if your pruning and you don't want the nubs to grow...use wax...unscented if using common wax...however they make a clear brown or green specifically for plants.

Hello, advice from my experience in tropical countries and in Europe, put your dracaena in a self watering pot and don't be afraid to water it from April to October, this plant will drink All water you give it. Easy to check water level will be empty every week. This plant like ficus plants or philodendrons could almost live in water plus fertilizer. When getting older you may notice that some roots disappeared, it's very frequent in nature that old roots get rotten, dries and become empty, nothing to worry about, new roots will come out.

Try one of those trash can dollies. The flat surface with four rollers it has brakes. You'll never have to lift it or repot it just take the brakes up and move it

I think keeping it in a darker environment would help. They tend to start leaning in the direction of the light and if you don't correct the behaviour they'll get long and grow like this ~

Hi Caroline - You can cut off the tops (or tops) & you should eventually see a sprout or 2 appearing. It may not be until spring or summer so be patient. Give the plant as much light as possible. Back off on the watering, especially in the cooler, darker months. Nell
Leave it on the window somewhere where it gets a good, but not a direct light. You could also see if it needs repoting. It likes soil with good drainage. Keep it damp, but not drenched. On every 2 waterings leave the pot to dry 2 inches down and then water again. Id suggest ou to create a green callendar for all your plans . I also live in UK! My plant is now 4 separate ones :)
I know this is a bit late, but if you over-water in cold climates you can put a small heating pad under the pot (either temporarily or permanently) to help dry out the soil. If you're prone to over-watering, you should mix to a high-drainage soil mixture. A good amount of sand and perlite added to regular potting soil can help make sure water doesn't pool around the roots. Lining the pot with something sphagnum moss will ensure that the roots have access to water if the soil drains too much.
I got 2 of them but we had a really bad frost this week here in the UK and the leaves changed colour and look like are dying. is there anyway to save them? thanks

Only thing is I wish I would have know how fast it would grow along with the sweet potato vine. However, I still love it! Hello. I was given a plant/tree similar to this, but the stalks/branches are real long(tall). But recently I have been noticing that at the trunks the spike leaves are drooping, wilting looking, turning brownish at the ends just before the spikes. It was doing great out doors all summer long. Just before temperatures got too low (in Illinois) I brought it back in, did my once every 5 to 8 day watering, was still doing fine. But just in the passed week I noticed it looking like what I described above. What could be the cause? Please help, I love this plant. Thank you for your time.
i have some that are just single trunks but are getting too tall/ heavy and bending over... is it ok to trim them down past where the leaves are growing?
As long as the roots are healthy, you can cut the head right off. The trunk will bud at least one or two new heads. It can take quite a while to happen though. The healthier the plant is and the better it has access to nutrients, the more new growth it will produce and faster (season plays a part in it too). Also you can propagate the cut head to make a new plant if you wish. I have done it myself. Started with one plant, now i got four. lol

you have to keep the soil moist but not wet...and trim most of the foilage so the plant concentrates on root growth.
