    Super interesting look I really want to do this now, you are very good at this.
    I would just comment on your process about using the qualifier for the highlights, since you have the HDR pallete I think you would have achieved a similar step in less steps, not that is wrong in any way, but it would maybe make a cleaner process overall

    Can you help me understand the difference between 1 CST (out: SLOG3 -> REC709) and 2 CST (in:(SLOG3 -> DWG) and out:(DWG -> REC709)?

    • @DannyGan
      @DannyGan  Před rokem +2

      Okay so the difference in what you mentioned is 1, you're working in SLOG3 colour space. 2, your working in DWG.
      And why would you want to make 2 CSTs to work in DWG?
      Because DWG is a very wideee (get it?) color gamut to cover all camera log. So the reaction of any adjustment you make in a DWG would be same no matter what camera log it was shot in. In short, you get to use your same node tree template on ALL of your projects.
      Side note, I usually don't do 2 CSTs, I just switch my Timeline Colour Space to DWG. There's a page in the Resolve manual that states the Timeline Colour Space happens before the input of the node tree. So I'm already working in DWG from the get-go.
      Hope this helps, I'm gonna do a video on DWG but I'm expecting some kickback from the "pros"

    • @HitNguyen
      @HitNguyen Před rokem

      @@DannyGan Thanks for replying. I appreciate you very much.
      So, in my case, timeline color space: DWG
      Case 1:
      - Node1: change contrast (+200)
      - Node2: CST out: SLOG3 -> REC709
      vs
      - Node1: change contrast (+200)
      - Node2: CST in: SLOG3 -> DWG
      - Node3: CST out: DWG -> REC709
      Same color image results.
      Case 2:
      - Node1: change contrast (+200)
      - Node2: CST out: SLOG3 -> REC709
      vs
      - Node1: CST in: SLOG3 -> DWG
      - Node2: change contrast (+200)
      - Node3: CST out: DWG -> REC709
      Color image results vary.
      So I don't understand why the difference occurs. Hope you can help me understand, or I hope you can have a video of this case experience.
      Sorry my English is not very good, maybe I didn't convey my question properly.
      Thank you very much.

    Hello. May you make video about color management ? Why rec 709 A on mac? What if I have no mac?
    For what another color spaces? Difference between them ? What happen if I choose different/wrong? Or how to understand which one I need at this or that moment?
    I think it will be great video!

      @@DannyGan by the way there are too much options also in CST.
      Sometimes you do "look" somehere between sometimes at the end.
      I think also it will be cool why you do this or that way corrections. But may be Iam noob and everybody understand it exact me 🤭🤭 anyway good luck ! Love all your videos!

    Thank you for making this! My question is currently Output color Space is Rec.709-A but you CST is Rec 709/Gamma 2.4. Would it be better to keep those the same Changing Output color space to Gamma 2.4?

    Thanks for sharing the color grading video. I'm new in Davinci, may I know whther the color grading MUST be done in video shooting in LUT? If not, how can it be done on video phone with mobile phone?

    • @DannyGan
      @DannyGan  Před rokem +1

      I think you meant LOG, but no, you don't have to shoot LOG to grade this look. If you're shooting with a phone, chances are it's in a REC.709 color space already, so you can skip the Color Space Transform (CST) step. But you will have less craetive room to push your grade if you're working in a REC.709 color space.
