    I like this method with maintaining the original amount of shock travel.

      That wooden stick lasted a whole 3 minutes before I knew I needed something better. Thankfully they make those jack handles in two pieces.

      Thanks. Just going to do some smaller cosmetic stuff, bigger items will be coming soon. I want to do a 21" front wheel, get back to white walls, Need some better bars maybe 14" meat hooks. The path to a Cholo build is long bro. Thanks for your support and watching.

    Could you do a 1000 mile follow up. I'm on the verge of putting these on my RK and would be interested in hearing your thought after living with them for a while. By the way, where did you get the ones you used?

    • @Mikeityourself
      @Mikeityourself  Před rokem +1

      Here is the link to the ones I bought. www.amazon.com/dp/B0756XJGG4?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
      Im probably not going to make the 1k review mark only because Ive got a few plans in the near future that would be removing these for a full suspension change. But I can do another review before I do remove them, anticipate it would be in July timeframe.

      @@Mikeityourself Thanks for the link. I'm just going to give them a try. For 17 bucks if I decide to take them off, no big deal.

    I used those on my '06 RK and the tire wiped out the wire harness that is running under the fender.

    • @Mikeityourself
      @Mikeityourself  Před rokem

      That sucks; I feel like I got pretty lucky with it not tearing through that channel on my fender. Thanks for watching.

    Great Video.... I lowered my 2008 Ultra Glide.. same procedure... but found myself bottoming out often... So, I raised the air shock pressure... just a little... any comments?..

    • @Mikeityourself
      @Mikeityourself  Před rokem

      Thanks for the support. With the increase of air pressure, was the ride still comfortable or was it pretty stiff? Are you going more after the look or reach? If its the reach, I'd suggest a seat swap, something a little more low pro but keep in mind, they tend to be stiffer seats and 400+ bucks a pop. I've heard dropping your forks can also make a huge difference; say you drop the front 2 inches and the rear about 1 (would need to look at the stance) but it could be a combo to get what would work best. I think that's the route I'm going to go with a Burly Slammer Kit, includes front and rear. Hope it works out for you, thanks again for watching and see you in the wind!

    • @lasvegasnewsagency
      @lasvegasnewsagency Před rokem +1

      @@Mikeityourself Yes... it's for reach... and I did some work on the seat, essentially trimmed the foam and even added a gel pack in the center... all of which worked out well... but I'm still not low enough for comfort... definitely can't flat foot... As you suggest, I will look into the front fork trimming, I didn't know I could get up to 2 inches off... Thanks for your help! - Keep up the Great Work, you're an awesome host brother.

    Cute . Careful adjusting things like this, you could goof up your angling. Good idea with the flag, u can put it up when the cameras going, then take it down when the in laws show up lol. These you're first two bikes? What did you start on?

    • @Mikeityourself
      @Mikeityourself  Před rokem +1

      Wish I could fly my flag outside but Ive got HOA non-sense to deal with. I started riding back as a kid, Yamaha Trail bike, if I remember it was a 70cc bike. Progressed over the years, rode a few honda's (Rebel, Shadow's, Nighthawks), Did a custom build on a 95 KZ1000P, Yamaha FJR1300, Fat boy (EVO), and now im rolling on my Road Glide (M8) and Road King (Twin Cam 96). Wish I could have kept every bike but I need to hit the lottery first, that and get a good size property to build one big a$$ garage on. Thanks for watching and supporting my channel, Ride safe.

    Did your rear wheel ever bottom out on the fender with dropping 2"?

    • @Mikeityourself
      @Mikeityourself  Před 9 měsíci

      Not while riding 1 up. If going solo, you're probably good. I'm a big boy at 250 so that should help gauge things. If you do plan to go two up, I'd stay no more than 1 inch drop or look at a lower but stiffer suspension like the burly slammers. Good luck and thanks for watching.

  • @hapahound
    @hapahound Před 9 měsíci +1

    How do you like how it rides now after the lowering kit was installed?

    • @Mikeityourself
      @Mikeityourself  Před 9 měsíci +2

      Hi Hap, It rode great at the 2 inch mark but what i didnt know was that was cutting it close. I decided to go down to 3 inches, went on a ride and found it kept rubbing the fender. I got lucky it didnt get any of the wires. When i took a better look, the 2 inch mark was good for me as a solo but if I would have gone 2-up, I would have been rubbing again. So decided to ditch them and planning for an air ride. The goal was to help with the height due to my mustang seat but the ebay special i picked up seems to have resolved that issue. Thanks for the support.

      I'm on the fence with either going air up front or doing a burly 1 to 2 inch drop. I need to do more research. Thanks for watching.

    What’s your height. 5 7

  • @209er2
    @209er2 Před rokem +4

    Your ruin the lean angle when you do this. The road king sits up higher because you can lean it more and make sharper turns 🤦‍♂️

    • @Mikeityourself
      @Mikeityourself  Před rokem

      You are 100% correct, any modification will change the lean angle of the motorcycle. I eventually lowered this down to 3" and rode through some pretty decent curves without issue. Rode my ride and worked out for me. If the plan is to wipe out any sign of a chicken strip, lowering your bike would not be the thing to do. Appreciate the feedback and see ya in the wind.
