaxies3000 yeah but just because one character shares the same ability as another, that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re versions or copies of each other. That’s like saying Falcon is just Angel from X-Men because they both have wings or Winter Soldier is just Captain America with no shield. They’re only similar in abilities but not much else.
How on Earth would somebody with her visual skills and dissecting memory not be able to tell that Daredevil was too young to be the person to kill her father up until she finds out who he actually is?
She should have been able to figure that out the first time she saw him lol
I think, with any fiction, there is a certain level of suspension of belief. Kinda like why doesn’t anyone know Clark Kent is superman.
@@KeyIssues it's not about figuring out who Daredevil is it's the simple fact that she should have known just looking at him that he's not old enough to be the guy who killed her father. You don't have to be a genius to tell the difference between a 30 year old and a 50 year old
And even when it comes to Clark Kent in the comic books people point out a lot that he looks like Superman but nobody believes that he's Superman because he's such a goofball act that he puts on to fool people lol

I thought this show started off strong but the wheels came off in the last episode. Really letdown
