I got mine back in March when they first hit the showroom. Here’s a few observations after about 3500 miles on it.
    1. Blacked out look is the shit! Notice the cam covers on the Sixty are black instead of machined on the 1200 motor. Preserves the all black look as well as the wheels.
    2. 5 speed is more than enough. What Indian did is keep the final gear the same ratio as 6th gear so the top end is the same. In essence, they removed 5th gear. I’ve found that up to about 4000 RPM, 4th gear is where you want to be. Gets me down country roads at 60-65 with plenty left over. 5th is for the Highway.
    3. Seat looks great but trust me, you’ll opt for the factory comfort seat after your first 2hr trip. Your taint will thank you! Keeps the look and adds cushion.
    4. “EXHAUST!!!” Stock pipes look cool but stick out too far. Watch out for the curb when backing in. I added the stage 1 air intake and black 2 into 1 pipe to the price (more on price later) but had to wait until the 500 mile burn in oil change to get them installed. Made a world of difference in the torque for 3rd and 4th gear range. Sounds WAY better! Supposedly adds about 13HP but it’s all about the torque am I right???!!
    5. Bars. Drag bars look badass but as a taller rider (6’2”) I felt like a preying mantis on a Grom at times and my back will start barking at me to stop and have a smoke to get it a break! Ordered the black mini apes with the dropped down bar end mirrors. Unfortunately, with the COVID shutdown, orders are backed up until Aug so I have to wait. (Thanks a lot Wuhan!!🙄). Hoping the more up right posture will help.
    6. Suspension. Yep, it sucks. Next!
    7. Price!! For almost $2K less than the standard bobber, I’m able to pay for all the mods I’ve mentioned. Well almost. Bottom line, great first investment to keep the cost down and make it your own.
Conclusion. Indian reliability and craftsmanship at a metric bike cost with lots of bar hopping torque. If you just want to ride around down town or country roads, it’s perfect (just watch out for RR crossings and potholes) or throw on a backpack for a weekend trip, you can’t beat it. Gonna keep mine for quite awhile!!

One note about the transmission, even though its a 5 speed, the only difference is they took 5th gear out of the 6 speed, so 5th speed on the scout 60 is actually 6th from the regular scout, so it can still run low RPMs on the highway.

    • @bobgoat5994
      @bobgoat5994 Před 4 lety +9

The final drive ratio of both the 6 speed and the 5 speed Scouts are the same but the actual gears are not. 5th gear on the 5 speed is 4.087, while the 6 speed's 5th gear is 4.439 and its 6th speed is, 3.810. They didnt simply remove 5th gear, but many describe it as though they have effectively removed 5th gear.(gear ratios are from Indian's website for 2020 scout sixty and scout)

The only bad thing is that I have a horrible oil leak. I got it home and saw that it was leaking from a oil sensor. Lost half a quart of oil... Not good but the dealership will be fixing that soon. Looking forward to another long ride on the 60 in a few weeks.

Love my 19 Scout! After nearly a grand on the odometer I can say with certainty it is the best (riding) cruisers I’ve ever owned. However, my softails were by far the best looking bikes I’ve ever owned. The Jewel of the Scout is that magnificent engine. It has a Jekyll and Hyde feel to it as in the motor is fine just puttering along but if you go pass 3500 rpms it seems to change from a cruiser to sportier bike.
The stock suspension is actually good and the stock seat is one of the best I’ve ever experienced. I can go 2 hours in the saddle without any pressure points. I also do mostly two up riding with my wife and she says it’s one of the most comfortable motorcycles she’s been on. My initial impressions of the Scout were confirmed and have also surpassed all my expectations.

Not riding so well when he's ripping through traffic back and forth and then he scoffs at the car that does a simple Lane change. So it's one set of rules for his riding and another set of rules for all the cars on the road.

y2ksilverado Yea, my Harley riding friends are all surprised by its get up and go.
I have mini apes, a Corbin seat and highway bars. It’s comfortable. Windy days take it out of me but on a bike that weighs 550 wet it’s not surprising.
Oh and put twin slash cuts on it.

Got a Bobber back in December two days before Bday. First bike and have maybe only skipped 7 or 8 days of riding due to extreme low temps or hard rain in the early mornings. Love the hell out of it! Can’t help but look back every time I leave it in the driveway/parking lot.

Love the Indian bobber. Probably the best from any large bike manufacturer. Only thing I don’t like are the forward controls. I absolutely hate forwards. Maybe the years of MX racing but I just don’t like not being able to control the bike with leg input or taking a bump full on through my backside.

I had some of the same gripes with the transmission it does not like to be shifted quickly. Slow Direct shifts are best for this transmission. Doing a few quick shifts every once in a while it would pop out of second gear from first to second but its not a race bike so... it is what it is.

I love the asthetic of the Scouts, honestly I'm too deep into Harley to move over to Indian (it happens when you're from Wisco-land) but if Harley ever went under and I was in the market for a run-around bike? I'd definitely highly consider this one.

@@hlmitchel 22 low rider S, and somewhat brand loyal, also very knowledgeable about my own skills in repair. I live within an hour of 3 separate harley dealers and within 2 hours of probably 4 more plus I know anywhere I go in the US I should be able to easily find a dealer if I run into an issue
As for age range I'm 35 with 3 years riding experience.

its a sweet cruiser! maybe a shock, exhaust changed out to better ones, and I heard the seat wasn't to great but upgrade that to a more cushion seat and your good to go! I think it has a usb port for phone or heated jacket, and if your hands get cold I think you can upgrade the handles for heated ones too.And wait until you hit 5000 miles on it then your power will feel total different. If your out there to cruse around town or take a small trip or two I'd get it, if your wanting a sport bike well it really depends on what you want! Get want you really want don't get want you think you need at the time, Get what you want!
