This guy knows how to have a good time
gotta have a bit of money to do all that.
@@chriszeng1488 nah just be cool like him
The Quality of Cutting/Filmmaking and Storytelling is Unreal for just 4000 subscribers. Keep it Up !
totally agree. great video.
For the last 13 years I have driven my 911 4S (daily driver) a few times a year to Northern Canada. Conditions can get very challenging (-40C, with whiteouts and lots of snow and ice on the roads). With proper tires (don't use the often suggested Pirellis ...), the stock car is capable of getting us there year after year, even in the worst of storms. What a great car ... giving us unforgettable experiences week after week, year after year, and hopefully decade after decade. :)
Which tires do you recommend?
@@siegfriedbarfuss9379 Nokian were the best ones I had, especially the studded ones. The next best is Michelins. Of course ... this is my perspective ... but I purchased after carefully reviewing various tests and reports. Today I have Michelins because the workplace parking no longer allows studded tires and my other Nokians are no longer produced in the sizes fitting my winter 911. I tried many other tires and I am quite happy with my current setup considering the restrictions.
would love to know what tires u recommend!!
@@siegfriedbarfuss9379 Excuse the delay, it was unintentional.
Long story short, here are the tires I prefer in order of preference:
1- Nokian studded winter tires: simply the best
2- Nokian Hakkapeliitta (non-studded) winter tires: very good on ice and snow, fair in slush and not so good in water
3- Michelin Alpin winter tires: good in snow, slush, water and ok on ice
@@areeha5783 I just responded to the previous/same question above, have a look.
Nice seeing a 911 stuck in the snow and being used properly! Good work, Alex.
a toyota could do it better
What does "being used properly" mean? Technically a 911 used properly would be a track or some dry mountain roads lmao, but this is cool though.
@@antonyantony319buddy thinks it’s a Dakar I guess lol
A Corolla would have done that better.
@@Secretlyanothername Corolla is not a sportscar. Even GRFour isnt exactly one. GR86 is a sportscar. Having said that, anything else than SUV is all people need. Wagon Corolla with awd from GRFour would be everything 90% of people in US need, but they ruined the market by buying SUVs and Pickups, on top of idiotic law that punishes cars and enabled SUVs and Pickups with stupid loopholes, when it should be other way around.
This guy is so well-spoken and this is so well-made! Sounds like the intensity of a former military guy who tapped into drugs after he served 😂
Love it, as a Colorado native there is nothing better than a 911 with skis mounted on the rack and winding mountain roads…on a practical note I also love my land Cruiser….great content!
those black wheels totally transformed the look of that silver 996. looks awesome
I bought a 2004 C4S for all the same reasons. I drive it only in the winter and it's great!
I really enjoyed this video Alex! (I have the exact same car - interior and exterior.) You provided a VERY honest review of the car in snow, especially with the discussion of the primitive viscous AWD system and not being afraid of showing it getting stuck in deep/slippery snow. More 996 and cross-country touring videos please!
These cars are engineered in Germany through some of the most toughest winter conditions, this video is amazing for showing just that and not just another track day. This car was built for this very thing, to be driven daily.
Exactly. German engineers go above and beyond to test their cars in extreme conditions.
stuttgart is very hilly and black forest 30 min drive with snow mountains in winter therefore Porsche engineers and Mercedes have it omnipresent on their minds and use their prototypes over the weekend to test on site ..
@@p00pienot if the car is a BMW lol plastic garbage
I drove a hardtop Boxster through one Midwest Winter. When I sold it and bought my 964 C4, the seller had snow tires on the 964, and didn't hesitate to use it in the winter. Drove the 964 through one blizzard and it wasn't phased.
As a previous owner of a C4S for many years I have to say it’s a great car. I don’t even mind the funny headlights. The 4 wheel drive adds some safety and the wide body shape is beautiful. Certainly a future classic.
Simply awesome. Two heroes : you and the 996 4CS 👍
As always, looks like a blast and - you make the production look so easy! Keep serving us content 🤘
LOVE THIS! Great stuff, Alex!
this brings a huge smile to my face. Looking forward to one day owning a 911 C4S and recreating an adventure like this. great video.
this video screams quality - one of the best that i ever watched
Sweet video Glen! I Worked for Porsche for 20yrs and I always have a soft spot for 996C4S.
Love that 3/4 rear end view still cool AF.
You have a real passion in your voice when you talk about Porsches 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This is epic well done guys!
Fantastic video, and what's better, that is a high mileage 996 being driven very hard, in very hard conditions. The countless hours of engineering and testing is very evident in Porsche's engineering .... Brilliant!!!!
Ugh now I want one!
Really well made video! Enjoyed every second!
This is way better than the videos that come from all the CZcamsrs in KS. Great job!
Thanks for the nostalgic look back. I've had 2 996 C4's , one used as a year round daily driver up here in snowy NH. With winter tires, nothing more fun than turning TSC off and doin four wheel "burnouts!"
Alex is always entertaining! Good luck with the channel!
Ok this is an amazing video. Perfect mix of car content and almost a travel type vlog. Just subscribed!
Love it! Another killer adventure
"...being in here, it's like being inside a Kangaroo's pouch"🤣
Such an incredible build for such incredible conditions to drive this car in. What an absolute pleasure to witness this Porsche drive in such difficult but gorgeous conditions.
Excellent video…cinematography is superb! You’re doing what any car guy would love to do! Keep up the awesome work!
So cool! I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Need more with the 996!
Thankful your channel popped up in my feed. Cool content 👏
This video made me smile the whole way through!
where has this guys channel been all my life!!!?
This is rad. Best snow car I ever had was a Civic EK Hatch with adjustable coil overs (that I'd lift in the winter 😆) and some 15" steelies. Small front or AWD cars with a manual (and a bit of skill) will pull ya 95% of where you need to go.
Fantastic episode total respect I love that you enjoy driving your 911🤩👍
Love the channel. Love these challenge videos would love to see more 👍
drove a slammed mk6 gti year round, going to the mountains and telluride all the time. car works great passing all the suv’s. this porsche is such a fun way to experience those roads and actually have fun.
Epic video. Im considering buying a 996 to be my year round daily and I'm glad to see someone having fun with their 996 in the snow
Beautiful story... Thank you!
Well done Alex and Jeremy 👏
I never comment on CZcams videos but i just had on this one. Amazing production value guys! Great job in the storyteling. All in all, a great video!
wow this channel needs more recognition
This was dope. Looking forward to more!
Traveling by 911 is just a dream. Great video! My respects 💪🏼
All four elements 🌎🌬️🌊🔥 in the c4 911😊
Keep up the great videos!
Looked fun and I love the inclusion of the importance of chocolate as an element
Excellent, fantastic video. You absolutely did the right thing with this beautiful car. I envy you and your road trip👍 cheers from Mallorca
Fantastic! Love the car and the filmmaking (and miss Colorado)!
Hey! I recognize that hangar… holds all the cars I just about being myself to buy!! Excellent vid. New sub.
Awesome video!
Epic trip and great job editing. I feel like a lot of youtubers would have turned this into a minimum 45 minute video and would have lost a lot of engagement because of it. Subscribed
The every day sportscar (also in snow).
Great video 😀👍
I've spoken with Alex before, stand-up guy and enthusiast. Definitely buy with confidence from Glen Shelly, I missed out on an E46 M3 a few years ago that I still kick myself about. Winter tires are must out there, make all the difference.
Well done. I saw you while you were in Steamboat. Looks like a super fun road trip.
Love this! I drive a 2002 C4S all winter. They are great until you hit a deer on your way into Telluride, then you wish you were in a truck...
Ouch
😳😭
Great stuff, Glen Shelly team!
Loved this video. BRB going to buy a 996 c4s
Great vid! What size tires/wheels/spacers are you running? My C4S has been parked in the winters but this inspired me to get a winter set up for it! Thanks!
Loved watching that. Great Car choice in the C4S and CO is awesome inspiringly beautiful ( used to live in Louisville CO) . Subscribed 🙌
im going to steamboat springs for the first time in 2 weeks and this makes me so hyped for it.
Awesome & it looks badass!!!
awesome shots!
I drove a similar C4S for 11 years on daily basis (not in the snow though) and goch he is right , such a versatile car ❤
I passed through Steamboat in a snowstorm and it was good enough on a stock setup but BARELY lol Cool video. That looks fun. Great job filming 👏🏼
996 wow 😊 thanks I enjoyable to watch
This is awesome! I might try to do this someday. I would bring a -20F bag and some survival grear just in case I got stuck.
Man I wish I was as cool as this guy he’s a beast
not a car guy let alone a sports car guy, but gotta admit this sounds like an enjoyable ride.
Amazing, I love this.
Such amazing content
What an epic story!
Great video. Porsche is just awesome.
Nice. Skywagon in the background is a bonus.
this video is awesome! wow
This is what I’d do if I had a 996, and what I’ll do when I eventually get one. I drove through the worst winter storm in Colorado this year from Denver back to Kansas in my 2000 volvo V70 so I know how treacherous the conditions can be. I’m honestly surprised my car could make it through at all, and I’m sure the 996 would be more fun because it isn’t a heavy FWD station wagon lol
This video is exactly what I've been trying to figure out about the 911 all wheel drive. I'm in Syracuse, NY and want a 4 of some kind to daily drive but people always look at me like I'm bonkers when I tell them I plan to drive it in snow. Great video, great walkthrough on the kit and experience. Couldn't mash subscribe fast enough.
I live in Buffalo and I’m 100% planning on having something similar to this lol. Everyone around here has a TRD Pro 4 Runner or a V6 Bronco….while this is definitely more my speed. Unless you’re going skiing/snowboarding or pulling a trailer, good snow tires on any car is all you will ever need, even in Buffalo/Syracuse.
Colorado in winter and Porsche are two of my favourite things, wait it go to bring them together.
So badass 👍🏾
Awesome video! People can say what they will about the 996 but their owners tend to drive the piss out of them.
Cheers!
Agreed! Proud owner of an original IMS, 2000 996.1 with 125k on it and still runs awesome
this. is. amazing. makes me want to make my turbo a 'safari'
Very cool trip! The one thing that really would have helped is chains for your tyres. That would allow the AWD to be more effective even though there's not much weight over the front wheels. Frankly, I think the car would really benefit from being raised a bit as the extra suspension travel would allow you to carry some more speed over the rough terrain, but chains would be the cheap and easy fix!
So happy like a kid
Excellent video
love the channel!
Bore score totally rules dude🤙🏻
How soon we forget that these cars were manufactured in Germany, where the weather can get… not so good. Great video!
10/10 vid! On the search for a c4s now instead of an xdrive wagon!
what a sick video.
Great follow up video would be long-term wear and tear driving a 996 like this - radiators, coolant lines, rust, etc.
What are the turbo wheels you have on there? The silver ones at the beginning look bigger than 18. Looks great!
Great video Alex. Now you meed to do the same in a C2S. Show the world that a proper 911 with rwd can also handle the snow…
I’m from Bulgaria 👏👏👏👏
Nice trip good , prepared car
the rack is probably completely impractical but I looooove the look of it. So cool
Badass video brother super jazzed
What for beautiful cars 👍And Colorado is very beautiful 🏔️⛰️
i gotta sub after watching this masterpiece video
looks fun.
Porsche 996 is probably one of the most beautiful cars in the world!
