Kayoung was born in Karlsruhe (city in Baden-Württemberg, Germany). She moved back to Korea with her family when she was 10 years old. Considering she lived in Germany for 10 years, it's no surprise that she is fluent in their language.
In an interview she said, she still talks in German at home especially with dad and her older sister so she won't forget about it. in a show with Kim Eana, Kayoung said she forgot (german) a lot when she came to korea. Also her phone is set in German.
Fun fact: In Problematic Men, she said she mixed German, English and Korean together while talking with her sister.

That's pretty normal actually since languages do have a general tone and German is deep in comparison to english
I recognized recently as a German that one reason I can't pronounce English words well is because I deepen my voice as much as I can automatically. It's way easier talking English when I highen it. It's interesting that that's a thing

It’s probably because she’s more comfortable speaking German, when you speak a language your comfortable with sometimes your voice goes deeper. When I speak Arabic my voice goes higher than it does when I speak Korean and English. I can confirm, I am horridly uncomfortable when speaking Arabic 🤧
I live in Germany and I can tell that’s normal. When I talk in English or French my voice is higher.
I find it very funny how she speaks English, not with a korean accent, but with a German accent 🤣🤣
That's stereotyping asians. She grew up in Germany ofc she is gonna hv a German accent like all the locals there. Let's say for example if a Chinese boy grow up in America do u think they will hv a Chinese accent when they speak English?

I'm thai and my first language is Thai. I moved to the UK when I was 13 and I have an English accent when I speak in English. then I moved to Spain 4 years ago, but I speak Spanish with a "thai" accent (like you can hear the thai vowel sounds come out when I speak Spanish." I never said it was a bad thing. it's just funny how everyone is so different

I think most of Germany people can talk in english fluently cause they use to talk in english. It's more like a basic knowledge for them

@@hisokasbfjc4463 I would say It depends on were you went to school, how much different languages are needed in the type of job your working in or what your personal interests are. In school I had 3 english teachers and only one of them was good. I learned most of my English at home or through TV shows.

Majority of Germans speaks English with German accent. I used to speak like that as well. I lived in West Berlin. I'm quiet surprised that she's actually born in Germany. Sometimes the best talent is actually from outside the country. She speaks more than 2 languages is not a surprise. Majority of Europeans speak 3 or more languages. I speak 4 & learning 5th right now.

For being a native German speaker her Korean is amazing! Nobody noticed this but it's really hard to maintain your native language when you're born and raised in a place that doesn't use it. Aka Jessi in Korean or me in Arabic. Amazing

I also study german, me and my class were 9th grade when we started studying it, now we are 12th grade, we are finishing high school and we don't know a thing in german. Well, I only know how to read and a few words and that's it. Kayoung makes me regret the past 3 years! 😭

@@rini9325 It's actually a mixture of both. Sometimes she follows the Germanic tone to saying sentences while saying the words in Korean English accent. Hence, that's why you only heard the korean accent while the other heard the Germanic tone she used to deliver her sentence. It's so interconnected and changing constantly. So FABULOUS!

@@ramm.4863 Not to be rude or anything but I don't know if you know it or not, but "Frau" translated means "Miss" or "Misses" so if a persons last name is Schneider for example you say "Frau Schneider" which means "Mrs. Schneider". I just noticed that a lot of people who learn german make this mistake so I wanted to correct it. Hope it did not come off as awkward or rude/angry😅

Her english accent is quite unique because it def sounds like a mix of a german and korean accent depending on what shes saying. But the mix of them also causes her to sound like shes speaking with a queens english British accent at parts which is interesting. Clearly very smart girl for knowing all those languages.
