You're correct Red Stripe was stronger. It has been brewed under licence in Bedford since 1976. Charles Wells originally brewed it there but Marstons (Carlsberg group) now run the Eagle brewey in Bedford taking over the brewing of all Charles Wells and Youngs beers too.
