It was still not just him. Many other people are involved. And it is important to talk about it and find every monster that try to cover it so other people will not have the idea that they can go with it. Imagine watching all the episodes. The second episode sets up everything: teenage girls are abused by Chaplain; they are made to swallow because he told them it was holy spirit; the abusers somehow never mentioned these things to her parents; the police, FBI and government helped protect the people of parish. A quick google search would tell you that they lived upto 62 years of age without getting charged for anything. No one got justice. The rest of the episodes would be just demoralising ones. Who would want to watch that?

But you comment is so me! I love it!! My boyfriend who is kinda a introvert himself, always jokes about me just being in my pjs all day and watching these types of thing while I make baby blankets (I'm expecting my 2nd baby, a boy) and how I feel like just me doing those 2 things in one day is a VERY productive day, then I fall asleep and repeat. I'm a stay at home mom so it's easier for me to keep my introvert lifestyle, some days I'll switch it up and go out to buy yarn but ya know! Online shopping is a thing lmao

I give your comment a thumbs up, and I’m on episode 5…but, I found a hole in Jane Doe’s story and am waiting for it to be answered..She said, in this Doc, on camera, that Sister Cathy hugged her-saying that she’ll “take care of it” and told Jean (Doe) to go home and “have a great summer.” Then Jean said, she never saw Sister Cathy alive again-which I take as, Sister Cathy never returned to her job as a teacher. Implying that she was killed. But, Sister Cathy went missing in Nov, not in the summer. Is this ever addressed? I believe much of what Jean (Doe) remembers-but I think her timeline is muddled…

depends what one means by "entertain" , yeah, there is saying fucking off to adversity, and then there's just being an unempathic selfish arsehole, no one wants to deal with someone like that.
it is easier to be kind, than it is to be nasty to someone.
but, if one finds it easier to be nasty, then one should really look closely at oneself.
      imo.
for any who gave been hurt by the evil institutions of the church, from their magdelene laundries to priests messing with altar boys, it's fucking vile, disgusting.
this is what happens when people are forced to go against nature, that whole enforced celibacy thing, priests not being allowed to get married.that's not healthy, not normal.
unless someone is genuinely asexual, which is apparently very rare, then they should be allowed to have normal relationships, otherwise it comes out in warped, sick ways.
as for the nuns, beating young women and children, that's just pure evil.
I know this isn't what this particular documentary is about, am just referring to all the vile stuff that went on in catholic countries especially throughout the last century.
as for this, and the cover-up, well, they believe in hell, don't they?
assuming they've ever even read a line from that bible book.
it says "better to tie a millstone around your neck and jump into the depths of the sea, than it is to lay a hand on one of my children".
so I'd take that as, that piece of filth priest and associates is going rot, good enough.
      and may that poor
nun and any like her, r.i.p.

The level of sexual abuse on children - of both genders - and the inhumane murder to cover it all up. Not only that, what really shocked me is that all authorities were in on everything and they allowed these - so called - priests to continue doing what they were doing without even making an attempt to stop it. Shaming victims, turning the tables on them, turning everything against them with zero sympathy! That was way too awful! God bless Cathy's soul, she was sent for a higher calling. I just watched for the second time and will probably watch again!! This is an EXCELLENT series!!! Absolutely beautifully orchestrated.
I was a child of the sixties so I have a feel for the time period. All the survivors are incredible women (and men) whom I've grown to admire. You ladies are warriors of and for the truth.
The behavior of Maskell is nothing less than demonic, but worse is the blatant cover for his actions. Mind boggling.
Gemma, you are a fantastic story teller. Can't wait to read your book. Jean... I wish I could just hug you. All of you... incredible.
    Forever in my heart!!!

I had a very creepy experience watching this series that made me question what happens when a wicked soul dies. Feel free to think I'm crazy, hell, I barely believe my own mind. When a picture of one of the priests was shown, the name Magnus popped into my head, and how his first name had started with E, but he didn't go by that. Sure enough, it was said that the priest's name was E. Neil Magnus. He died in 1988 and I was born 2 years later. That picture was like looking into a mirror for me, like I had seen that face every day of my life. I was really creeped out considering the man was a sadistic rapist and I thought of stopping right then and there. But as I continued watching the episodes, there was this great sense of sorrow and shame that came over me that was much more intense than just what someone watching a documentary should feel.
I thought about going to a hypnosis session to see if I could find out more, but something inside me keeps asking, 'Do you really want to know what you did?' And what would I do? Even assuming the women who were abused believed me, it's not like you can give an apology for something that heinous part of you did in a past life. Words are trite and meaningless when a crime of that magnitude has been committed.
