Katatonias new album so so great
The song is basically about someone in a medical institution who has been neglected and just kept on drugs. They "can't wait out the longest journey" of life with the "circumscription" that they will not return from is entering the other side. The metaphor seems to be like circumscribing a globe to the other side of it and having walked "past the compass" that guides their way.
They ask if their heart is brave enough to pass into death, and asks for a view from a window to see the birds. The birds spoken of are crows, which has long been considered omens of death: "premonitions of the other side"
The "chapel of Eschaton" is a euphemism of the Karolinska Institute, a medical research university in Stockholm, Sweden, the coordinates of which are the numbers repeated in the bridge section of the song. Given that eschatology is the study of the end times, the “chapel” is where the person is, and wishes to leave through death. They are kept under the influence of sedatives ("smog of days through nights the same", "oh the spell is kicking in") and he thanks them for their negligence ("I commend the dereliction") because it will hasten their end. They take one last look at the city skyline before they leave this life.
Seemingly, they are saying to follow the birds to those coordinates, and if we use the motif of the birds as omens of death, you will find them there en masse.
