• F&W's Justin Chapple reveals a foolproof way to line a round cake pan perfectly-every single time.
Instead of relying on the guesswork of cutting the parchment paper based on the size of the pan, this Mad Genius Tip is clever. Fold the paper in half then make another fold to create a rectangle. Then fold the paper into a triangle and then another triangle, until it's shaped like a necktie. Align the triangle where it begins in the center, and cut off the edges. Viola! The perfect size of parchment paper for your baking needs.

OMG, I just spent about 10 minutes trying to get my cake pans lined, I THOUGHT the paper had to go up the sides too and I just couldn’t get it to lay flat! In all of my years baking, I’ve never used parchment paper for cakes only to line cookie sheet pans. Finally googled how to line a round cake pan & found this video. I cut MORE paper, folded it like the directions said & it worked!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

Lol I’m with you! I usually make 9x13 rectangle cakes & I’ve only every sprayed my pans but I just got a new layer cake recipe & it specifically says to line the pans & I was like wait do I cut a circle for the bottom then a strip to make a ring to do the sides? So I decided to google before I started playing arts & crafts with my parchment 😆

honestly, I traced around the bottom of the cake pan, NOT the top. Cut it out with scissors and it was the perfect size.

As others have mentioned, this video misses the one crucial step. Which way to make the diagonal folds ("like a paper aeroplane"). Do I use the fully closed corner, the corner with all 4 leaves separate or one of the 1/2 closed corners as the point? I realize that the term fully closed and half closed aren't quite explicit enough. By fully closed, I mean the corner that was originally in the center of the piece of parchment. The 4 leaves separate is the corner where the original four corners meet. The 1/2 closed are the other 2 corners.

The video is cut horribly. It should've had the focus on the paper and he shouldn't have lifted it from the board. Your problem is due to these choices, you are folding it the wrong way

• @attomicchicken
@attomicchicken Před 5 lety +11

So after folding the paper in half twice, you should have one folded edge on the left and the other on the the top
===========

The you take the bottom left corner and fold it into a triangle the again on itself before cutting it to size.
So you marry up the creased edges of the parchment
