  • Start with your left arm in the correct position and you will feel like cheating in your golf swing. In this golf video Danny Maude shows by getting the left arm in the correct starting position with driver and irons the golf swing just feels easy.
    When you get the left arm in the correct position it helps you get a perfect backswing. In fact once you have locked the left arm in place Danny shows you exactly how to move the left arm perfectly with his signature dumbbell move.
    But the golf lesson wouldn't be complete without knowing how to move it in the downswing. Danny Maude has you covered. There is no room for loads of complicated swing thoughts in the golf swing so you need something super simple.

    ABOUT DANNY
    -----------------------
    Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
    I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
    On CZcams and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
    Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
    I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

    Love this video. You basically explained what Pete told you in the other video but with the lead arm instead of the trail arm. Combining this with your video on "squeezing" your arms together to get the right structure is very helpful. Some golfers feel more on their lead side and some feel it more on their trail side. It's important to understand both, but only really possible to think about 1-2 things during your downswing.

    Hey Danny, these lessons have really helped. Especially the left foot lift at the top of the backswing, it's really helped with timing. I like the lesson today, I saw Bryson giving someone a lesson and he talked about the left elbow, so I've tried to incorporate it slowly into my swing. This towel drill is a really good way to keep that left elbow under control. As always Danny, thank you.

    My first sport was cricket and preferred stroke was a cover drive or a pull over midwicket. It took years of playing golf (once retired from cricket) to realize the cricket swing was infecting my golf swing. What you described today as a fault in a golf swing is just what you need to hit my favorite cricket shots. For ex-cricketers, think about hitting the ball over long-off. Then you will be swinging the golf club just like Danny suggests in this video.

    Danny, I m fortunate to live in Texas, so I was able to play and try to emulate the golf swing. You learned from the long driver.
    The problem seem to be that I was swinging my arms and not keeping my arms in front of my body, which has been a problem in my golf, swing most of my life. If you feel it would help your students could you do a video on the turning of the body and keeping the arms in front of the chest and not swinging them out before from the chest.
    I appreciate your videos, and I’m sure this one with balance of the club will help. It immediately struck a note with me. Thank you for all your help.

    Danny, great video. It is important for golfers to understand that in order to control the club face, you muust control the grip end (handle). The clubface usually does the opposite of what the handle does, raise the handle and the club face drops, lower the handle and the clubface rises. Once we learn how to control the handle, we can begin to control the clubface. Cheers.

    Oh, one last quick story Danny. I took the towel with me to the range last week after watching your long drive lesson. I went there with my pal who wants to learn golf. At some point he asked me to show him the driver. I lowered his expectations, showed him the set up and smashed the best driver I've ever hit. I hadn't set the tracer tech to long drive, so didn't get a proper distance. But club path was 0.0 and it hit the net at the back of the range 155 yards away and was rising! By the end of the sesh, I smashed a couple over the net.
    I can finally hit my driver! Love you Danny!

    Its so interesting, if you play around with your swing for months youll likely find something that feels good and works. I came across this same exact feeling about a couple months ago and it worked and felt good and repeatable. Up until then it was a slow work in progress. Our bodies are smart, they know what movements work and what movements needs extra movements to get a shot to happen. This feeling should be taught to everyone, the golf swing is up and down. The follow through doesnt even really matter, it takes care of itself when you put yourself in good positions in the backswing and then the unwinding. Realizing it wasnt a turn made the biggest difference in hitting the ball well and consistency. Its just an unwinding!

    Amazing, I was just getting a sensr of this feeling confusion of control. Sometimes in line; sometimes not. Now I know why. In addtion, there was a down swing speed difference which going over certain limit made me lose control as well even though the back swing was in control.

    HI Danny, does the speed of the back swing affect the speed of the club face on the down swing? Or can I use a slower back swing and then accelerate though the down swing and still get the distance and accuracy (and keep control of the club)?

    How does the unraveling the club underneath your body square with previous instruction to circle up on the arc and down on the arc?

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  Před 3 měsíci

      This is what naturally creates the circle and squares the club face at impact. Was there something specifically you were unsure about as I’d be happy to clarify?

    • @loubody3723
      @loubody3723 Před 3 měsíci

      It seemed to me that unraveling (dropping) the club underneath was more of a 2 plane swing motion for better players and circling the arc was more one plane for average players trying for distance through better contact.

    Another excellent video, so incisively and enthusiasticly presented as always, thank you. You've helped me transform my game from really bad to less really bad over the past few years 😜 Quick question on this particular lesson: Is it just me or is your launch angle using this method somewhat lower than usual? My home course isn't extraordinarily long and I've always been a long-ish hitter for my age so I'm less concerned about distance. Just hoping to get your thoughts on it. Cheers!

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I would say it’s not lower but now more consistent. Sometime I would hit top up on the ball 6-7 degrees and then the next 0 so it was a little inconsistent. Now I’m always around 2

    Pete Cowan showed you how to rotate your right arm at (it looks like) the bottom of the swing. It looks like in this video, you rotate that right forearm almost at the start of your downswing which is much easier from a timing standpoint. Am I missing something. Great stuff. Thanks.

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Hi Henry, the right arm will naturally drop down a little in transition and then the arm will simply straighten.
      It’s this straightening that causes the arm to “spin down” as Pete likes to call it.

    Q - when you're "putting pressure" on the handle it's fair to say your wrist is not in an ulnar position, i.e. not fully extended forward/toe down. At impact, have you released this wrist fully down/ulnar? I have done both with mixed results - keeping the pressure down on the handle at impact feels secure, but is harder to close the face without it diving into the ground, whereas hitting the ball with full ulnar makes it much easier to close the face and keep angle up as you're simply bowing the lead wrist, but I'm not sure if it's reducing power. Thanks.

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  Před 3 měsíci +1

      It’s a really great question and one that in reality is a matter of building skill. Remember, if you are generating high club head speed the club is always going to force the wrists into ulnar so it’s our job to apply a force on the grip to naturally control this.

    A different way to get the 'unraveling of the trail arm ' done is to 'point with the butt end of your grip at your right hip' ( from 'Japanese Golf Kinematics'; also has a great towel drill) - it gives me better control while in motion; I like the unraveling in slo mo practice. The trail arm should stay as far stretched out as possible ( from Percy Boomer. 1941) - this will give you more time for the 'separation', allowing the feet to move and the shoulder to be delayed, sth I rarely see being done on the range. I find it difficult to train separation and stretched arm with a towel. Just my own learned knowledge here, not to be taken the wrong way.
