The iPod was released by Apple in 2001, and become the new way people listened to music. The marketing slogan for the iPod was "1000 songs in your pocket" and people were quick to quit CD's.
Thanks for watching!
Correction: the iPod was not the first MP3 music player, though it was the first widespread one in the US. The real first one was the MPMan, built by a Korean company called SaeHan information systems.

Great video! However, the iPod wasn’t the first mp3 player. It was the MPMan! A CD player converts the reflected laser light into electricity, which turns back into a file, and then is decoded into the music. A vinyl record works more akin to what you were describing. Still a good video!
Thanks man I'll update the description, I see a lot of others pointing this out as well
As soon as he said that I lost confidence on this video
iPod was not the first MP3 player it was the first good one
Thanks, I just updated the description for a correction.
there were plenty before that we as good or better. apple just made them trendy.
@@boyeatsworld-vr9ci no because the easy sync with iTunes was a better experience
@customauto7468 that was neither easy or a better experience. We simply dragged files over. Done. We didn't need to make an account or anything. Just plug it in drag your library over and done.
@@boyeatsworld-vr9ci you don't need an Apple ID in iTunes to play mp3s just to buy
The iPod will never die, there are diehard fans keeping them in use. IPod classics are a nerd's paradise. Hundreds of GBs of music in your pocket, plus you can mod the heck out of them. I rock a 4th gen monochrome iPod classic that I rebuilt myself, with 128gb flash storage and a huge battery nearly 4x original capacity. Can go multiple days between charges. This model is 20 years old, and is an absolute brick. Best part is my phone is never part of the equation!
That's awesome
Worlds First MP3 player was the MPMan F10:
In 1997, the world's first MP3 player, the MPMan F10, was developed by a South Korean company SaeHan Information Systems.
Thank you, I just updated the description for the correction.
But every phone got an iPod incorporated? All my music I bought over the years (not only from iTunes but any source, computer, CDs, even cassettes) are on the phone. No internet or data access needed.About 18000 titles right now. I do not subscribe to any streaming service. Why? The phone got more storage any iPod ever had and you do not need 2 devices charged (with different chargers)
Nice video, just remember, a microphone only works if you actually speak into it. Right into it. 😇
Thanks, you might already know this but when Steve Jobs first unveiled the iphone he said the new device was an ipod, an internet comms device, and a phone.
Thanks! I mostly made this video to talk about streaming vs owning songs, but the iPod was a big part of it, hence the title
@@jamesadams4but you can own songs on your phone💀
Really enjoyed this video, I think now I might consider getting a 3rd gen iPod classic, keep going man!
Thanks bro, enjoy your ipod
Before the ipod there were 100s of mp3 players. Before mp3 players there was the mini disc. Mini discs were pretty cool.
Yeah, I updated the desc already
Dang I loved my mini disk player.
@@jamesadams4 you can just download songs from CZcams and put it on your phone💀
Your tech history and explanation leave a little to be desired but aside from that great take and great video. I used to have a Nano in that exact color. Think I still have it, going to go look for it now. (then figure out how to get my spotify playlist onto it 🙈
Thanks good luck
Im thinking about buying a new iPod so i can put all of my favorite music on there. Because i like how you can use physical music as a one time purchase and forever play that specific song forever untill the ipod breaks.
Yeah, the physical system is really nice
Where can i buy i pod
Pawn shops, ebay, facebook mp
Amazon and eBay are two places you can buy used ones, it's pretty much impossible to find a brand new one these days.
@@jamesadams4 thanks bruh❣️
5:14 downloading music from streaming services:🗿🗿🗿🗿
This is my parents iPod, all the files got corrupted when they transferred the files through a Windows computer a long time ago.
@@jamesadams4 you don't need a iPod you could just download music onto your phone and own it💀
Plus mp3 players can be free, you can use a free mp3 converter to add videos from CZcams. It’s kind of a pain to do but definitely worth it.
Yeah true but it's also kinda wrong
I had me my fair share of iPods. My first was a nano 3rd generation. It was awesome. It’s gotten me in the habit of buying CDs and putting them on iTunes and using my phone’s storage for the music I want.
Nice, I love the nano
Nice job James. I learned so much from your presentation. 👍😎
Thanks!
I own an ipod and its still going! from 2007-8! I still use it every day i replaced the battery once or twice but i keep all my music
That's awesome
Loved the video!!👍🤫
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is an awesome video full of great information!
Thanks glad you liked it!
I like using an iPod but it's so tied to iTunes that getting music for it, especially now with iTunes being split in to three programs, using is (in my opinion) not so easy anymore.
Valid
You could just download music from CZcams onto your phone and use a music tagger to get rid of unknown artist💀💀💀
Yeah that's stealing though
Good video man😀 I use my ipod nano everyday and haven’t touched music streaming in a while. iPod forever!🎧
Awesome
Great video! I have a newer generation ipod.....I can't remember which right off hand....I think its a 5th..anyways, it has a touch screen and built in blue tooth so I can pair it with speakers n such. I didn't know they made any that didn't have bt. Ya learn something new every day 😊
Thanks glad you liked it!
Pretty much all iPods didn’t have Bluetooth. The only ones that do are the iPod touches and the Nano Gen 6. None of the clickwheel ones did as they predated the bluetooth technology
You did a great job, explaining the history of music for the masses. Can you still buy iPods?
Thanks! You can still buy iPods but not from Apple, just used ones from eBay and websites like that
I should have kept my old one
@@jamesadams4
I like using my iPod but a problem I have is that I have to download songs from the internet and painstakingly put the mp3 files into my iPod. Still though, I will use my iPod.
Yeah, that was one of the reasons Spotify was able to get popular. Ease of use.
3:08 You could just download from CZcams and get the same effect💀
Yeah that's kinda wrong though
awesome video
Thank you!
lmao. dude for like ten years prior to the ipod, mp3 players existed.
Check the description
The iPod was not the first MP3 player
Ik, I've already updated the desc for the correction.
Good video.
Thanks bro
Hey impasta
It was certainly not the first mp3 player 🤦♀️
Description is already updated
Ik, description is already updated
Not the first MP3 player, or even the first good one. Back then I i listened to MP3s on my Nokia dumb phone, never bothered with iPods.
Ik, the desc is already updated
I still purchase all my music from iTunes. I don’t like streaming for the reasons you mentioned.
iPods need proprietary software, androids can do way more, 80 for a ipod 5 and 120 for a 2020 flagship android, big difference

Yup. Still light years ahead of any competition - in terms of ease of use ability, elegance, simplicity, design, value - whatever category you can think of - Apple HAD a category leading product and they abandoned it. Since Steve left the building, Apple has LOST ITS DIRECTION - IT’S VISION - AND IT’S WAY. Sad to see a giant become so unfocused and lacking in purpose. The iPod is still like a product from the future… A place we cannot return to. Very sad. RIP APPLE.
Fr, tech isn't as fun as it used to be
Did you like the video?
They are not bro
I already updated the desc
Bro used the worst ipod for the thumbnail......
Lol
This kid is kinda just fundamentally wrong about a lot. UNLESS he’s actually very right about how to make a comment bait or joke video.
What facts did I get wrong besides the iPod being the first MP3 player? If you're talking about that, I've already updated the desc
You said the sound box lasted as a form of music storage up until CD's came out. But there were a lot of other music storage forms between those two technologies. Cassettes and vinyl just to name 2.
With each subsequent sentence you say completely false information. From what you said, the HDD platter consists of transistors, which is bullshit. HDD disk platters are made of glass or aluminum covered with a thin layer (several micrometers) of ferromagnetic material, thanks to which it is possible to form stable, properly oriented magnetic domains - they create strings of information recorded on the disk. The same goes for how you explained how the CD works, and the misinformation that the iPod was the first MP3 player. I watched two minutes of your video and I can't watch it anymore because I'm afraid of what nonsense you'll come up with next.
Next time you watch a video watch the whole thing before you comment.
@@jamesadams4 you can own your music on your phone💀💀💀
