Just found your channel and am more than a little blown away at the ease with which you explain complex ideas in such a way that they become accessible for those of us who aren't engineers. I read your bio on your blog, and can understand how busy you must be in just starting your career as well as exploring other interests beyond what has now become the routine of "work"... on the other hand- I would like to start a petition forcing you to quit your job and move into some relative's basement so you can spend your time in pursuit of producing more videos. Mostly so I can complete my robot army, but also so I can finish the design for my time machine (as a back up on the off chance that my stupid ex was right again, and the robot army turns out to not be such a great idea after all). Either that- or please consider becoming a teacher somewhere... you really are gifted, my man...

Some suggestions that perhaps you could consider for future videos:
Basics of AC circuits (reactance, impedance, oscillation, impedance matching, multi-phase systems, current/voltage lag in inductors and caps) etc etc.
Circuit simulation in LTSpice.
Concepts and design of switch mode power supplies.
Different power supply topologies.
Concepts and design of precision voltage references.
Anyway, just some ideas on area's that i feel haven't been so well explained on many other CZcams channels, and I have no doubt that you could create excellent content for!

Your tutorials are very good. I have seen many videos that explains the basic components and it's working. But I never saw any videos that explains the practical applications of each components and how to pic components for our circuits. If you can make a series of video about it, that will be very useful for electronics Lovers like me. Because many people know the working principle of each component and it's fabrication. But most of them don't know how to use it in a circuit. I know what I am asking is very difficult thing. But I'm just giving an idea. Because you can do it well. Anyway great videos. Nice explanations.

Thanks! I like "The Analysis and Design of Linear Circuits" by Roland E. Thomas and Albert J. Rosa. There are solutions manuals floating out there on there on the internet. I'd suggest finding a solutions manual first, and then buying (or finding a pdf) of the actual text book, for whatever edition the solutions manual is. I have the 5th edition (2006). They're all basically the same so don't worry about that.

MyOpenSourceKnowledge Hi! Thanks for all of your kind words. All of my videos/slides are made entirely in PowerPoint. First two were made in PowerPoint 2010, and the rest in 2013. Animations are just the standard animations in powerpoint. Just have to be a tad clever to get what you want. All graphics made with shapes/drawing tools in PowerPoint.

MyOpenSourceKnowledge It has its limitations but it’s actually pretty powerful. Theres also a screen/audio recording function built in, which is what I use. I like that I really don’t have to leave the program ever.

Hi! When measuring the current with the multi-meter, where does that resistor come from and do you have to tell the meter what resistance you're using? Grateful for your vids and binging on them. Great teaching skills, you could even earn some pocket money on Skillshare on the side.
I think your understanding is reversed on this one. The battery and resistor *is the circuit*. It's nothing different than the simple circuit we studied throughout the video. If we wanted to measure the current in that simple circuit, we put the meter in line (in series) with the circuit and it will tell us the current. It doesn't need to know anything about the circuit it is measuring.
@@SolidStateWorkshop Thanks for your response. So could the example have been given without the resistor? On the previous example there was no resistor in the circuit. Could you have just switched the meter from 'V' to 'A' and same with the cable and just measured the amperage of the same circuit, which was basically a battery in a circuit by itself?
@@PlaAwa If you remove the resistor, you will short out the battery through the multi-meter. The multi-meter is effectively zero ohms (for all intents and purposes). There's no point in trying to measure the "current of a battery". (That sentence doesn't even make sense.) A battery is a voltage source. You can measure the voltage across its two terminals, but the battery will not produce a current unless it is placed in a circuit. In this case, the simplest possible circuit is a resistor across a battery's two terminals. There is no circuit and no current without the resistor.
@@PlaAwa if you do that, its like dividing by zero, you're gonna create a blackhole (or charred fuse if your MM is protected) xD

The model of water flowing in a pipe and electrons flowing in a wire isn't quite right is it? The electrons don't actually flow, rather there is an electromagnetic field around the wire created by the voltage and that wave is transmitted from the source to the destination at the speed of light? How would you explain what's actually happening in the wire vs. the model of electron flow?
Electrons *do* actually flow in a wire. Generally the analogy holds very well, though of course, any analog breaks down at some point. I think what you are missing is that the propagation speed of an electric field (within a conductor) does not equal (≠) the drift velocity of the electrons contained therein. The marble analogy at 17:45 may be more instructive on this idea. Pushing on the marbles at left-end of the pipe *almost immediately* causes the movement of marbles at the opposite end of the pipe. This, in a way, models the propagation speed of the electric field (which is very close to the speed of light through most media). The electric field almost immediately delivers energy to the destination (i.e. a "load"), without the electrons from the source needing to actually travel all the way to the load. Does that help? Well, my brain just locked up because I always assumed that electricity flows from positive to negative. I must now undo 57 years of thinking.
