The last video that I put out regarding the electric fence wall threw up a lot of questions for everyone as to how safe Ghana is and why an electric fence wall is required. Hopefully, this video can answer some of your questions about the electric fence wall and building in Ghana.

I understand why many people in the western world are complaining about electric fence and burglar proof in homes in Ghana, because where they are coming from, the security system works 100 percent, you call 911 the police or emergency service comes within seconds or minute. In Ghana, the security system does not work, you will call the police you are even lucky for them to show up the same day or if they even pick up. Ghana is safe but there are organized crimes like armed robberies from time to time. I know a couple of people who were attack in their own house and I saw what they went through after. In Ghana you are on your own, so you must take your personal security serious.

In the main, Ghana is a safe and peaceful country. The use of various security measures such as burglar proofs, electric fence walls, barb wires, CCTV, etc. is akin to the use of security systems in most houses in developed countries. In other words, most houses in the developed world have their version of security systems. In the same vein, houses in Ghana also have their version of security measures in the form of the mechanisms noted above. This does not mean countries in developed and developing countries are unsafe. Rather, it means crime and petty theft can occur everywhere in the world. Therefore, it's better to be safe than to be sorry.

Simple and short, just as some countries in the West use CCTVs and burglary alarms as security systems for their house, the preferred security system for most houses in Ghana is the electric fence. Some newer houses now have CCTVs too. Just as some houses in the West do not care to use CCTVs, some houses in Ghana, especially outside Accra do not care to use electric fences. Ghana is generally safe, but safe doesn't means criminal activities such as burglary will not happen. So of course one needs to take precautions. Thanks for sharing💕!

    • @aberba

"Some houses outside Accra" is a bit misleading. Electric fencing is about 5000 cedis and many houses have then across Ghana.

Having been conditioned to be prepared for high levels of violent crime on occasional visits to Nigeria. From my perspective Ghana looks very safe, it may not be as safe as Rwanda but to me it's many times safer than Nigeria. In fact to have electric fence in Nigeria, you need your own power source as power supply is notoriously unreliable.
If Ghana was unsafe you would have returned to the UK, to "good old London".

Aren’t you defeating the purpose of your security by explaining how the system works? Perception plays a big role in security. The idea of an electric fence, whether on not it is actually turned on, will do more to deter will-be robbers than barbed wires, which can be easily cut without fear of being electrocuted. Frankly, your Safety and that of your family is your responsibility and shouldn’t be determined by anyone else’s opinion. Electric fences are used in homes in many parts of the world. The only way you get electrocuted is if you climb up that high fence and get in touch with those wires. Anyone who does that will get exactly what they deserve.

Not really because most people already know that the fence wire should not be on during the day time.

@@moretodela I understand, although some of those same people think you can be electrocuted by just walking by the fence. My overarching point is that Some safety mechanisms in security systems can also be areas of vulnerability in them and I think by publicly detailing those, you may be inadvertently exposing the vulnerabilities of the system you have to the public-which to me is like giving out your password. The myths about electric fences actually works to your advantage and I wouldn’t go out of my way to dispel them. No one needs to know how long the backup battery lasts on the system that you have after the public grid goes out or that the rubber attachment on the side of the wires prevents current from spreading to other surfaces. There is such a thing as too much information, and this to me is one of them-in my opinion.
You have a Beautiful family by the way and provide great content. Thank you for allowing me to share my views on your platform. They are just my opinion and are by no means gospel truths-well, maybe a little. I am rooting for you guys! I do know that People always assume that you are wealthy when you move back home, which makes you a target for thieves. Don’t worry about what others think when it comes to your family’s safety. Even movie stars in Hollywood have security systems including electric fences and nobody says they live in a bad neighborhood.
