      I'm so glad you got those vibes because Anthony Bourdain is a real inspiration for me, and Japan was his most favourite place on the planet. I'll try to do him proud and cover Japan exploration the same chill and honest way he did on his shows.
      And yes, so happy to team up with Dan again! He is a busy man, with his own work schedule, but we're figuring out a way to film. I really appreciate that we're occasionally seeing the grittier side of things and that alleyways, sidewalks and underpasses aren't neglected here in favour of showing us the *sparkly* sakura-patterned cleanliness of guidebook Tokyo. It's a City, and an old, evolving one at that, and this is the way a local feels walking around their own neighbourhood! Little flaws that allow a place to show it's lived in. Excellent Tour, thank you Martina.
    It was really well presented and edited. I guess it took a bit of planning and a lot of time to put together.
    The "third party" camera person added a really good feel, I don't have an issue with self held gimbals, or static tripods, but sometimes it's nice to have that organic feel too, without "camera shake".
    I loved that you used some of your track "Starlight" too. I really enjoy your music just as much as your videos.

    • @KingKogi
      @KingKogi  Před 2 lety +44

      Thanks for such a thoughtful comment Issac. It was an interesting video to film, because my teammate on this project, Dan, did the wide shots and the follow-shots of me (no tripods) but slow mo helps the shake. And I was taking the close up and "arty" shots.
      So we had to trust each other and make sure in advance that we were on the same page, and not overlapping with the same shots while missing others. It worked quite well, but we'll only get better as we film more tours.
      Also, so glad you like my music, means a lot to me coming from a musician like you. Oh, and I made the Tokyo Tours theme song for this video! Wanted a nice little chill, jazzy, but upbeat tune. I find myself humming it at home, so I think it worked 😂

    I have IBS and a bunch of food intolerances that pretty much make it impossible to eat out, let alone eat out without anxiety, so I keep my fun and exploration to things other than food. While I still enjoy food focused videos, I do really appreciate when you include non-food things in videos. I feel like this video is an awesome example of incorporating non-food focused exploration. Thank you!! I can't wait to see more videos like this! :)

    On another note, I recently moved to the city all by myself and watching you be the most comfortable with yourself has given me the confidence to explore without needing to find someone to do it with. It's led to me making friends with some neighbors, a free poem from a guy on the street, and petting lots and lots of dogs at the park

    I love the style of this video! And what you said about sometimes wanting familiar food as a "reset" hits home SO HARD. When I was living in Japan, I would always go to McDonalds or Auntie Anne's when I got homesick, even though I never ate them when I was back home. I'm adding all of these places to my bucket list for when I go back!

    This felt right! It was so wonderful to see Martina out and exploring and building the hell out of a ladder! I hope with all my heart that Dan was the cameraman, they had so much fun back innige day! I was so worried for a bit when I heard that she was returning to Japan, I was afraid she wouldn’t be able to do things on her own (because of her EDS). But seeing her have the support of others, seeing her getting back out there and deliver us the true spirit of EYK (which I’ve always felt was mostly her anyway), it really does my heart good! It says “She’s going to be alright, she’s going to make it!”. She also has us to back her up and support her unconditionally!
