Over the last few months, we’ve been restoring this £5000 Porsche 911 to its former glory. We pulled it out of a scrapyard where it had been left because of some nasty vandalism, got it running for cheap, made it road-legal again, modified it, and then took it on a 1000-mile journey across Europe. Today, we’re in full preparation mode to take this car up against AutoAlex’s V6 MX-5 on track, but first up, we need to find out how much power this little old 911 is making.

Seatbelt segment was a load of bull. If you don't know, just don't say anything.
Car Vertical is shit
OMG youtubers that actually did a dyno before mods and checked the weight before changes. Unheard of! Stuff of legends.
They also did a splendid and very appreciated total breakdown of what would have really been the end cost of their project, including actual pricing of the freebies that youtubers usually get, which is literally unseen so far. This channel will be going places!
you're watching the wrong channels mate, that's pretty much standard

Really liked the total cost breakdown! Really we need more of that. The freebies are okay but I always like to know how much stuff would run me as a normal guy.
Keep doing what you're doing please :)
it's the literal youtube standard for cost breakdowns.
@@StanleyKubick1I’ve never seen this on any other channel
@@Juanguar Yeah, same. It's new to me and I watch a lot of youtube.
@@Juanguar Mat Armstrong does cost breakdowns on his builds
@@tomcanningmusic4923 Well yeah, but Mat's entire channel is based on how cheap he can fix exotic cars..
The cost breakdown at the end was EVERYTHING. More channels need to do stuff like that, puts building a car into perspective for those who haven’t done it before. Also Edwin, nice arse crack
looking at the heavier soot on the passenger side, you may have some early bore scoring on the driver side cylinders. Pull the spark plugs and oil pan, then use a borescope to check the cylinder walls, ESPECIALLY #4 and #6. If there's scoring, take it to Hartech and they'll make it better.
This comment needs to be higher..
Less common on the 3.4
@@MrCaterhamr500 less common doesn't mean never happens. Ferrostan piston coatings wear at a lower rate than the grafal on '02+, but still wear (especially if poorly maintained). That soot on the left side is an early indicator of bore scoring and no one is hurt by checking the cylinders.
@@jobytapia6388 I can’t remember typing ‘never happens’ !?
@@jobytapia6388I like how he said "less common" and then you somehow disagreed by just explaining what less common means
you're wanting to beat Phil? Just wait for the rust to do the job

Emotional damage bro
Rust is lighter than carbon mate, Phil is getting faster by the day
It'll be nice when they move on and stop involving the least interesting car on CZcams.
Lads, you might have air in the cooling system, next to the blue cap on the coolant tank, should be another back looking cap, with a lever on it, when cold, remove the blue cap, and lift and lock up the lever on the black cap, should hear some air gurgle away. Its the bleeder valve on the expansion tank. Hope this helps and might help with the over heating issue
You'd hope between all the guys at the performance shop who looked at it, one would know to look around for a bleeder as they're quite common on cars over the last 30yrs
Loving this series, please let TDC be the proper car-build nerd side of the Auto Alex Universe..
Yes please 🙏🙏 I want to see actual work done, not leaving the cars to some pro restoration shop and returning in mint condition. I wanna see the real struggle of working on used cars.
Bearing in mind that quite a few of those parts and mods were preferential, and not mandatory to pass an MOT, you totally have got this "back on the road" for double it's price. Winner.
If these were an hour long, I'd have no complaints. Easy watch.
You lads are doing the right thing sticking with a project and seeing it through. Please don't start buying projects and not finishing them. We don't need another car buying channel like Alex.

12:46 such an underrated joke
Rich is one of those secretly world class pro's that doesn't look it at first and just wings everything, and it end up being perfect.
The best bit about that new exhaust is that it makes a lot more 'flat-six' noises and I think it might even sound better than it did without the muffler. Too many after-market exhausts are just generic loudness and noise, so for Rich to wing it and make something that makes it genuinely sound better is a great advert for his skill.
I mean, Rich is a legend. Everything in his workshop looks beaten to death, but you can't say his work isn't top notch.

Boys, been following this since Ep1!! The fact that you brought this car back on to the road, and made it road legal, is mental. Lowkey inspirational.

What a pleasure to fit your windscreen ❤
12:20 the most factual statement ever
Oh thank god, I've been sat refreshing my subscriptions page
Lolz, me too!
OK, controversial but, I think the 911 is TOO low, I think she would look better maybe 10-15mm higher ? and she'd probably handle better with the use she is getting . Loving the channel chaps, keep it up :)
Higher but with spacers or different wheels to fill the arches. They sit inside too much at the moment I think.
Hey dudes, with the roof, try getting some really fine wet and dry paper and sanding a very fine layer of lacquer off, then use an orbital buffer to cut and polish it to look like new :) I did this with my bonnet and looks amazing now. Think I used 2000grit, then 3000, then 4000 to finish, then used maguers cutting compound to buff it. (Sorry for some of the spellings, car products were never named for the simple man)
Thanks for the cost brake down lads. Always good for us 'normals' to see the true price of something without the youtube discount. Could prevent people from getting into serious debt because they think it is achievable to own a Porsche for a dime.
Would also like to see an and of year (if it makes it that far) total costs. So including taxes, petrol (and miles driven) and least of all insurance.
that ghetto electric window fix is relatable as hell. Love it, please don't cut that kind of thing out, it makes us comoners feel better about our sometimes shabby repairs
19:21 "why are we weighing this car on a George Foreman grill" 😂😂
@02:35 the colour of that ST! With the seats! ❤
I actually cranked up the resolution to 1440p and took a screenshot of that before running to my girlfriend and also showing it to her. What a magnificent colour!
I love a lot of things about this channel. Before weight and HP numbers, real cost breakdown and, things actually get finished rather then forgotten. Stop doing such things, or this will become my favourite CZcams channel.
Loving the new content, this feels like new Top Gear, but with the old format.
No it doesn't

The exhaust lad is a character😂😂
You’ve just went to the top of my favourite CZcams channels! A channel which actually shows the value of everything, including freebies. No Pratt Armstrong BS
You guys have become my favorite channel on CZcams in record time. Thanks lads!
That new exhaust sounds waaaay better than the original. Nice to see you include the cost of parts that sponsors or friends covered. Feels a bit of a con when channels say we fixed XYZ for £500 then they put £2k worth of sponsors parts that they got for free on it.
That fabricator guy is ‘friendly’ , uphill battle trying to get conversation out of him 😂
I think this is my favourite channel now. You two lads are brilliant and have a perfect balance of funny and informative. Big up TDC

Loving this series chaps! That exhaust sounds amazing too :)
£400 for a wheel alignment!? That’s a crazy price. Loving this project though!
IIRC they had some issues with the alignment and it took way longer than it should, maybe that's why it's 400.
I got a wheel alignment for my Corsa and they said it's gonna cost 79€. They had some serious trouble with the tie rod among other things and took twice as long as planned. They still only charged me 79€.
That shop gained a customer for life in me.
@@schwuziI had this with my old mx5, everything was seized & took him 3 hrs but he only charged me £75. Went out of business a few months later 🤷🏻

There's a way to get rid of dust and dirt in a car, in all the places that a vacuum can't get to. Use a leaf blower. Just make sure all the doors are open, or the debris will settle inside again of course.
Yay - good, structured progress.
Double yay - transparency in prices and costs.
Rocking it real good gents.
