I imagine the Showdown backend doesn't consider a Ditto transformed into a Ditto to be transformed. Edit: Actually, seems there's multiple failures at play here! Because according to Bulbapedia, in the games, Imposter should not activate if it is obtained, only when sent out. So even if a Pokémon that is currently a Ditto is never considered transformed, the loop should still be impossible because both Dittos are technically gaining Imposter. (If they weren't technically gaining Imposter, it shouldn't activate either, but most other Abilities do activate when obtained so I imagine they just forgot to make an exception for Imposter.)
I remember on pokémon stadium 2, I made a ditto vs ditto. However, for some reason, one of them was faster than the other, so he used transform, but the other's transform failed. In the end, out of PP (since he didn't actually transform and just failed), so he won. (Back then before struggle did insane recoil damage)
with hundreds of pokemon, i'm not surprised that ditto vs ditto was missed in the QA process. i'm sure there's plenty of other edge cases like these that people don't notice till it actually comes up.

Ok next gen, if ditto uses transform on another ditto, It will transform into a pokemon with its evolution based on the level of the ditto, and when its lv 100, it can morph into either a legendary or mythical.

In the actual games, Imposter and Transform simply don't work on a pokemon with Imposter.
and that's why ditto can't breed, because if you put them together, they will summon a nuclear launch
I don't know, I think Pokémon players might like the idea of breeding a nuclear launch for IVs.
