    Need to see some of these cars on the east coast. Have a lot of nice ones here too. Be nice to see fresh cars from the old days!

    What a great track. What great times. I sure miss ol' KCIR. I could hear them from my house. I wish I had a dollar for every pass I've made there.

    I guess none of you commenters are drag racers. Know body seem to notice that this mans 4 speed car ran 5 or 6 passes at 10.02 at 136mph. If you dont see how rock solid that is you really have no clue. Guys will spend 4 seasons trying to make that happen with an automatic using a trans brake, a delay box, and a stutter box with a throttle stop and never do it. This guy is driving a 4 speed car with no line lock ( that I could tell because he almost rolled through the beem a couple times) and on a leaf spring rear suspension. Not even a Caltraks set up. He could go to any local Saturday night Heavy Bracket class and make money being that consistent. Any bracket racer will agree a 4 speed car doing that is crazy good especially with no electronics.

    I was there for this meet that day. I left Richmond, VA to train for a job almost 7 months in DeSoto, KS, and ventured out to this track. A big thunderstorm rolled up that evening. It amazed me how the handful of “brave” folks in the aluminum bleachers remained there during the storm. I was back at my Jeep in the parking lot taking video of the awesome lightning bolts coming to the ground towards the finish line. People still sat up high in the bleachers throughout the bad storm! They were truly rolling the dice! I really enjoyed this drag meet otherwise!

    How I miss ol KCIR!!! It is a shame to see it go. Got started there back in 1974. Must of made made 1500 passes there in my 62 bubbletop. All the good tracks are gone but not forgotten.

    Does anyone know if any of these rigs are still around? Sitting in a garage somewhere?

    KCIR was a victim of suburban sprawl with stupid developers building homes closer and closer. Noise complaints from the idiots that bought those homes. Amazing how money screws up everything. Place was there for probably 40 years down in a Valley and noise was not a problem before. The same company that rebuilt Heartland is going to rebuild Old I-70 Speedway and bring back KCIR. Going to be a few years however.

    Sucks must have been before Ronnie Sox went to Sox and Martin cause I believe in 65 he ran a Plymouth Belvedere it’s just a tribute car or maybe Ronnie Sox did own it a great man Ronny Sox was rip mr 4 speed it’s a great piece of history though the comet so if it was a real Ronnie Sox car it would be worth a lot the great team of Sox and Martin I watched a piece of a drag race and he was driving a Plymouth Belvedere a 65 it launched like it was going to the moon it was a awesome race it’s on you tube the history of Ronnie Sox don’t show no fords thoughb

    the early hemi's are to easy, that's why they have own class, the Fords are better looking but heavy and harder to make fast, the early Pontiacs are just sweet, fast good looking cars. give me a 63 Catalina big block way fun

    • @bradzimmerman3171
      @bradzimmerman3171 Před 5 lety +1

      Pontiacs are much better now that GM doesn't build them anymore
