  • I've been wanting a new die cutting machine for a while, just to have a few features that my Kaisercraft sadly didn't come with. After lots of investigating, and lots of questions, I decided on this one. Happy to take any questions you have along the way!

    I have the same machine and I can’t ever close it. In the 3 yrs I’ve had it maybe I’ve been able to close it twice. Loved this video. Thank you

      Mine doesn’t close either. Also is very difficult to crank & feels flimsy. Have been considering getting the original big shot to replace it

    After watching dozens of videos and still not getting the answers I needed (comparison of old cutting plates sizes with the new ones), I can now make an informed decision.

    I love my bigshot but here's a tip. Buy a precision base plate which you use instead of your bottom cutting plate and lasts for years. That gives you twice the value from every pack of cutting plates.By the way i bought mine at spotlight.

    I have one of these, but I've never been happy with it. It's cuts ok, but I have to use a hammer to release one of the drop down doors so I can close it again. The other side is easy to pull out and close though. So I'm getting the new Stampin Up Die Cut and Emboss - from all the reviews I've seen it's very smooth and opens and closes really easily and it comes with all the plates you need. That was the other thing I didn't like much about the Sizzix, you have to keep buying additional plates to be able to use different Embossing folders and dies. Good luck with your Foldaway though, as least you don't have to keep a hammer close the way I do.

      Hi Terry. I'm so sad that that happened to you. Did you let Sizzix or where you bought it from? They may be able to help. I haven't looked up the Stampin Up one.. I'll have to do that!

      @@PlumMashable I did get on to Sizzix and they basically said "it will get easier over time"....which it hasn't. The place I bought it from said to send it back and they'd look at it, but it was going to cost $35 in shipping and they weren't prepared to pay for it, so I just put up with it. Now I've got the Stampin Up Machine and it's an absolute dream. No snap crackle and pop when you cut a die, no shims or whatever to get a good cut....cuts even the most intricate dies perfectly first time. It's a real game changer for me. Now I've got a cupboard full of die cutters I'm not ever going to use again 🤣. Except the WRMK Evolution - love that one for all sorts of things.

    When you use the Bigz dies, the sandwich is cutting plate, die, cutting plate. I love the Sizzix machines and dies, I have been using them for about 20 years.

    Is there a “wafer thin die adapter” for die compatibility for the bigshot foldaway? Do you know? I went to sizzix website and posed the question as they suggested the item for that purpose but could not find it under that description, only the “thin die adapter” ... ps: what are they anyway? I’m new to cardmaking and am looking to purchase a die cutting machine and researching....I wanted a machine where dies are compatible for the most part from different mfg co. I found some but they say they are compatible with “most” most machines...my head is spinning.... Help!

    • @PlumMashable
      @PlumMashable  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Holiday Time. Sorry for the delay here. It's basically just an extra piece of plastic that helps to make the cutting sandwich a bit thicker for those thin dies. If you grabbed this one, you'll be able to cut with most dies straight out of the box. I didn't need to buy anything else. I hope that helps x

      I believe the ones that came out of the UK came with the extra items. But their was extra to pay in the shipping rate. I paid $112.00 Christmas 2019, without the extra items.
