Qing Empire/Qing dynasty (1644-1912) Anthem of the Beyang Fleet "'北洋水师军歌'"

- The Qing dynasty, also known as the Qing Empire, officially the Great Qing, was the last imperial dynasty of China, established in 1636 and ruling China from 1644 to 1912. It was preceded by the Ming dynasty and succeeded by the Republic of China. The Qing multi-cultural empire lasted almost three centuries and formed the territorial base for the modern Chinese state. It was the fourth-largest empire in world history.

This is true Chinese Culture
Mike Well, there's always heated debate between Manchurian and Han about what's true Chinese culture online.
Kovaiochi U are welcome.
I want to know your answer about it. Since I have Manchurian origins as well as Mongol. I mean no hate m8 i just want to know
Noiambatman I think it depends on the time frame. If you were talking about the early days of Manchuria and Qing dynasty (IMO time before Kangxi Emperor), then Ming would be the legitimate representative of Chinese culture and holder of the mandate of heaven. I would say Manchu expansion was an example of foreign aggression against Chinese.
But when you are referring to the more recent time, I admit Manchurian Qing dynasty was the legitimate representative of China. Yes, there are certain things I still found disturbing about a Manchu dynasty such as ponytails and reluctance to reforms when you contrast with Japanese Meiji reforms. However, if Manchurian nobles did convert to a mature constitutional monarchy that shares power with Han, Mongols and other ethnic groups in China, I would be OK with a Manchurian Emperor that ruled entire modern China and Mongolia.
Thus, I am neither pure Han nationalist nor loyalists to Manchurian. My point of view would be close to that of Liang Qichao. I felt pity for the Guangxu Emperor who truly tried to save China despite losing some of his absolute powers. (He is definitely better than Hong Xiongquan, leader of the Taiping Revolt.) However, someone like Cixi Dowager would discuss me and I would probably revolt against her who shut down the wuxu reformation, ceded outer Manchuria and used naval fees to build her own garden. Yes, I definitely weigh Han Chinese Emperor above Manchurian Emperor, yet the interest of entire China not limited to the Chinese proper is more important than the ethnicity of the emperor. So if we have an open-minded emperor that support the constitutional monarchy, willing to embrace Western technology and respect Han traditions, I would support his work.

Any great empire must have an anthem just as great as itself. The Qing were beyond this of course.
Qing dynasty, or ancient China, did not have a real "navy" until 1880s they established the first Chinese true near modern navy "Beiyang fleet". Beiyang fleet was annihilated by Imperial Japan navy during the first Japanese-Sino War(1894-1895), then it was rebuilt . This Anthem of the Beyang Fleet might possibly composed after Beiyang fleet was rebuilt in the last decade of Qing dynasty.
No, they had a large fleet as early as the early 15th century, if you know the story about the Ming Dynasty explorer Zheng He
@@ericlai1659 No, The grand fleet let by Zheng He was not truly comparable with the true "navy" that in terms of gaining sea control, project power. The Zheng He fleet was built for specific missions in a specific period, and it always sailed along the littoral area (that the shore were always in visual range) and never go into deep ocean.
@@picardtseng So you mean before the nineteenth century, except for European countries and maybe Ottoman Turkey. No country has a real navy ?
@@picardtseng Stop farting. You just want to say that European civilization is greater. Zheng He's fleet has been to Indonesia, so didn't it enter the deep sea? Could Zheng He's fleet at that time easily destroy any European fleet? In ancient times, the Chinese civilization was far stronger than the Europeans, understand the situation
@@picardtseng Before the Industrial Revolution, European civilization had never surpassed China. Gunpowder, muskets, artillery...many inventions originated from China. The Chinese defeated the Huns and conquered the Turks in ancient times. This is something you could not dream of. You have to be aware of this. It is true that Europeans have done unprecedented value in hundreds of years, but don’t try to steal glory with lies

Brits were drug cartels at the time. But they have nothing to do with the destructipn of Beiyang Fleet. Instead, Brits and German sold first-class battleships and cruisers to facilitate the creation of this fleet. Poor discipline and corruption among the imperial court ruined this glorious armada in the shameful loss against Japanese.
Governments today are still intricately linked to the drug trade.
Really?🙄
Koninkrijk Yes. I am very aware of what to be blamed and what not to be blamed for colonizers like Brits. For example, the pride of the Beiyang Fleet were the German-built steel turret battleships Dingyuan 定遠 and Zhenyuan 鎮遠.Another pair of protected cruisers, Chingyuan 靖遠 and Zhiyuan 致遠, were built by Armstrong Whitworth in 1887 at its new Elswick yard. The latter pair were a class loosely known as the "Elswick Cruisers", ships built for export under a generally similar design. These cruisers were fast (25 knots) and heavily armed, but were not adopted by the Royal Navy because the Admiralty considered them to be "weak in structure". (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beiyang_Fleet)
Chi Zhang Japan has been producing modern weapons and ships since 1867, so that’s an advantage

The Bejiang Fleet top10 most powerfull in the World at the time, as 2 battleship with enormous gun and multiple modern cruiser
Or a small japonese fleet made of small cruiser, corvette and armed merchant
Actually the Bejiang was destroyed because the Quing Dynasty was too busy partying so they didn't had enought budget and they ran on horribly low quality coal and gunpowder making the fleet a paper tiger, will the admiral did a mistake at the begining of the battle and he was wounded soon after and couldn't anymore give order, no one corrected the mystake and the fleet was doomed.
So, the anthem of the Qing dynasty is the song of which called solid gold something, and this one is for their naval force?
Yes correct, However bare in mind that the Qing didn't have one fleet like most countries today. It had 4 different Naval Forces fleets. The most powerful was the Beyang Fleet. The Anthem in this video is of the Beyang fleet

the Beiyang fleet was composed of modern cruisers destroyers and a 2 battleships mainly foreign built.
This is not the Qing Fleet. The Imperial fleet existed pretty much until the end at some extenct and they even had ships from the past dynasties. But in the 1870s (about) they made the Qing Navy which was consisted of 4 Fleets. All of them modern but some more outdated than others. The Beyang fleet was the best of all and the Beyang fleet alone was bigger than the entire Japanese navy and at some time it was the best in all of Asia. The Anthem in this video is about the Beyang fleet which is why you see a modern (for the time) Steamship Battleship.
