      Don’t worry Aerith is not dead. We all saw cloud save her then it flashed to a different timeline where she is dead. Guaranteed she is alive this time and it will still tie in to advent children. The ending of advent children you see Aerith interacting with kids from clouds timeline if she were dead how do those kids see her. She merely crosses over and tells cloud everything is alright and cloud says he is not alone because she is still alive and shows cloud who thought she might have just been a ghost.

    In Advent Children, Cloud had the ability to see, and speak with Aerith in the lifestream. I think what we're seeing here is the origin of that spiritual connection. When Cloud sees, and speaks with Aerith, what he's really seeing is her spirit, visiting him from the lifestream, but his mind is in such a state from this whole experience, that he doesn't understand what he's seeing, and he mistakingly believes that Aerith is still alive...It's honestly so tragic. Not only did Sephiroth kill someone that Cloud loved dearly, he messed Cloud up so much that the poor man can't even grieve properly, and is living under the delusion that he truly did save her.

    • @DevilHunter1994
      @DevilHunter1994 Před měsícem +3

      @@zacatkinson3926 I really don't think she is. We see her start turning into lifestream particles while Cloud is holding her. Living people do not have lifestream particles coming off of them. At that point, it's highly likely that the Aerith speaking to Cloud is actually her spirit trying to comfort him, not an actual living person. Cloud's perception of reality is just so messed up at this point, that he doesn't realize what's going on.
      Sephiroth merged the two worlds together after Cloud stopped his sword in the other world. This merge is the confluence of worlds that he was talking about. The point of convergence he chose for the merge was the moment of Aeriths death. To me it looks like Sephiroth allowed Cloud to think he could save Aerith, then essentially undid everything Cloud accomplished with a snap of his fingers when he merged the worlds, so that she would still die even without being stabbed. This is why Aerith still falls over, despite never being struck in that other world. She still died. Cloud never had any hope of saving Aerith, and Sephiroth knew this from the start. He tricked Cloud into playing his sick game, a game that was rigged from the start, so that he could completely shatter Cloud's will.
      Even if she were saved in a different world, all worlds outside of the main one are short lived. Saving her in another world would give her maybe a few extra weeks at most. So it wouldn't really make a difference.

    I have a feeling that the white whispers are spirits of the Cetra from the past, and Aerith, through her prayers, urged them to rewrite reality when Cloud stopped Sephiroth's attack so she would make sure she died. I believe that Sephiroth wished to trick Cloud into saving Aerith so she couldn't become one with the Lifestream, and so he would win at the end. But Aerith knows her sacrifice is essential for the planet's survival, and so she corrected the flow of destiny by erasing Cloud's parry of Sephiroth's sword.

      @maguire4428 I personally believe his main goal was simply to have cloud help him in making another timeline by defying destiny. I mean, he even asks cloud to join him. And it was his black whispers that let cloud in to where aerith was. But I believe it specifically had to be cloud that sephiroth got to defy destiny for some reason, considering zack also defies destiny and makes new worlds a few times, yet when confronted by zack, sephiroth basically says "yeah, I don't care about you at all" and after sending zack back to another world, he tells cloud "alone at last"

    One possible and actually well evidenced interpretation of this ending that might point to a living Aerith (albeit in a branch reality, which could and likely may rejoin the main later). Cloud really deflected the masamune and created a new reality (Highly likely if the rainbow burst of color is any indication) but that timeline was swapped with the OG one by the whispers of fate such that she really dies at least in our party's reality. She is dead here from the point of view of the team (not Cloud) where they see Aerith, (blood appearing and disappearing seems to suggest this). And the Aerith that Cloud sees and speaks with from here on through the conclusion is the saved one that is in a parallel world to his. Since he is able to see the crack in the sky (and red 13 sensing her) my guess is he is not just delusional. He can really see the Aerith that he saved as well as the crack in the sky from her branch reality perhaps because of his interaction with Aerith or role in creating that reality branch, or perhaps due to the 'blessing' Sephiroth gives to him in their final scenes. TLDR: Cloud does save aerith and she lives in a branch reality created by that moment from there on while a whisper edit swaps that outcome with one where she perishes and that state is experienced by the rest of the party. Depending on how this links up with advent children by part 3, we could get a very different final ending with a possibility for this saved Aerith to rejoin the main reality alive by the conclusion, but that's all conjecture till Part 3 release.

      This all sounds pretty spot on to me. I think Aerith is technically alive, just not in the main timeline. She's alive in a branch timeline that Cloud created by defying fate. The real question for the final game I think will be if Aerith will get to reunite with them or not. It may be possible, especially with Zack's (he seemed to be crossing between realities near the end there), but one thing that has me worried is the final text at the end of the game.
      In Remake, the final text "the unexpected journey continues", gave us a tease that something unexpected would happen in the next game. And it did. Zack played a major role in the finale, and Cloud deflected Sephiroth's sword. The final text in this game though reads "no promises await at journey's end".
      I imagine there will be plenty of speculation and interpretation over what this means, but my initial thought is that the promise they are referring to is the one Aerith sings about in the game's main theme song. That being for her and Cloud to meet again. If that's the promise the ending text refers to, then it could mean they may never meet again. But who knows, maybe it refers to something else. We'll just have to wait and see.

    This moment was dedicated to all the fans who hold the Aerith death scene as one of the most important moments not just in gaming but in life too, the evidence? When Cloud is fighting Jenova in the first phase he said "You've done it before - can do it again" Clearly he's saying that to himself because he's the only one in the party who is aware of Aerith's plan and what's going on with the worlds (as that is what i understand from the ending). But the most beautiful thing is that he's not only saying that quote to himself but to you, you who played the original all those years ago, you who was destroyed in tears and impact you so much. We all know Aerith's death and this moment in Rebirt is completely aware of that so the whole time on these fights Cloud is on the mindset of not fail her again. YES i also missed the scene when Cloud is holding Aerith's body and let her go and i also missed the speech he gives to Sephiroth (Which is on Rebirth but just muted and flashes out so quickly). But people need to understand that this is not a common remake of a videogame, it's a sequel disguised as a remake that is fully aware of the past events. This entire project is most likely the end of the FF7 Compilation and thus far is doing an amazing job at it in my opinion as a long time fan of FF7 (Peace everyone we don't need to fight ourselves for different opinions if you don't like it that's completely fine) Loved every second of this amazing game made with so much passion and love for FF7

    @jhin_gg Před 2 měsíci +15

    Aerith is saved. In the last moments happens a lot and u'll only realise a lot of stuff if you watch these scenes again and again.
    After Cloud had his conversation with sephiroth about the worlds he lands in the forest. Now it begins to become weird. Everything is white and glowy in the background and aerith says "We meet again." this is nothing someone would say when they fell down somewhere a few moments, hours or whatever ago. So it seems like its not the Rebirth Aerith, or it's not the Rebirth Cloud. After they changed the materia there are A LOT of white whispers and after that we see the portal aka lifestream maybe. In this moment we see a few scenes which are VERY important. All we see now has a green flu, like the scenes where Cloud saw the sleeping aerith in the World where Zack is. In these scenes we're seeing that cloud did pull aerith up and they didnt even fell, in the background we see the temple. And it goes on with cait sith which kneels down right before the group, we see that Cid navigates them somewhere, but they're still outside of the temple. Now it ends, they're suddenly in the forest and tifa checks if cloud is alright but the green flu seems still there. After Cloud is awake Barret put him down on the same place where he did crouch after giving Aerith the white materia. Barret also says something like: "Your eyes were moving like hell. What did you see?" So i guess he saw another timeline. What if sephiroth created this timeline once he destroyed the ground where we saw them falling?
    What if Cloud never gave the Black Materia to Sephiroth in one of both timelines? That would explain why cloud still have it at the end.
    Cloud is not just delulu. He saved Aerith in one timeline. When he moves to her after the boss there are white whispers only he can see. White whispers mean literally Canon. The moment where cloud blocked his sword there was a white glow on the background, which we already saw where Zack had the choice if he wants to save biggs, or if he wanna confront Hojo. So the white glow means another timeline is created. And the glow is still there when Cloud says: " Aerith, wake up." He even sees the crack in the sky, but only he can. So that means that this world will die soon. But in which timeline he is seeing this? I guess he is somehow stuck between them. Aerith literally says him that she will stop the meteor, and cloud seems to know what she means by that. But he shouldn't know what Sephiroths Plan is by now with the meteor.
    Zack at the end is important too. Worlds can be reunited and we see that the flowers are blooming and are healthy which means that Aerith is alive. But in which timeline?
    Ppl who are saying that Cloud is just delulu and that aerith is now dead didn't pay enough attention to the details we were given.

    • @nohemi6899
      @nohemi6899 Před 2 měsíci +7

      I agree. Cloud isn't delulu about Aerith. Cloud did save her and there is now another world in which she still lives. Where she is saved. The devs somehow did the impossible of saving her and also killing her. To Cloud, she is well and truly alive because she is. He will have to come to grips with what happened in the Rebirth timeline, but he also has another world where she is alive. To the team, Cloud is going crazy but to Cloud it is the truth.

    So after this game, there are now 3 branches;
    The main timeline
    One where Zack lives, following the breach at the end of remake
    And now one where aerith lives at the end or rebirth.

That is why when he sees Aerith the sky splits since anyone who is not the original is condemned to die. like he did where Zack was before Aerith saved him. And I’m the reality he saved her he said “I got this” going to battle sephiroth, and in the other cloud was crying cause he didn’t save her. Sephiroth changed fate and switched it to the timeline where she dies when you saw the whispers flash around sephiroth. But this time everyone saw alternate times of her living and dying. Probably being the flashback from the church for the 3rd game.

    Thank you for sharing your playthrough! Been a fan ever since Sephiroth was announced as the final boss of Smash Bros 2020 😂
    Something that has surprised me in watching the playthroughs of many longtime fans: when it comes to the scene where Cloud is standing in front of Aerith at the altar, almost all of them refuse to press the triggers, because the OG taught them that any button presses simply progress Cloud to attempt to attack her. However, this was actually a mechanic that was put into the game to utilize the resistance functions of the PS5 controller. The more that you continuously press the triggers, the harder Cloud fights to RESIST the whispers who are trying to pull his weapon up over his head, in preparation to strike Aerith down. The resistance of the triggers becomes progressively harder, until the game proceeds as usual. It's a small in-game mechanic that translates Cloud's on-screen struggle into an actual physical mechanic for the player.
    Broke my heart to see Tifa basically speechless after Aerith's death. I don't know how the writers and developers will conclude the final part, but as a fan, I'm trusting that they'll bring the trilogy to a satisfactory conculsion.

    • @bhickman1015
      @bhickman1015 Před měsícem +1

      @@TP-pq9xxSort of yes. Many have interpreted that because Cloud is the only one that got through that 'boundry of fate' and was in there when he parries the masamune and you get that rainbow lighting effect, only he perceives the new branch reality created in there where Aerith is saved and survives. After that moment where the branch is made, Sephiroth merges some realities (possibly the OG ff7 one being among them) and has enough control to select the outcome for the prime reality the party exists in to be her death. But, a separate and parallel reality where she was saved by Cloud's interception does exist and since Cloud was inside the whisper wall and created the new branch, he's capable of seeing and interacting with that reality too where the rest of the party cannot. For a moment they do show Tifa sort of seeing the different realities when she sees Cloud holding Aerith and before her eyes the scene oscillates between a dead and bloodied Aerith and the unharmed living version. Either she's just more observant than the rest of the party and notices it for a moment here, or she has some special connection that allows her to see it(maybe because of her previous journey into the lifestream earlier).
      Now this is all still theory and may be completely wrong but I interpret those scenes and Cloud now straddling two realities or at least able to interact with the one Aerith is saved in and that's why he's not processing that she's dead in the world the rest of the team is in, because to him; she's not. He's seeing her in the saved branch he made, and talking to her, etc. His mind is still very messed up as it was in OG here so he denies her death in the prime reality that everyone else experiences and presumably he laid her to rest in, but it's also complicated because I think he is actually seeing a living version of her in the parallel branch he made. The scar in the sky at the end also lends some credibility to this and in my mind; Zack's parting words to 'save her' also point to Aerith living in some way and being 'savable' somehow otherwise that seems kind of like a nonsense line for the devs to include from Zack at a crucial moment towards the end.
      All this to say that yeah basically just like a new reality was created for the party at the end of remake when they beat the harbingers of fate after Aerith opened a path through the whisper wall that they all crossed through, the same happened at the end here with Cloud creating a new one with his deflection; albeit this time without the rest of the party present inside the whisper wall.
      Where this goes in part 3 is hard to guess, but I'd submit that Zack's supposition that split realities could rejoin again at the end may play a role in part 3. We might get the branch where Aerith was saved (maybe this is also a reality where Zack was deposited in the church at the end) rejoined to the parties' main reality at some point which might effectively give you both characters returned to the team alive. I think that's decently likely in the 3rd installment at some point, though whether they remain alive in the same world as the party by the end would be hard to guess. That hinges on whether they link the end of part 3 to Advent Children chronologically which requires those two characters be in the lifestream or if as I'm guessing, AC connects to this story through that future version of Sephiroth and maybe OG Aerith's consciousness projecting through the lifestream back to the beginning of this trilogy (Remake). In which case, the ending of this Re-trilogy could be totally different with it being essentially the new 'good end' to the whole story. Impossible to know for sure and as always, these theories could be way off, but at least there's some evidence there for them in what we've seen so far.
      I'd be ok with these characters actually getting to live lives they've all suffered and fought so hard for this time around if they go that route. Appreciating and cherishing the life you're given is a potent theme too just as moving beyond loss was in OG after all, and it might be the only way to shake Sephiroth's cyclical ability to come back through Cloud's guilt and pained memories over and over (as AC detailed) anyway.

    I have so many questions
    I do think the implication IS that Aerith is now connected to Cloud in spirit.............but there's weird little things that occur during the scene. Cloud's sword clashing with Sephiroth's, the rainbow effect seemingly indicating a split in the timeline like we were shown with Zack. The fact they specifically mute Cloud's dialouge and do not show her water burial. The fact that ONLY CLOUD was behind the whisper wall this time and not his friends as opposed to remake........... and that it flashes to them with her dead body and Cloud telling her to wake up....and she does? The fact that Aerith says she will do what she can to stop meteor despite the fact it hasn't been summoned yet, (could her future knowledge have been returned due to the white materia?) The fact that only Cloud can see the tear in the sky, a indicator of a branching timeline about to 'end'.........I think there may be multiverse shenanigans going on. I think Cloud is: 1 Either completely insane at this point or 2: is somehow perceiving different realities at once? Either way I think Aerith will remain 'dead' to our party and their reality at least, hence her saying goodbye, but will she be 'dead' to Cloud and the multiverse in general? That i'm not so sure.

    • @thrillsekr2606
      @thrillsekr2606 Před 2 měsíci +6

      After talking about it with a friend, here's my thought:
      Aerith is hella dead. In this timeline and the "other." But I think it's a bit more than just the multiverse. Everything is connected to the lifestream. It's how Zack is able to interfere in Cloud's fight and its where he goes at the end. Multiple worlds is all based on the lifestream, its why Aerith, Biggs, and Zack, people who should be dead, are able to interfere. It's basically Advent Children. Cloud has completely lost his mind and because of a number of influences, maybe even because he still has the black material on him, he thinks Aerith is fine. The water burial happened, Cloud said his famous lines to Aerith about how she can't "cry or smile anymore." But Cloud has blocked it out because he, like the audience, can't accept Aerith's death. In the Temple, everyone went through a trial to prepare them for accepting loss...Everyone except for Cloud. When the Northern Cave sequence happens, Cloud is going to be broken even more, not just by realizing that he's not a SOLDIER but by the fact that Aerith has been dead for ages. And when that moment happens, we'll see Aerith's death in its true form: Cloud's last words to her and the water burial. Aerith's death, the tragedy, its still intact. It's just been repurposed slightly to further drive Cloud insane.
      It's why this exchange in the final boss is so interesting:
      "So what do you make of all this Cloud? Is this real or a fever dream?"
      "Cut it out! That shit won't work on me...not anymore!"
      And Sephiroth laughs. Because it already is working on him, even now.

      I actually think it’s both. Cloud has gone completely insane because his mind has been so warped by this alternate reality stuff. He is unable to distinguish what is and isn’t real to his reality anymore, hence why he thinks he saved Aerith when everyone else is mourning her.

    • @thrillsekr2606
      @thrillsekr2606 Před 2 měsíci

      @@NoonDragoon it might be but I really don’t think it’s that complex. The main part that everyone talks about is Sephiroth talking about the multiverse, but if you actually listen to what he says, a picture begins to form:
      “The planet encompasses a multitude of worlds, ever unfolding.”
      “Nevertheless, [the multiple world]’s loss is not to be mourned. For it is not death, but a homecoming that awaits them. And in the planet’s embrace, all life is as one.”
      It’s not a multiverse, it’s not even multiple realities. It’s different aspects of the lifestream.
      I think of it like this: the planet is playing a very elaborate game of chess against Jenova. Jenova’s vessel, Sephiroth, and the planet’s vessel, Aerith, are at the heart of the battle. Sephiroth takes over the whispers from Remake, giving him an edge and allowing him to manipulate the lifestream, see the future. So the planet responds with its own whispers and its own champion to break the rules: Zack Fair.
      Sephiroth counters by keeping Zack away, and by further manipulating Cloud; making him think Aerith is alive and keeping the only person capable of clearing his senses, Tifa, as far away and distant from cloud as possible.
      Right now, Sephiroth is winning. The only thing that will turn the tide is the planet and Tifa bringing Cloud to his senses

    My take on this:
    She is dead. There is no timeline where she lives. She is dead here, Sephiroth killed her. This isnt flickering between timelines of where she died and where cloud saved her. What we are seeing is fragments of reality mixed with what Cloud wants to see. We know his brain clouds his mind and hides the truth from himself because its too hard to handle. So when he sees her waking up, thats what he wants to see. So thats what his brain tells him he is seeing.
    I believe when we reach the northern crater and Sephiroth is showing him his reality, while Cloud is telling Tifa its all an illusion make to confuse them, Sephiroth will show cloud what actually happened at the altar. And then we will get the iconic scene, with all the dialogue from the original, and cloud lowering her into the water. His brain has blocked the entire scene out to save himself from breaking down, exactly as he did with nibleheim. I found it very confusing at first playthrough, as so much was happening. but when you do this a second time, it all makes sense and comes together. Everyone else is mourning, while Cloud acts like nothing happened because his brain has told him nothin has happened. He sees Aeris so thinks she is there. But, in time, he will learn the truth of what happened and he will have one bad fucking breakdown.

      I agree. I think she's dead. He just cannot accept it mentally. Also Sephiroth is altering the destiny/timeline of FF7. So its possible to say that he probably manipulated that moment to make it seem to cloud like had saved Aerith. So Cloud truly believes in a twisted way that he did. But also it's all in his head. A bit confusing but oh well. Long story short, Aerith is dead 😔

      The lines are already been drawn ... The writers did a wonderful job of answering one mystery and introducing a new one to keep us talking until part 3. The ending is intentionally ambiguous, not unlike Remake's ending where there were numerous debates about Zack's fate being changed or not. Two things can be true at once. I think Cloud is not simply "imagining" Aerith as Nanaki could vaguely sense her presence in the cut scene at the end. My thoughts are that her appearances to Cloud would unwittingly prolong the trauma of her death. This would explain his mental and emotional state in AC. The theme of FF7 is and always been coping with loss. Let's not forget that Cloud actually remembers Zack--but confuses him with another infantryman (so basically, he got the roles reversed). Wait a minute ... Rebirth? Reverse? heh ...well played.

    • @gatorarman12
      @gatorarman12 Před 2 měsíci +9

      I disagree. The reason? Nanaki. The final cutscene makes a point to show Nanaki sensing Aerith putting her hand on him. I think that was very intentional on the part of the devs. The one moment makes it improbable that the whole thing is in cloud's head/a grief response. The earlier game flash-sideways to alternate timeline Zack also have nothing to do with our Cloud and essentially confirm that alternate timelines exist.
      What probably happened: In the remake timeline cloud successfully blocks masamune. Aeirth is saved. A rainbow appears with the block (similar to other rainbows when Cloud and Zack are traveling between timelines/universes). Then AFTER (the key is after) this occurs, the fate whispers intervene and put the remake trilogy on the original games course and make it so Aeirth is dead. However because they couldn't intervene before cloud blocked the blow (they tried, but we the player force ourselves to make it in time), there is still an alternate timeline where Aeirth lived. But in the trilogy timeline, she is dead to everyone except cloud.
      The Aeirth we see at the end is the one from the timeline where Cloud saved her. She's the same one that fought with him against Sephiroth, hell her beginning dialogue thanks him for what he did for her (saving her). And then at the end of the game he asks her if she knows the way back (to her timeline/world).
      Why can Cloud see her and no one else can? The same reason he can see the rift from the Zack timeline. Cloud, Zack, Sephiroth, and Aeirth are the most important characters in the original game, and they are the ones whose fates are being directly changed in this trilogy. It's clear they all have some special relationship with fate and the new conclusion the trilogy is going towards. I mean throughout the game cloud is seeing flashes of the alternate timelines (the static when he holds his head).

    So I just thought of this, in the beginning of the game all the party members are dead except Cloud. Maybe what we're seeing in the end here is we're playing as both versions of cloud, the one that saves her without his dead party members from Midgar explosion (hence why none of them are around) and another one where she dies but the party members survived the Midgar explosion. What confuses me though is how does the Cloud with his party members see her and speak to her, is Cloud, after this moment, just Omni-present? I Cloud's future/fate completely fixed/static allowing him to experience all realities at once? Maybe time/world shifting mechanics in part 3? I think the beginning of the game is way more important than we think and will probably be completely combed through for the next X amount of years till part 3 lol.

    • @bhickman1015
      @bhickman1015 Před 2 měsíci +2

      This is an interesting idea. We still don't know what became of that missing Cloud from the initial 'world' where we first begin with Zack at Rebirth's start. I'm not sure that's the one interacting with Aerith at the end though.
      TLDR: Only Cloud sees the new reality where Aerith was saved because only he was inside the whisper wall when his deflection made that new branch reality. The rest of the team was outside the whisper wall and so when a new branch reality was created inside there, they have no connection to it and thus can't see the living Aerith or the torn sky in her reality like Cloud can.
      I interpret the scenes in the forgotten capital with Cloud and a seemingly saved and living Aerith, but other party members missing as Cloud's interacting with a new branch reality he created inside the whisper-dome when he parried Sephiroth's killing stroke. Basically, I think the reason only Cloud is there in those scenes alone with Aerith where he holds her and she is alive, is because he was the only one to get through the whisper wall when he parried and created the branch reality where she lives. The rest of the party was outside that whisper dome at the time and essentially locked out of a connection with the new branch reality where Aerith is saved.
      For this reason the 'Aerith, wake up' scene and scenes with Cloud interacting with Aerith at the end are only experienced by Cloud while the rest of the party sees something completely different (ie. dead Aerith in the only reality they can perceive). This also explains why Cloud doesn't act like she's dead~ to him seeing the other reality where she was saved, she's not and presumably why only he can see the tear in the sky at the end (alive Aerith's branch reality). A part of his conscious is aware that she died in the reality that the rest of the party solely sees though and he gets a brief flash of it as a memory by the lake as one of those green flash intrusive thoughts that quickly gets suppressed/dismissed by himself or Jenova's influence. Red XIII also senses the Aerith from this alternate reality at the end, but that can possibly be explained by his character having always known more about arbiters of fate, the whispers and other realities ~ all throughout Rebirth it is shown that he or perhaps his species are more in tune with this natively.

    The problem with "multiverse" nonsense is that it renders your setting soulless. Dying doesn't matter anymore because everybody is alive in the next timeline over. Every narrator is unreliable because the devs can just write any scene so that you're dreaming about some other timeline, or your consciousness transferred somewhere else, or Cloud is just hallucinating. We've got like three different Zacks now... Which one am I supposed to care about?
    The only thing about the ending I find interesting is Aerith's role in it. She seems like a "nexus" character from the Marvel franchise, where the same Aerith exists across all timelines simultaneously. Cloud might have the same thing going on. If that's what they're going for they can still set stakes around their roles in the story, but I that ship has sailed for the rest of the cast.

    To put it simple, as it was explained, every decision makes new timeline, however most of them are unstable and can't survive long. In the ending we saw the end of multiple universes created by different decisions from the characters. Aerith from another timeline gave Cloud new and full materia to fight Sephiroth before she got killed by him and this timeline dies. She used her power to control lifestream to help Zack's universe to merge with the main line, so he can help Cloud to defeat Sephiroth and took him into the lifestream with her before he was killed at the end of the world. However, Cloud managed to create new timeline by blocking the sword and I guess, this will be the timeline where she will pray to stop the meteor in the main universe (event from the original game, btw). However, this timeline will be sacraficed too, because in Advent Children, both she and Zack are in the life stream.

    So when cloud has those glitchy flashes while holding aerith, you see his mouth move but his voice is muted. Apparently, these are flashes to his speach scene from the original game, the "she wont laugh or cry or get angry... my mouth is dry, my eyes burning" speech. This is also the part where sephiroth's response to this is almost the same in both OG and Rebirth, telling cloud to stop pretending to have feelings, to stop acting sad or angry, because he is a puppet.
    Now the major difference is this. In the glitchy flashes, that depict the OG scene, where he has that impactful, and emotional speech we all remember, Cloud doesnt shed any tears. Nothing. However, in this rebirth iteration, he doesnt say anything. No emotional speech, not a single word, but the tears are streaming down his face.
    Does that mean in the OG, cloud really is a puppet and is just faking this emotional scene, but in rebirth he breaks out of being a puppet and now shows genuine feelings and emotions?

She senses that more and more souls get corrupted by him (black whispers), she tries to find out what he is planning, but she is afraid to get too close. The best way to think about Aerith's existence is that, if you examine when Cloud deflects Sephiroth's attack, a rainbow patter appears, exactly like each time Zack made a decision. On another video, the going theory is that Aerith physically "died" in the main timeline but "survives" in a parallel timeline created by Cloud's deflection. But, because she's a Cetra, she has powers that allow her to exist through the lifestream and harness the white Whisperers to be able to "exist" in such a way as to allow Cloud to see her until it's time for the next event. There's a rather deep discussion on it in the comments section on this video:

    I finished this game today and cried all day afterwards. For someone who is thoroughly familiar with all major components of the franchise and adores all the characters, this Destroyed me. Then leaving Aerith’s spirit behind, Cloud being in denial, Zack potentially never properly reuniting with them, it’s so tragic and yet inevitable. Legendary game.

    It's really cool to see Ben Diskin still getting work with Square Enix. I still remember meeting him at an anime convention back in 2017 and he did a Young Xehanort line from memory. Dude is really cool.

    As much as i wasnt happy with how aeriths death went down. No send off, none of the original lines, the whole confusing nature of it etc.. im glad she will return in part 3. She was the star of this entire game. And in a way, the gang leaving her behind, and her saying goodbye, was enough of a send off in the end. Bravo square enix, a true masterpiece

      same, she became one of my favorite characters in remake and rebirth only solidified it for me. the ending was bittersweet but since there's the whole timeline stuff and her being alive in another timeline makes it also hopeful for part 3.

    An interesting note is that Remake: Intergrade got an UPDATE on THE SAME DAY when Rebirth released. It changed dialogue in the English dub of Aerith during the ending outside the city. Pre-release she said, "I miss the steel sky" however, in the new update, she says what is a more correct translation of the original japanese, "I really hate the sky." Which could indicate that Aerith in the main timeline had always seen the sky as the torn version just like we see in the end.

    What I think and what you’re thinking are so in line, because these last few scenes with Aerith, especially the slow turn and the music being creepy, almost reminiscent of Sephiroth’s slow turn in the fire, like I was so uncomfortable, creeped out by this “Aerith”. So unsettling. Like Cloud is repressing so hard, as he’s done before, and his mind is even more broken than it was in the OG. To me a major part of FF7 is mental health, and how it deteriorating can be such an awful thing, and yes I know some will say it’s lifestream Aerith, but it can be both, and even if it isn’t, to me personally, Cloud’s mind is just beyond broken.

    I have a theory!
    Sephiroth succeeds with the uniting of worlds which brings Zack and Aerith back to us from different timelines for the final fight. He summons Meteor and we take him down like the original and Holy comes in and everything goes awry but then boom, Aerith joins our timeline and brings the Lifestream with her to save the planet. Everything like the original, but everyone is together and our childhoods can finally start to heal after decades of suffering! Right?!
    ... right?

    I am honestly surprised how dream-like the other parallel world seems. It seems more like a portal to a close, small section of another side, rather than a full-on multiverse. And I kinda like it that way! Funny enough, when I first played of7, there were multiple Clouds shown in 1 scene and I was also super confused 😂

    I think you have to see this from Cloud's perspective. He's losing his mind. Everyone else is mourning her, but he thinks he sees her? Much like his own memories, he can't even rely on his own perception. When he finds out that she's well and truly dead and everyone keeps questioning how he isn't even reacting appropriately to her death, he will crack. Hard.

    Aerith is death but she transcended into the Life Stream becoming it's protector, like "Mother Earth", Cloud is connected to Aerith, that's why he is the only one who can see her and interract with her, similar to OG Cloud in Advent Children.
    Aerith's body died, her spirit lives on in the Planet's Life Stream.

    10:35 and yet they made you whether you pressed anything or not. I too was at the edge of my seat thinking we actually defied fate, but that’s to be truly determined in the final game of the trilogy.
    42:40 that’s actually bizzaro sephiroth, the big form you fight in the north crater in the OG game after the last jenova and before safer sephiroth. Which also confirms that we’ll be fighting that form in the third game, but I wonder if we’ll fight a new form of sephiroth.
    I honestly did enjoy getting in one final fight with Aerith, and the ending felt good. Also with Glenn and the first soldier more relevant now, will you be reacting to the new story chapter drops of first soldier or will you just playthrough the whole story once it’s complete in ever crisis? It’s kind of funny that Ben Diskin plays another villain in a console game whose full origin we have to find out through an app game (it’s dark road all over again lol)
    Do you think the empty materia will be used to help cloud piece together who he is and think we might see Denzel in the third game as a background character?

    It was Bizarro Sephiroth, the second-to-last form of Sephiroth you fight at the end of the OG. Safer Sephiroth is his winged form with the halos, when One Winged Angel plays. We'll definitely see that in Part 3, though I am surprised we got Bizarro Sephiroth this early on. I think it's a nice touch, and helps the player visualize how powerful he's become after years of hibernation (just like Jenova).
