    With the ecu unlocked the CBR will be a maniac unleashed, I recon.

    • @sleeper.simulant7327
      @sleeper.simulant7327 Před rokem

      The CBR makes similar peak power but needs to be kept on the boil to be real fast as the power band is R6-like in nature, almost 2 stroke like, goes from nothing to insanity... 214 hp is nothing to sneeze at for sure, and the weight difference between the 2 is a few lbs… I know top end high speed drag races the CBR is a bit faster, and on the track it’s also quite a bit faster… that probably has more to do with gearing though, that’s both bikes being unlocked…

    • @jake88ci
      @jake88ci Před 10 měsíci +1

      For some reason unlocking the ecu screws the ecu up? =lose traction control, wheelie control abs . Source Brent tune video on you tube .Has a massive over heating problem , ecu burning up Hondas big mistake

    • @Nick-Edwards
      @Nick-Edwards Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@jake88ciI believe that issue has been resolved now. It was a really hard ecu to crack. The fireblade is definitely faster but it’s so hard to beat that Moto gp aprilia sound. Since I ride more on highway and interstate roads, the fireblade would probably be more suited for me as I could open it up.

The quality is evident everywhere you look on it.Though, I'm an RSV fan and that bike is simply awesome. The soundtrack from the RSV is there right from tickover. And it's got more go lower down. My other bike is an '89 CBR 600 and it sounds like Honda power delivery hasn't changed in decades, lol! It's a total Jeckle and Hyde around 6000RPM... You hit the nail on the head when you said about the blades flatness in low revs being great in town to keep speed down. I’m pretty sure that Honda thought about this and noticed it themselves (who develops a bike as well as Honda?!! ) If are out on the fast roads going for it , you keep it in the revs!!! Simple. I would see it as a bonus.

    Really like the double act, two mates talking bikes - slightly different views which builds a better picture of the bikes. For me though as the handling on the top bikes is way better than you can use on the road, it comes down to power usability, sound, some comfort and then looks - in that order, the Aprilia with it's midrange and perfect sound would get my money.
    To put this into perspective though, in the latter half of 2006 we were selling the fabulous GSXR1000K6 for 6k on the road !!!!!!!

    I remember not that long ago Kawasaki getting a hard time on most tests for the 10R needing revs and having long gearing. Looks like Honda have pulled the same trick but most people don't seem to be giving it the hard time for some reason. Good to see you guys kept it honest.
    I get why they do it - if you want a track gearbox you want a long first and very close ratio's after that then they just up the final with sprockets to make it a road bike. I find it really irritating on a road though. Just as you come out of a corner at a lowish speed and want it to just grunt it won't and you sit there with grip to spare waiting for it to wake up. Then by the time it does wake up you're back in a corner and so it goes on.
    Fun road bikes don't benefit from that kind of gearing optimisation so Honda saying its a track bike is either fair enough or a cop out depending on how you see it.
    Personally I hated it when 600's turned into rev boxes but thats worse on a thou.

    Good review. Nice to see something different from the usual magazines 44t etc. Not that they’re bad but great to see a ‘normal’ review too. Bikes are all gone expensive though so value is relative. I suppose you can start comparing by how much they cost on pcp coz that’s what’s driven the price up and that’s how most bikes will be bought now so people don’t really care about the final price. Cars went the same way didn’t they

    I think the question is wether you can live with the characteristics of the Blade. It sounds like too much of a compromise for a road bike. Great review,but,how much of the electronics working smoother down low had something to do with the lack of power being applied,personally I want a bike on the street to accelerate down low for safety reasons,help keep getting driven over from behind.I test road theRSV4 again kept it for 6 hours,I’m down 30lbs from first test ride but feel like I need another 30-40lbs to be all day comfortable on it.That would bring me to 260-270lbs which is really lean for my body mass at 6’6” but at $18,499 in the states for that bike is hard to pass up.🏍💯👍🍻.

    Probably one of the best 30 minutes spend on CZcams looking for something to fill the motorcycle craving hole when one can't go for a ride!! Super confident as usual for me it would be RSV4 but on looks alone I have to give it to the Fireblade especially in this paint job!!
    I'm sad that you sold your GSXR1000R cause I would love to see all the "big buck" bikes being compared to an average Jo affordable pride and joy with some add ons!! And Your GSXR1000R was a perfect example what one should spend the save money over the newest and greatest (but very expensive) new line of Superbikes! Cause I recon one can pick a brand new GSXR1000R and with the money saived you go exhaust ecu remapping rear shock and carbon wheels and still you would have some money left!

      @@LambChopRides I know that you did a very extensive coverage of the GSXR1000R but apparently the 2020 model has some some front brake upgrades so you can squeeze a qick ride review of the affordable 1000cc sport bike? A qick rundown of the cheepest opinion of the 1000cc squad? Basick ZX10R R1 Fireblade and GSXR1000/R pretty please cause it is lovely to see all the new bikes but well lets face it especially this days not many people can put donw over 20 large for a new Toy plus once you do U are to scared to use it propaly! And if you go PCP route well 3-4K miles per year it's just not worth having a bike.

  • @barbieandbellaadventuresby9134

    Wow, Chopsy goes Fireblade 😎finally! Good choice sir, it does look and sound quality. I do wonder how the professional race teams get them off the line quickly at the start of a race due to their lack of low down grunt? The RSV4 left the blade for dead on your roll on tests.
    Flat, flat flat 😉. Oh! And I still want a LCR tee shirt with that on by the way😁

      To launch quickly you would need to rev the bike to 8k then feather the clutch out. That way you avoid the flat spot 😁

    With all the might of HRC, why did they not make the blade a V4? It’s not like they haven’t done it before. It still sounds amazing. Funny to think that a straight four at full chat should sound nostalgic.

    • @monkmoto1887
      @monkmoto1887 Před 3 lety +2

      They wouldn't call it a fireblade itd be a vfr. The defining characteristic of the fireblade is the engine type. VTR1000 was v twin r . Vfr is v four r. Cbr is a cb (typically a parallel motor) r. Old vt500 came in c and f. V twin 500 cruiser. V twin 500 faired. V twin 500 ascot. Honda is really easy to understand their naming system its like bmw but they actually stick to their own rules.

      A V4 1000cc wouldn't be a Blade - there have been so many rumours and false dawns about a possible RVF 1000 but alas they are still a distant dream.

    The Blade is over the top on pricing and for performance Honda always seem to leave something on the table but Honda has always been soft on performance across the brand JMO , I guess it’s called warranty protection

    Visually the Blade looks better IMO, the RSV paint job doesn't do it justice. Having had a Blade in the 90s I'd probably choose that over the Aprilla because you can ride it sensibly and of course the reliability reputation of the Honda when you're spending that much money has to figure in there somewhere? Nice one chopsey I enjoyed that even though in reality I'll never have either 👍
