SSR Motorsports SEEV-800 Video Review - Cheap Cool Looking Electric Scooter

  • electricridereview.com/ssr-mo... The SSR Motorsports SEEV-800 is a stealthy electric scooter that only costs $1,599 and it comes with extra wide 9.5" tires that keep it upright almost without the kickstand... turning requires a bit more force from the arms like a motorcycle. Super quiet but powerful 800 watt gearless hub motor, these are known for being durable and long lasting, variable speed twist throttle is smooth and intuitive (full grip twist design). Available in three color combinations but only one frame size, the bars are adjustable forward and back for a relaxed upright body position, you can stand for comfort when riding over bumps. Beautiful looking plastic fenders should keep you dry and clean, the battery offers good capacity but isn't removable which could make charging difficult, servicing flats or changign tires might require the help of a motorcycle shop, it's heavy.

      Thank you so much! I work hard to prepare for each video and try to keep it fun and actually show the parts I'm referring to. After some time reflecting it's cool to post a writeup with even more insights, lots of work but these things cost lots of money ;)

      I think you're do a great job on your views. I was actually thinking about getting this pacific scooter. But glad I waited for your review before I purchase. cause it's not going to fit in my apartment, to big. and it cost more than what I think it worth.

    • @ElectricRideReview
      @ElectricRideReview  Před 7 lety

      Fair enough! It's true that this thing is large and heavy, I like the style but you don't get lights, turn signals or any storage so there are some real trade-offs compared to other offerings in the similar price range :)

      @harryguy76 Před 7 lety +6

      Yes I agree.People buying chinese products dirt cheap then import it into the US and charge 2 or 3 sometime 4 times what they payed.
      It gives e bikes a bad name cause some poor guy payed 4 grand for a piece of junk that he could have bought for a fraction of the price then a year later the battery takes a dump and a replacement cost 2 grand while the resale value of the bike is 500 if you are lucky that you just payed 4k for a year ago.
      All these dicks trying to get rich off each bike are hurting the e bike community leaving many to believe e bikes are overpriced pieces of junk.

    Wonder how this compares to something like the Razor Ecosmart Electric Scooter. Also these are meant to be like those kick-scooters but with a seat and much much better tires. Not to be confused with mopeds or motor scooters. Which sadly unlike these most states now require a license or Class B endorsement to ride. Which is usually easier to get than a drivers license but still.

    Someone asked if that guy was stealing a bike when the Fed Ex truck pulled up. I doubt they'd leave bikes that are unattended unlocked right in front of the store. If they did they'd be asking for a lot of trouble. I've seen this type of display--arrangement & they had a long & pretty thick chain connecting several bikes. So my guess is that it is either his bike or he's made prior arrangements with the store to test drive it. This is based on what I've seen @ 8:27 in.

    Badass! An aluminum frame would vastly reduce the weight of that thing and improve the overall ride making it quicker (0-20), and faster (top end) as well as improving battery longevity. I love this thing and think it would make a great replacement for my Go-ped. It surprises me that this design wasn’t an American idea first, but I think the Asians have been doing it a lot longer if not more than the US so maybe they have more evolved ideas on what’s next and cool in the market, and with that being said they (China) also make a whole lot of absolute junk.

    Re: motorbike license
    If you're struggling and "pushing" the outside bar to get into the turns, it's not surprising that you're struggling (your mind is fighting the counter intuitive physics), you should be pushing the outside bar and when you want to stand the bike up (like flicking it quick through "S" bends) you push on the inside bar
    It's called counter steering and you have to do it whether you think so or not, it's physics
    Try this...
    Roll along the road (when it's clear) at a low speed, hardly touching bars, give a very tiny little push on the left bar (I do mean tiny), your brain may well be thinking that you'll turn right but you won't in fact the bike will turn left
    The way a bike steers is by leaning over so it's running on the outside of the tyre which has a smaller circumference, the only time you "steer" the bike by turning the bars in the direction you want to go is when you're wheeling it around the garage/drive

    • @robambrose4199
      @robambrose4199 Před rokem

      Yes but apparently the wide flat tyres mean you really have to lean into turns, to get it to corner, so not sure you're entirely right in this case. I've never ridden one, just heard reviews saying that.

    Tesla had a customer run over a trailer hitch on the road - apparently it fell out of the receiver of someone's car. To make a long story short, that solid hunk of metal penetrated the Tesla's battery module and caused a major fire - destroying the car. Any bike, scooter or whatever that has energy dense Lithium Ion type batteries hung below deck better have MAJOR metal protection for the batteries. Otherwise, a fire could be the result from hitting a curb or something solid. A big heavy scooter hitting a curb or something solid could penetrate a flimsy metal battery cover pretty easily. You should make sure to look closely at this when you do your reviews.
