Great tips. I have the same issue and was going to replace the entire ball valve. It is much easier to replace the handle. That said, I am having troubled finding the same ball valve. Can you tell me what you used as the style is identical. All the ball valves I am seeing on line have the screw to attached the handle. Mine is like in the video where the handle cap fits into the two slots with no screw. Thanks in advance.

Thank you SO much for this video!! Have realized we can replace the handles ourselves. Only issue is finding the replacement handles - any idea where to find this specific type? So far I can only find those that have a screw under the cap (but look the same otherwise).
its easiest to go buy a new ball valve of the same size and brand and just swap the handle out, a little wasteful, but finding a replacement handle is a little difficult

What brand is this replacement ball valve? Mine is with the two tabs but the ones I’d have to take apart to find out if it has the two prongs. If you could tell me where you got yours that would help too. Thanks in advance.
How do you pop the cap off, if the ball valve is down in a recess, and you can only get at it from directly above ?

I have the same problem. But I don't understand. How do I put mustard out on the screw? Do I pop the cap off? Or do I just the oil all over the handle?
my cap fell off, but I can't tell if the valve is stuck partially open or closed. Any way to find out?
Like I installed the cap back into it but not in the same position as when it fell off, so I want to know if it is restricting water flow.
sadly tho ..when I took the broken tap off ..where it was screwed into was cracked ..meaning I will have to cut it off and replace the whole thing ...but nevertheless your advice was the best first port of call ...and I now have it stored in my memory bank ..thanks
I have same kind of valve in my sprinklers box and it’s leaking on that round cap in the middle of the valve. Any way someone can tell me why and how to fix that. Before today I only had little bit of the water when I just turn the valve on. But today is full stream of water out of it.

Do you happen to know the manufacture or where you got yours from? We only have 2 different styles here in my town that I can not swap out the handles from the models as they are the screw in type.

This did not work for me the new handle was exactly the same brand and everything the sticker was still around and we even compared the numbers on it. But it was slightly larger than the old one. I noticed there's an o ring in there. I replaced that and it worked.
Glad you mentioned the O ring. Mine all leak from the top of the handle and I'll bet it's the o-ring.

what if the stem snaps off?
My 2” ball valve is actually leaking out the top of the cap. I really really don’t want to have to dig up the entire valve box and 4 feet of buried line to cut and glue a new valve in. I’m really hoping a can just replace the handle and new cap. Wish me luck!

thats nice in theory. But my handle sheared completely off. The white "wings" part of the shaft just tore right off. This is the 2nd time this has happened. These ball valves get stuck over time, harder and harder to turn. I don't know if its chlorine or what but something inside these red ball valves is just not compatible long-term with pool water.

mine was near the ground so I had to dig around it and cut the whole valve out and replace it. I used the same type again and it broke again. now I just leave it open. next time I would use a knife valve.

The ball in a 3/4 ball valve is stuck in the closed position and attempting to open it to get water out of the tank the red handle keeps turning how can someone get the ball to the opened position so that the water can flow from the tank

Replacement parts are hard to find, go buy a full new one and swap out the handle
