Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This CZcams channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

When you think about it, the more you slice it, the better angle you get from the other fairway to get over the trees. See.... golf is all about perspective. 😂

I wish my course was like that Cole. Beyond the trees on most holes on my course are more trees, or creeks and rivers :(

That was very unexpected and you're right. I love hacksawing PRO V1's I find at the range (i replace them with a real one, just something I do) most of them are fakes.

In the US back in the 1980s, Ping ran a promotion with junior golf lessons and you would get to pick out a new color of the Ping balls at the lesson each week. They were definitely a highlight of the lessons and I've still got quite a few from that collection today. Those were the original Ping Eye which had a more primitive dimple pattern than the Eye 2 . I remember them having that incredibly soft feel, probably an 80 compression or so and even played them in a few junior golf tournaments. Many courses had them printed with their course logo but they disappeared pretty quickly after a few years of popularity. It seemed like there was a significant gap, maybe 5-7 years before the Eye 2 version popped up which was a thrill to see as a kid but they disappeared quickly as well. I do remember the issues with both tracking them in the air and finding them in the rough. The original yellow/orange combo was probably the easiest to spot.

Pretty sure Ping are the last family owned major golf manufacturer. Good on you Solheim's!
Their strength has always been in the manufacture of golf clubs, not golf balls.
Titleist have dominated the ball market, so why should Ping try and corner a market they have little chance of winning.

30 years ago looking for golf balls on Bury Golf club UK. The half coloured balls were the holy grail, found 3 in 5 years of looking.

I used to have 5 dozen of these. Brand new and I lost all 5 dozen during my first few years as a junior golfer between 2009 and 2011. Made a switch to Srixon since them but I really wish PING would remake these balls. I was always in love with the color scheme.

I found a really old Spalding ball on the range, and the contact feels more pure than any other golf ball I have used.
Are you sure it was old? Spalding is making new balls again :)
Would be cool to see on screen stats like a mini map of the current hole, stroke count, and club in hand. Already great filming and post-production skills, as always!
My driving has improved so much thanks to your tutorials, managed 7 holes this evening at my local course and I've never been as consistent. Can't big you up enough Rick.

Rick... They were made for playing Golf in Arizona, due to the glare of the Sun. Made them easy to See

Why don't they still use them, if they are easier to see. I use tour yellow because I think they are easier to see than white.

Awesome Rick! As a young golfer I remember buying the Red/Blue one in the Pro Shop before a round. Didn't lose it on the course, but no clue what happened to it.

Turns out if you find one as an adult you do hit gold

Have one in my golf bag for luck - plum / white, bought it from the pro shop at pebble beach as a kid in the 80's, its stamped with the pebble beach logo too!

I have one of the two tones, I just use it as a putting ball. I love them and been playing with them for years.
I loved the white and sky blue color combination ping Ball.

These Srixon's are my goto's now. Love watching the spin changes and accurate lining up of putts.

Anyone remember the bald eagle ball? One of our members bought a pallet off them years ago at an auction and still uses them to this day.

Nostalgia for me to see this golf ball being reviewed and hit. Years ago in the 90’s I played the Titleist balata ball and enjoyed playing it. My one beef about it was it was easily scuffed and sometimes out of round. I bought the white Ping ball and really liked it for its distance & softness. I think I still have a sleeve of the 2 color ball. I’ll have to look for it now after this video.

I only ever bought one Ping ball and I still have it! Never been hit outside, I've always used it indoors on the putting mat. Very good for checking your stroke. Great vid Rick.
When I clicked this video I was half expecting Ping Pong balls and Rick playing 10 yard flop shots with the Driver! These look good though.
I'm a Dolphins fan and bought 1 of those Ping balls with the aqua and orange colors....never been hit

I'm an older guy, I started playing in 1995. Used to see those around some, I've never seen anyone playing them. I thought they were just for practice putting.

I remember these and wish they would bring them back. I'd be a buyer. On another note my mother-in-law gave me black golf balls years ago and to my surprise they were without a doubt the easiest ball to see in flight out of any ball I've ever hit.
Srixon released their Q-Star tour divide ball, seems to be a pretty good iteration of the idea
