SHE-HULK Episode 8: Review & Breakdown

- Well, it finally happened. After waiting all season for a certain someone to make his grand MCU debut, we finally got it in the second to last episode. But is it enough to make this show worth it? Did it pay off at all? Did they do him any justice, or was our boy Disney-fied?
In this video, I’ll give you guys a brief, spoiler-free review of this eighth episode, and then recap/review the episode bit by bit.
We've only got one episode left, do you have any hope left in the series? What do you think is going to happen in the finale? Was THIS worth following for the past eight weeks?

For me this is the best episode for the season so far. Daredevil made She-Hulk look like a side character in her own show by out schooling her in the courtroom and as a superhero.

For a dare devil Cameo....this was a good Cameo at the end of a bad show. The hall way scene was to pay homage to the Netflix show and to show of power level and upgrades to daredevil equipment wise. But the rest could be seen as Matt in town for business/vacation and some shit happened while he was there whitch lead to a entertaining episode. Doesn't excuse or make up for the rest of the show at all. But everything up until daredevil left was good. Seen a more laid back funny side to Matt/DD
But we know he's still a bad ass. This episode on her scale is at least a 5 out of 10

To be totally honest, I expected way worse than what we got. Matt for the most did feel like Matt.
Men don't have a "walk of shame." The lack of understanding of males by the writers is like watching a toddler play chess, they know the pieces do something, but it's beyond their comprehension exactly what it is.

This was a great episode! It was a perfect representation of comic book Daredevil; lighthearted when he has to be, but brutal and serious when he should be.
Maybe, but it was a horrible depiction of the daredevil people loved on Netflix. Which is why it's so hated
The complete 180 in Jens attitude towards men is laughble to me. She spends all season whining and crying about how she can't find a good man to connect with, going so far as to date terrible men and stalk one of her prospects obsessively, but then sweet, smart, charming DD shows up... and she treats him like a cheap hookup before kicking him out and acting smug about it? Why should I have given a shit about anything she cried about before? And then, Jen's biggest enemy turns out to be... being doxxed.
This show is insulting, I hate it, I'm so glad it's almost over.
I actually thought he was handled very well in this episode and this is just him written to fit the tone of she hulk. I’m very excited to see him in his show or other shows.

No they don't. It's okay if you hate Disney, but gotta give them credit when it's due. DD carried this episode and the whole show. And I like this "more laid back" Matt as I take it because he's now a seasoned lawyer/vigilante.

This episode was the best episode of the series to me. I gave Daredevil a pass for quipping because to me at least it wasn’t completely going against the character (plus I guess after Season 3 of DD Matt’s embracing the light he has in his life, at least that’s what I think) but this episode was solely carried by Daredevil and the rest of the show is 🐶💩

This by far the best episode of the series because of Daredevil. The fight scene at the “Lilypad” was also pretty good. However, they spoil it all with the award scene. Seriously, did the women actually say crap like, “I do twice the work and get half the recognition” while being on stage GETTING AN AWARD? Great review!

Nah, the award scene was actually pretty good (aside from that one shitty line of dialogue). I like how the episode basically proved every single one of Hulk's points correct by showing Jen absolutely does NOT know how to handle her anger, and that once the public sees her as nothing but a crazed monster, that will never go away. She's only gone through a taste of what Bruce's been through, and she's already freaking the hell out.

I agree with your views on Jen not controlling her anger, but I thought it wasn't handled right. They are literally showing a sex tape of her on a big screen and nobody was doing anything to stop it. I would have done the exact same thing which was smash those TV if nobody was going to stop it.
The hallway fight scene has glaring obvious poor editing and choreography that I pointed out in several videos that have had many people commend and then me for pointing that out, because they'd have never noticed it (or at last didn't upon their 1st time watching), and I'm wondering how anyone doesn't notice that amateur mistake. How does DD start punching a guy with his left fist, only in the very next shot he strikes him with his right hand which has his Billy Club in it??!? Absolutely inexcusable and terrible editing/choreography. Ruined the whole fight scene for me just 10 seconds into it....

The only 2 real gripes I had with daredevil this episode was the walk of shame and in the fight scene with leap frog, he casually confirmed his identity to him smh. All things considered I was expecting much, much worse haha. And of course in the court seen the only reason Matt won was because Jenn’s client was a moron. They were never going to let him out-lawyer her in court
Actually the Hulk told her in the first episode that she needed to use her powers for good, but she would have none of it because she was a “better Hulk”. The thing that’s infuriating me the most are all the people fawning over this show, like this is the best thing ever on tv! There’s a recent article on INVERSE that says how condescending Matt was to Jen, the poor baby! This is in the same universe that has Rippley, Sarah Conner, Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman, Trinity and so many other badass females and this is the hill people are deciding to die on!

Personally, I genuinely enjoyed this episode the most out of this show so far, as well as Charlie Cox’s performance (for the most part), but I really don’t see Matt and Jen as a thing. It feels so off and doesn’t seem like a long term thing… I hope they’ll bring back Elektra somehow for Born Again, because her and Matt had the best chemistry.

Daredevil, not only schooled Jen, but he actually taught her to be a better person and made her a better character-- while also getting some badass moments. Not only did it feel like how he would be post season 3 of Daredevil, but he and Jen actually had good chemistry. Surprisingly, this episode was pretty good in my book compared to the rest. Like how her feud with Bruce actually ended up paying off, fortunately for me-- I've had just a glimmer of hope that they'd actually give her some consequences since the first episode.

I actually enjoyed the episode, it was the best of the entire show lmao. The Netflix theme of Daredevil playing, the hallway scene was lit and for the most part they handled him wayyy better than I was expecting. The only dumb part was jen mocking Bruce in episode 1 saying she can control her anger bc she does it all the time and the last few minutes literally nullified that lmao.

I really enjoyed the last few minutes of her raging out. Never followed she-hulk but that’s kind of stuff I’d like to see. Thought it was cool with her voice going “savage” like.
at that point she could control her anger for catcalling and mensplaining, the normal stuff a woman is faced in daily life.
she didn't expect to be slutshamed and having revengeporn be released in front of her parents, friends and colleagues.
that's a new level of anger that nobody could teach her to overcome, not even Bruce.
I'm not gonna lie, this episode was way better than the other episodes. Also I've heard that the writer of this episode is a writer from Marvel Comics.

Apparently Marvel isn't interested in good entertainment anymore but grossing us out. I almost threw up in my mouth with this monstrosity 🤮. Leave it to Disney to build up a franchise and then tear it down. But then again this episode has had the best action so far.

Not gonna lie, you can't say Disney ruined Daredevil yet until we see in his show. They probably adjusted Daredevil to fit She-Hulks overall tone of the show. That's what they do sometimes. After watching the masterpiece of Werewolf by Night, I'm confident they're going to do the darker characters right (Daredevil, Deadpool, Blade, Ghostrider, etc).
This was a genuinely good episode even aside from the Daredevil stuff first episode I actually enjoyed

This episode was super enjoyable, My Mom and I loved it
I liked Matt Murdock in this episode, he felt familiar (with the exception of him sniffing the microphone and commenting on the fuel of the boots, that was weird and a little too obvious) and I enjoyed the familiar presence… didn’t like daredevil as much.
I know why I didn’t though, it’s the contrast to the Netflix DD experience, he was more talkative and did some quips. I just prefer the full focused, no talk, break your bones on the way to the boss daredevil that we got from Netflix. (I will say though, my heart skipped a beat seeing him standing in a dimly lit hallway) Also it may be weird to say but I don’t like the master acrobat version we saw, his Netflix version felt very human, I miss street level crime superhero’s.
I did like how he sorta coached she hulk tho, pointing out how smashing through walls to save someone is a dumb idea in a hostage situation. I like that he shows his experience with rational thinking when conducting a rescue. This was definitely my favorite episode so far

I agree. He acted like a frat guy the way he was constantly smiling and making bad jokes (“My ass remains un-whupped.” Ugh!)
DD was almost close to be great you were right no hope for him. CGI was horrible and she beat Daredevil with the hulk clap. But the fight was good when DD took on against the goons. Then they did him dirty at the end with the "walk of shame" . Oh that female lawyer of the year award my ass she got for literally not doing great lawyer work got destroyed in literally seconds.
They did our boy sooo dirty.
cgi doesn't do for how they treated the character. It seems like they pulled daredevil right from his comics plus the hulk clap would be kyrptonite to someone like daredevil with super sensitive hearing

The saddest part about daredevil here is that he was just there because Jen is a self insert and the writer has the hots for him (as she said and I quote "who doesn't wanna hook up with daredevil?") but also the show just can't not humiliate a man that's been on screen for more than two minutes.

I enjoyed this episode. I really loved the chemistry between Matt and Jen. And I really enjoy the court scene, it actually felt like a court scene. But I really didn’t like that it turns out Leap-Frog used the wrong fuel for his jets. I also didn’t like the Daredevil walk of shame.

It felt like a court scene? Yikes. No jury? No courtroom etiquette? You aren’t allowed to just bicker. There’s testimony, witnesses, cross examination, etc. Most of us watched the Depp Heard trial. This writing is like some kid’s idea of how courts work. Not even traffic court is like this.

@@pkim23 a jury is not required in every legal case. There will be a jury in some civil cases such as defamation and assault cases.
However, for the majority of civil cases such as personal injuries action and family law cases, there's no jury. the judge decides the outcome.

Now what would be a great story in the next episode is that when jen is surrounded she questions why there already where agents waiting for her, and her boss reveals that he's the one who called them as a safety measure, jen askes why and he shows jen all the "Bad" things she did like property damage etc.
Jen turns to nikki who stands with pug and asks her if they knew about this, they both say that they did and reveal that they've always hated jen because of the way she talks and treats people. Even the other lawyers join in and say that they despise jen for basically having done nothing to earn her place and that she was hired because she's a hulk.
Jen gets really angry and starts to growl, her boss asks they soldiers to arrest her, the soldiers tase her but jen accidentally punches one of the soldiers with all her strength, killing the soldier. Everyone is in shock and starts running from jen, jen tries to explain but the soldiers start shooting at her, jen starts throwing cars and benches and then flees the scene and the soldiers call for an evacuation of the city.
Jen's boss gets on the phone and asks a shadowy figure to activate code red.
Finding herself in an ally, she goes back to human form, jen thinks about all the memories she had with her fake friends, she looks a her hand and starts to cry, it's still red from the blood of the soldier. As it starts to rain jen looks up at the sky and realises that this what bruce had to go through while he was the Hulk. He also had it rough, she also realises that they where right, she was so caught up in her own life that she failed to see that she was becomming the very thing she was always complaining about. Her "Friends were always listening to her problems, but not once did jen listen to them.
Jen tries to call bruce but he still doesn't pick up, in a fit of frustration jen throws her phone against the wall. Realising what she did jen tries to fix the phone but to no avail,jen falls to the floor and asks herself what bruce would do...
This episode was actually the first one that didn’t feel like a waste of time. I see people complaining about DareDevil hooking up with Jen, but part of his character is that he always gets the girl. The nurse lady from season 1, Elektra, Karen, etc. I gave up on this series after episode 6 and only came back after I saw news that DareDevil finally came. I was pleasantly surprised. The main thing I didn’t like about it was how lame and pointless the villains were. The MCU seems to struggle with writing good villains. Action scenes also could have been better. Overall, I’d give the episode a 7/10, and that is coming from someone who has considered every episode before a 0/10.
Daredevil was portrayed just fine this episode. His series had a lot of humor as well. Plenty of humor there great action sequences, he won the case in court. Matt Murdock and Jennifer Walter's had great chemistry.

I don’t think they ruined daredevil guys, I just think that they just did such a bad job with she hulk that Jen just doesn’t come up to par to being in the same show as daredevil. The courtroom was a good scene. I can see how the oil thing could be an oversight to someone who lives in a world full of superheroes… even tho it shows how bad at you are at asking questions prior. Also… it shows that you haven’t studied your field. I think it would be common to ask about suits and stuff since they introduced the suit maker honestly.
Finally someone else who feel they ruined the Daredevil we knew from Netflix! Can’t understand how everyone in the comments doesn’t feel the same way.
Firstly I thought the mustard and red costume sucked. And to go from the Netflix series which kinda felt a little darker at moments, to Daredevil out doing a walk of shame in his costume?? Just felt wrong.
And Daredevil didn’t school She Hulk - she naturally beat him, but far too easily and then de-masked him in a way that just hadn’t happened till the very end of the Daredevil series.
I was so happy to see Daredevil in the show and loved him in the initial courtroom scene - but then they did some weird MCU thing with him and i just did not like as much as a tried too.
I guess it only makes sense that since Daredevil was in the best thing Marvel has ever done that he should be in the worst thing Marvel has ever done... And in his stupid yellow costume...

I said to my friends that it truly didn’t matter when Daredevil came, and while I personally feel this episode was ok (the best of the series and it’s not saying much), it wasn’t gonna redeem the series as a whole. Great review as always!

I don't know what you're talking about as someone who didn't like she hulk I think they handled daredevil perfectly and if some people are mad that he's funny I mean in the final episode he was pretty happy I feel like some people are just overreacting at this point.
I also feel like the ending of ep 6 was good and I enjoyed ep 7 it was actually good I think ep 8 was the best out of all of them though.
I enjoyed the episode. The light humour that they gave dare devil I felt was OK since it is possible that after the events of his own TV show he did begin to lighten up. But I am glad he is only in this one episode. Hopefully they do him justice in his own movie or TV show what ever it is.

It's really messed up that the creators of this show keep screaming about how bad men are but they made Jen exactly how they precive men to be. She is more like a villian then a hero.

MCU is doomed. Word from the set of Blade is really bad & Mahershala Ali is apparently very unhappy & Kevin Fiege is purportedly being "spread too thin." So expect things to get worse. I'm hoping the stay away from Deadpool 3 & let them do what they did for last 2 movies.

She Hulk as a show is hot garbage at best. I agree, seeing Charlie Cox go from the dark gritty portrayal of the Devil of Hell's Kitchen in Netflix to a Saturday morning cartoon hero was weird. But, I did how it sorta felt like he was scolding Jen when he was telling her, "This isn't your thing. You don't do this." But... I have a feeling somehow, some way, the MCU as a whole will bring back She Hulk wrecking the parking garage and the Gala in the future. Who knows, maybe she's the main antagonist of the Thunderbolts? One could only wish.

He was absolutely relegated to a sex object. People have blinders on when they introduce/reintroduce their favorite character. They’re are just happy to have that character, which is fair. They don’t see how the character was done dirty. Ive been there before; once the nostalgia wears off, it’s more disappointing.
Daredevil wasn't ruined, we saw the acrobatics that he is known for in the comics and his flirty character!
Plus this was a comedy show so imagine him in his own show.
I literally never complained about him being a flirt or his acrobatics.

Wow, this might be the first time that you and I have a disagreement on a She Hulk episode. I personally thought that this episode was actually the best one because it wasn't as woke as the first 3 episodes, didn't have a horrible slice of life plot that anyone can figure out in the first 10 minutes (or less) of the episode, and Daredevil still had clever/funny delivery of lines because it was mostly sarcasm to poke fun of She Hulk's arguments in their conversations together. However, I do agree that the episode falls short on the fact that they still portray most of the men as either not too bright (the Leapfrog character) or as sexual predators, the fact that they made Daredevil become less of a classy gentlemen by going straight to a one night stand with She Hulk when they barely met, and the fact that towards the end with the Gala that they basically pulled a "Kim Kardashian's sex tape got leaked" on She Hulk to make her look bad was pretty cringe and juvenile in humor. Overall, I still thought that it was a massive step up from every single episode from this show because Daredevil basically carried in the entertainment value, but at this point, the last two episodes aren't going to redeem the entire show when most of it was complete crap from the beginning 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

Daredevil was never a “classy gentleman”. He cheats on Karen Page with Elektra and sleeps with 2 women at once in his own show. In the comics, he sleeps around just as much as she hulk. He’s more of a playboy than what you described him as.

I was with you for the last 5 episodes. I thought 6 and 7 were so trash. Like honestly the worst in all of marvel. But episode 8 was not bad. I think the chemistry between Daredevil and She Hulk saved it. I agree with you on leapfrog tho. That shit was so stupid.
Truth be told. What I fear finally came to pass. They have finally broken daredevil. they took a Great hero and made him catch up and mustard nothing but a condiment to a stupid show. Marvel treated the kingpin the same way they treated daredevil as a joke. Food for thought 🤔.

I'm seriously considering doing (after the last episode) a break-down video, of how they made this She-Hulk a villain.
Okay, here is how She Nuts can save themselves in episode nine:
The scene opens with Jen suddenly awakening to the sound of an annoying alarm clock. Before she is fully awake, Jen transforms into She Hulk and absentmindedly smashes the alarm clock, the night stand upon which it sat, and the near empty bottle of Jose Cuervo Gold and shot glass next to the clock.
Confused, she sits up and changes back into Jen. She isn't in her apartment, but her surroundings are familiar. Groaning, she slips out of bed and investigates the bedroom and hears a noise coming from the bathroom down the hall. Turning back into She Hulk, she cautiously approaches the bathroom door and flings it open to find someone in the shower. She wrenches open the glass door and confronts whomever is inside.
She Hulk: "YOU! What the hell?"
Bruce (grabbing a towel): "GHAA! Jen! What the hell?"
She Hulk: "Bruce?" (Changes back into Jen again and embarrassingly diverts her eyes as Bruce wraps a towel around himself, suddenly realizing that she is still at Bruce's place from episode one) "Wait, I thought you were off to outer space, leaving earth to save the human race, or something."
Bruce (looking confused and perturbed): "What? Hey, this is She Hulk- Attorney at Law, not an episode of Space Battleship Yamato!" (Chuckles) "See, I told you to hold back on the tequila. You've been asleep for a while. That must have been some dream you had."
End scene. Roll credits...

Daredevil acted like Daredevil from the Netflix series. I don't get the discomfort of "They ruined him" when they didn't.
The stuff he did in She Hulk, he did in his Netflix series. It's the fact that some of of the Netflix fans, only cares about his character when he's at his worst and just started to go ham on the criminals.

Daredevil in She-Hulk couldn't properly explain how his powers work (Jen explained it better than he did, go figure) while in the Daredevil Netflix series, he was able to easily explain in such great detail about what it's like to be blind to Karen (and by extension the audience) in Season 1 Episode 1.

Also, it has occurred mean that this whole ”subverting expectations” thing may 🤔 in part stem from an insecurity/ego-issue, of wanting to come up with ‘my’ original material, instead of being honored to adapt the great work of other talented writers & artists into a new medium.
If you read the *GORR THE GOD BUTCHER* comic by Jason Aaron, you’ll see how entirely neutered they made that previously iconic & unique villain; the same applies there. Instead of actually working to adapt good material, Waititi wrote that mess of junky SNL reject gags.

i liked it. growing up reading comics, not every issue or series hit a home run like the bigger names and "avenger level events". but trust me i think marvel has something big planned where everyone will play an epic important role

Yeah i think they wrote DD a bit shallow but hes often a wild boi in the comics. Almost every run. Every girl in the bar is his side chick so kinda falls in line there not too bad.

Here's what I commented on a video of some people (ain't gonna say no names) who were reacting to the episode.
*Context:* They absolutely LOVED this episode, has claimed to "fall in love" with the main character (aka Jen), and has went on to say this was the episode that they were hoping for throughout the show; saying that Jen's actress has finally delivered with the performance they wanted since the first episode. None of which I have any personal problems with ofc. To each their own, right?
In the review portion of their video, however, 2 of the female reactors were saying that it was "infuriating" and "defamatory" to hear the character they've grown to love get built-up so wonderfully (aka romantically with Matt) in this episode, just to be torn down in such an awful way by being called a "slut" at the end.
Following this, one of the women said (quote):
_"That was literally the most awful thing that they could've said"_
_"I think it's also something that just happens a lot to women. Like, that's always a conversation that people will have about women; just trying to shame them for what they do in the bedroom."_
_"But that's always been the way hasn't it? _*_[In response to the other woman saying that Iron Man has always been a womanizer, and mostly known for his relationships]_*_ Just generally it's been like, 'Oh, it's okay for men to do that, but it's definitely not okay for women to do that.'"_
This is my comment responding to those statements:
_I'm not going to get into the more deeper details of why I believe what I'm about to say, in order to avoid causing too much unwanted chaos and "controversy", but I generally disagree with this statement and the point that y'all are getting across. (Partially)_
_Men are shamed literally all the freakin time by a-hole people who treats them like trash, as if they're less than, much in the way that Jen talks down on MEN in this show._
_And speaking of "A-holes", didn't Jen literally call Matt an "asshole" _*_as soon as she first saw him??_*_ And you guys were laughing at it, right? _*_(They did laugh and thought it was funny)_*_ How is it so awful and "defamatory" when Jen is being called a name, but it's just funny when men are called names in general by man-hating feminists? I don't buy into that "all women are systematically oppressed and never given equal opportunities just because they're women", because when you look into the actual statistical facts, it's bullsh*t--to be frank. I know a lot of people on the left (or who're left-leaning) often prefer to see things like this through a more narrow lens, but my point is that men and women are both different, but are VERY equal, and there are a lot of shh happening out there that greatly hurts & disrespects men just as much as women, and it continues to further divide us, as long as people continue to remain blind to that fact (no pun intended), who happily and strongly believes everything the media tries to force on them._
I realize it's a nitpick, but is noone else bothered about no one questioning a blind man buying a green drink for She-Hulk?
They didn’t ruin daredevil. This is a comedy show so of course Matt’s gonna make jokes and either way daredevil acted the same in the comics so I’m fine with it

It's a situation where it's reasonable for her to lose control. And there's so much legal stuff they could have done based on it. Hacking her phone, filming without consent in California and being a sex act, sexual assault by fraud, if she had confidential work info on her phone. They could have made her investigating Intelligencia the main arc of the season had they done this early on. It would also have alleviated the issue of her not getting any repercussions for her arrogance this entire time.
But I have even money that Titania hears about this and helps Jen out in some way because "women have to support women". Despite trademarked her name and getting invited to a wedding just to suckerpunch her.

Alright I totally called the 0/10 review last time. All that's left is for Snarky to Hulk out for the finally and turn green, I'm more excited about that than the actual last episode lol. The fact that this show inspires so much rage in the fans I'm surprise we all don't go green like it's a planet hulk event.
Hard disagree. Matt came in whooped ass legally, brought down some villains, and then slept with another major character. If that isn’t on brand with what Murdock’s been doing on his own show then I don’t know what is. It also makes sense that he’s seen as more happy especially as where he was left off in season 3 restoring his relationships with Karen and Foggy. I will admit that some of his funny lines were cheesy but he’s like that in the comics sometimes too. I don’t know, the fact you didn’t enjoy any of it and gave it a 0/10 was really appalling.

BEST episode so far for ME and it isnt even just cause of Daredevil. The characters FEEL like ACTUAL PEOPLE. Luke is the ONLY male character or character in general made for this series that is NOT ONE dimensional😭.
Sure he's the flamboyant fashion designer trope...BUT he is also sarcastic, a bit of an a hole, charistmatic and petty...which makes him HILARIOUS and the ONLY character who's made be GENUINELY LAUGH😂👌. See what happens when you have characters who ARE funny to characters who themselves are the JOKES🤦♂️🤷♂️
This series went from a 0/10 to a 7/10 for me in ONE ep. Its crazy what GOOD character writing can do. It only doesnt get a 10 because of the ending. As Jen said...you FEEL how tacked on it is...and i cant say I CARE about what happens to Jen cause of ALL of it was because of her HORRIBLE life choices
Daredevil in this episode is different from his own series but I welcome it, the one liners, the action, the actual professionalism of being an attorney, we love to see it, and considering how she-hulk acts in the comics, yeah, gotta say this episode was accurate, and I get why they only gave us our man Matt in the last episodes, it's because if they did it early, it would've turned into his show, not Jen's
For Anyone who feels that Disney/ MCU is going to RUIN Netflix Daredevil… They Can’t!!! Just like that Awful Godfather 3 did not take away The Greatness of Godfather 1 & 2 , All sequels of Jaws did not ruin the OG… Same for Jurassic Park sequels , & IMO All Star Wars after Empire Strikes Back … What You Love is still there for You to Enjoy

You've never read any Daredevil comics... Daredevil laughs, jokes, he's light, he's not always violent and dark like in the Frank Miller and Bendis comics. The end of this episode makes it clear that Jenny will finally realize how the banner feels and that he was right, and it will make her realize that she should be careful.
