  • Underpowered? 2019 Suzuki Vitara 1.0 Litre SZ-T Review
A few days ago I published a review of the 1.4 litre Suzuki Vitara, and I saw that it was good. However, what about the 1.0 litre engine? After handing the 1.4 litre back, I was given a 1.0 litre version to see how that performed. The question is, does it feel underpowered? Watch this to find out.

Great review Aaron. This is a nice suv, neat styling and simply done. The engine sounds a gem and the car is reasonably priced compared to others. Suzuki reliability is first class so I might think about one in the future. My Tucson is very refined but it is a bit wide for many parking spaces here in NI.

Decent review, I’m surprised the co2 emission of 139 costing £170 to tax. I would have expected lower emissions for a small engine.

Nice review! We have have one for nearly a year now and it is a brilliant car. And I say this as somebody who also has a BMW M3. One of the best 1.0l cars out there right now. Obviously Suzuki make brilliant motorbikes but they seem to have a slightly unknown reputation to most when it comes to cars. Currently this is quite useful because their cars are brilliant but I think are often much more competitively priced versus other cars due to people not knowing enough about Suzuki. Drove a swift sport a few years ago and that was a brilliant car too - reliable also according to the person who still has it and after 100 000mi of them driving it has replaced nothing but filters, brakes and oil.

What a shame that it only has a five speed gearbox! So many other positives, though, and definitely one of the better cars in the class.

Yes, it's like the five speed manual in the MG ZS 1.5. Both cars are so reasonably priced that you sort of let them off, don't you?

I had Swift with the same engine. Good car to drive but I couldn’t get the seat position right no matter what I did with it as my version didn’t have reach adjustment on the steering wheel. Wasn’t as settled on motorways as I was expecting so long journeys were tiring. The Vitara has better ride comfort, had the use of a 1.6 petrol allgrip version in Scotland a few years ago in winter, very good.

@13:32 and there it is, that says its all, The 1.4 is much better and with 4x4 its make this SUV a far more complete package, not only for on road use but a also a decent mild offroad machine. Whats the use of getting a big car with a tiny engine just to say that I own a big car. Its about getting it balanced, the 1.2 is simply not enough, OK but not enough.

If you are “mature”Ford RS2000 fast fords we’re 109bhp. 111bhp with a turbo for mid range grunt, I would say this is more than adequate. I’ve only driven the 1.4 booster jet and I think that’s too fast for the style of car it’s so effortless. Nice review. Horrid colour. Nice car. They don’t do these in SZ5 which has most of the goodies. You are the only reviewer to mention the steering? I found it wandered and was permanently correcting it. Electric power steering? But yes definately something there as you identify
