And something to think about kilamanjaro bell kelled at least 800 elephants with the 7x57 aka 275 rigby. Thats good shot placement and big big balls to do that.
IIRC from reading Bell used a 7mm 175 grain solid bullets at close range on Elephants. While the 275 Rigby version was a 7x57 cartridge loaded with 140 grain expanding bullets
Bell used ex German millitary Fmj ammo. Dwm and Rws . Due to the english and austrian ammo in 6,5MS and .318 WR just then were plagued with split cases and pierced primera. He got a see with his 6,5 omce and that was one of reasons why he went with his 7mm as primary until something else turned up. With Rigby rifle in .318 he did not have the problems .
Another great review video. Schmidt&Bender have a winner in a dangerous game scope with a built-in red dot setting! God bless you and yours. Keep up the good work, my friend I have never met!
I have 2 Mauser rifles built by a local smith , one is marked .275 Rigby the other is a 9.3x62 , both are on 1909 Argentine Mauser actions , i bought them and a K98 Mauser he brought back from ww2 at his estate sale 30 years ago .
Thank you. Nice rifles. I understand that the only ‘Mauser by Mauser’ firearms currently available are: 27mm aircraft cannon, as seen on various European fighter aircraft BUT Winchester has been that way, since the USRAC days. It will be the same with the rumoured Jeffery relaunch.
Yes, Mauser is now owned by the Lüke & Ortmeier Gruppe, and does manufacture Mauser rifles and actions, Rigby uses the actions as they are owned by the same parent company. I spoke to the guys and you can look at the new Jeffery website, but they use actions made by FZH in Germany ! That is why older original rifles built on original oberndorf mauser actions, hold their value so well !
These are not out of date by any means and are as relevant today as they ever were. The 7x57 (275) is the queen of hunting cartidges, as is the 416. Perhas with the 375 H&H you have the whole world of hunting covered. This trend to short action rifles has a serious downside. These are poor feeding, specially in an emergency and have light weight which make them very unpleasant to shoot. No one should go hunting with a rile weighing less than 9lbs. In such a rifle all the weight sould be around the action. As such they are fast to aim, fast on a second shot and have manageable recoil.
As far as I can find out Lüke & Ortmeier Gruppe owns the Mauser brand name as well as John Rigby & Co.Mauser has been just a brand name since after WWII.

I enjoy your demonstration with these rifles and purpose immensely. I’m big fan of the Mauser and Brno actions …

Very well said, thank you!

Love the rifles!
But please put a pad of some sort in the crotch of the shooting sticks. Unless you don't like the forearm checkering..... 😉
Thanks for the advice, the soft leather covering the sticks protect the wood really well.
Can you pick up these two rifles at Walmart?
🥲Not right now, but I see quite a number on Guns International.com
You have to do penetration test with a 4 1 6 how disappointing
