“Shedding Skin” is a fantastic deep cut of Pantera’s….y’all should check out one of Phil’s other band DOWN….their debut album is “NOLA” & it’s right up y’all’s alley 🖤🥶
Shedding skin is by far my favorite Pantera song! You guys should definitely react to this one.
I've requested DOWN so many times here. Hopefully, they'll get to them soon.
Shedding skin is on my rotation for a work playlist always
What is that song from Down called? Breaking point maybe..short but badass
@@jasonbrown347 not sure. I'm a huge fan of Bury Me In Smoke
I dont think this album gets enough attention it was pretty damn good.
So many tunes from this could have easily been on vulgar
My fav Pantera album. Always been a hard take. Haha
9:05 Shout out to William Smith, who played Conan's Father in Conan the barbarian.
Pantera’s last album.. and they definitely saved their best album for last IMO. A banger of an album from start to finish!!
This was more a party album but Great Southern Treadmill is considered by purists to be their best album. Its definetly the darkest.
Hell yeah, this song is heavier than the heaviest matter in the universe (pun intended 😜). Next time you guys gotta check out "The Sleep", that song has one of Dimebag's best guitar solos he ever wrote!
I've been asking these boys to react to the Sleep for a LONG TIME!!!!!
Nah, The Thing That Should Not Be Live in Seattle 1989 is still heavier.
@@jhamilton1007 no metallica song comes close to how heavy pantera was. slaughtered, i’ll cast a shadow, suicide note part 2 just to name a few of the heaviest songs they ever wrote
@@ryanshultzmusic117 The Thing That Should Not Be begs to differ.
@@jhamilton1007lol, Pantera is way heavier
I’ve seen Pantera about 6 times and Phil’s mere presence of walking out on stage would start a pit! Music didn’t even start yet… he would walk out and everyone went apeshit! Tightest live band I’ve ever seen. Even when Phil was high as a kite he could throw the fuk down 🤘🏻🤘🏻
This album is fire, straight up. Sadly, it was the last one. After Pantera broke up, David Allan Coe recorded an album with Dime, Vinnie and Rex, "Rebel Meets Rebel".
Rebel Meets Rebel is badass!!
Cowboys Do More Dope!!
Damage Damageplan came after Rebel meets rebel I believe.
@@NolaNerd yep
" PANTERA! "
🤘🏻😸
R.i.P. - Dimebag Darrell & Vinnie Paul
" DEUCES! "
✌🏻😸✌🏻
Phil was a primal, long-haired death metal monster during 1998-2001 years. They were phenomenal during the last tour. Unfortunately those were the last days of Pantera:(
Hell yeah, the Killing in Korea concert from that era stands out, especially vocal wise.
That last tour they were fire
Phil with long hair looks scary as hell
No they weren't. Phil was doped up and drunk. His singing was not good live then. You could tell the band was going to break up.
Agreed saw they're last tour in Chicago All State Arena 7/3/01 Slayer Morbid Angel sick
This song is from their last studio album “Reinventing the Steel” & it came out in 2000 if I’m not mistaken,I saw them at that summers Ozzfest not knowing how much the world was about to change for everyone (pre-9/11) & Panteras last tour with those 4 dudes 😞🖤🥶
I saw them 3 times that tour. once at ozzfest then again with soulfly then one last time with slayer and static-x
If you boys haven't already, you need to react to Territory by Sepultura. The drums will melt your faces off.
You guys always have the best reactions to Pantera. You should continue on this journey. You won't be disappointed
Hell Yeah! Keep these Pantera reactions coming.
Since you recognized David Allan Coe in the video. Check out Rebel meets Rebel. It's an entire album of David Allan Coe on vocals and Pantera doing the music
Phil is a total boss!
After Pantera dimebag and Vinnie started a band called damageplan. They only made one album though called new found power.
I saw Pantera many times live. Phil was not only a great vocalist, he was very entertaining. And I have never seen a frontman control the attitude and atmosphere of a crowd like Phil did. Pantera was one of the tightest bands I had ever seen.
You could literally do a reaction to every song in their catalog, there were no bad songs, no fillers on their albums.
I saw Phil Anselmo doing a solo gig here in Chile on 2019 and i agree on that 100%, the crowd control that Phil has is beyond human, he oozes charisma
2000, final Pantera album. Also, you should check out the full version of the song, this one is cut for the music video. Cheers!
This is a tough one. I'm a huge Pantera fan, and not much of a Maiden fan. However, Bruce is ENORMOUSLY talented but I just think when it comes down to the entire body of work I would personally have to go with Pantera on this one. But this is close enough to make this Pantera fan have to really question it.
Great reaction again dudes 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 biiiiig greetings from Austria 🇦🇹
I've heard this song many times but, for some reason, I just realized how much you can hear Black Sabbath influence in this song. Am I the only one who has noticed this?
"Children of the grave" & alot of songs from paranoid. Yes. The groove is there for sure.
This is gonna be a tough competition, Phil Anselmo and Bruce Dickinson aren't even close to being in the same category but both are amazing vocalists within their particular styles. Can't wait for the Iron Maiden video later on today!! 🤘👍🤙🤙
for competing with Bruce, they should've done something like Medicine Man, Psycho Holiday, Power Metal, We'll meet again, etc.
@@tubelious well this is more towards Halford or Eric Adams than Bruce
Guys, Pantera is coming to my town! I'm gonna buy tickets the second they are on sale.
Got my pit tickets, dudes. 🤘
Yes!!!!that is one of the best live Pantera tracks I've heard!
They are considered the originators of groove metal....Dimebag loved KISS! And Phil did grow his hair out for this later album...
"Where you come from" is a b-side song that kills it. Never released on an actual album recorded in one take in studio no editing. RAW
I posted once that I was gonna get tattooed on my back "Revolution is My Name," my cousin responded he was gonna put on his back "No it's not, it's Jessi." 😂 fire reaction gentlemen 🤘
Love that you are wearing an Acid Bath shirt - amazing band, worth doing a deep dive into. Love your work guys
That Reinventing The Steel album (their last, from 2000) doesn't quite get the kudos that the other albums get, but it is full of absolute gems. Hellbound, Goddamn Electric, I'll Cast A Shadow, and my personal favourite...Yesterday Don't Mean Shit. THE song that helped me get thru a failed marriage and divorce. "Yesterday don't mean Jack shit!!" says Phil.
I saw this tour with Slayer and Static X opening. They were on fire that night.
Phil is indeed a great front man, but much like Bruce Dickinson, was often prone to going on (as Smokey said) long ass tirades several times a show. It's like "dude, shut the fuck up, I paid money to see y'all play some songs."
Yesterday don’t mean jack shit! Sick
One of their best songs.
This was on their last album together "Reinventing The Steel". I saw them on this tour in Kansas City. The pantera tribute just played here in Santiago for Knotfest and then another show at an arena! Pantera live was a different experience in 90's ! Keep killing it guys!
I saw them in KC twith Slayer, Static X and Morbid Angel. Phil was drunk and slurring his words. Slayer is much better live.
I saw them with Soulfly at the American Royal for the supporting tour for reinventing the steel. Phil was on point that night. I did see Phil on a down tour and he was all sorts of boozed up. I agree Slayer is a monster live.
I was at that show in Kansas City. It was insane....
Did you see the new Pantera tribute show?? Looks absolutely sick now that Zakk has learned the parts a little better. The one band I truly regret not having experienced live, I was thinking this may be my last chance to even see a semblance of them. I am also a big Led Zeppelin fan, far too young to have saw them live though. In the early 90s I was fortunate enough to catch the Page/Plant tour, not Zeppelin, but as close as I was going to get to it. Catching the pantera tribute show would be the equivalent of that.
@@stephenhood2948 unfortunately I couldn't afford the tickets and did not make it to either show here in Santiago Chile. It did make some headlines with a street artist breathing fire while people were moshing around him!
Hollywood, it’s so good to hear your progression into metal. You sayin, “man listen to this time change” has certified you as a true fan of music. Well done boys. Keep it up
They did a record with David Alen Coe right around the same time. It's called Rebel meets Rebel. Check some out.
PanterA Above All!! Rip Vinnie and Dime.
Morning guys! Hell ya! Some Pantera! I love Phil's voice and so miss dimebag!( Love love love his guitar riffs. R.I.P.)Great choice to get one up and moving in the morning fellas!🤓❤️🤘
Strength beyond strength-pantera
Their final album.
Underrated AF. It’s one of my favourites. They brought the groove back.
Pantera`s album "Vulgar Display of Power" sums it all up...that title is exacly what Pantera is!!! Badass....
I'm with Smokey on this one. Pantera is king of their own landscape. Groove metal all the way
He's a decent guitar player too. It's rare that he plays on stage but he can shred.
It’s ironic they had a short clip of Bruce being part of the revolution
Ahahahahaa! Smokey got me remembering the skit, "Can I have yo number?"
Pantera, fucking one of the best bands ever! They will live on in the music..
You can never go wrong with a Pantera song.
Their best song ever! Came out in 2000.
TEXAS! Got to see them 7 times right here in the home state! First time was in a small club in the very early 90’s right before Vulgar came out and it was audio, visual, peel your face back, overload! Hands down the best small show I’ve ever seen. They absolutely BLASTED!
I would love 2 see yall react to Pantera's song called "FLOODS" off of the Great Southern Trendkill album.
There are 2 versions of the song.
One with an extended outro and a shorter radio edit.
the unedited song is about 7 mins long.
it's an emotional masterpiece that shows the whole band's ability and depth in their crafts.
The outro portion of the song makes me tear up every time I hear it because Dimebag wrote that outro when he was 17 years old as a Lullaby to help his lifelong girlfriend Rita sleep at night. They were together since they were early teens, and the song has a cult following in itself. It's the one song I never got to hear live, and it makes sad I will never be able to hear live.
The best thing about Pantera is how you can pick up any of their studio albums and let it play start to finish without any regrets. No matter what, you will have a great time!
Hell of a track, we used to play this in highschool....damn im old. Lol
The first time I met Phil, Dime asked if I’d met the new singer, which I hadn’t, he walked to the bar at the Basement, lifted this guys head up by his hair, made him meet me, then let go of his hair. His face smashed firmly on the bar. It was still daylight, the club hadn’t even opened yet. Phil…great front man. Dime, nicest guy ever.
Phil had long perm hair from mid 80's to 1988.
Long flat hair until 1990, with shaved side by late 1989, few dread locks in early 1990.
And Mohawk from 1990-1991.
Shaved head in late 1991 to 1994.
Re grew hair in 1995, sclap long hair in 1996-1998, long hair complete like old school from 1998-2003.
Long hair mowak in 2004 etc...
A list of all of Phil's bands he was in
Razor White
PANTERA
Down
Superjoint Ritual
Viking Crown
Christ Inversion
Necrophagia
Body & Blood
Eibon
Southern Isolation
Scour
Arson Anthem
Phillip H Anselmo and the Illegals
En Minor
And supposedly another supergroup called "Tapeworm" with Maynard James Keenan, Trent Reznor,Danny Lohner, and Page Hamilton to list a few...... Did I miss any?
This is one of the best riffs in heavy metal history imho
That breakdown guitar solo is beyond sick
A lot of people don't know they were actually a friggin "Glam band" before Phil came on 🤣
So I'd have to say, Revolution is THEIR Name!
There's videos here on CZcams.
Phil doesn't get enough credit for this bands successes. Yes the Abbott Brothers were GREAT! But Phil completely brought the new sound to them and rocked it!
If you really wanna see the power of their live performance, check out becoming live from Holland in 1998, it's got professional sound desk audio
Just found out they are one of the headliners of the festival I'm going to on September.
Song: “Use My Third Arm” nuff said.
GAWDDAMN rights...MORE PANTERA!👍🤘
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...Pantera's We'll grind that axe for a long time. Support from Canada 🇨🇦 ❤️ 🇺🇸
There is and will always be one #1 LEad Singer. David Lee Roth and everyone else tries to be that insane.
One of my top five Pantera songs.
i may be bias i may choice having many interactions with Phil and the brothers in my younger years, But i am a huge maidens and Samson fan, Phil would be my choice for the fact he truly has a powerful performance on stage, rather it was with pantera ( old and new) down or SJR, the energy at the shows are some of the most amazing event i have ever attended. even if he was have a bad day due to his demons, but on the other hand the perfection of the sound you get from Bruce is unmatched i have seen him at least 8 times and he always sounds accurate to the music....but hay that is just my option i could be wrong
He did grow it up later, yeah. Phil started growing his hair back I believe since 96, and kept it long until… 2010 I think, only keeping the neck beard until 2004 I believe. Then he started to rock his shaved head again until today, letting the neck beard come back occasionally.
Corey Taylor and Phill best front men I've seen.. Russia concert was sic Pantera kicked arse an riots due to the power of the Pantera an only 21yrs old... Pure Power
DO MORE PANTERA REACTS!!
My first ever gig was the reinventing the steel tour. 14 year old mes mind was blown
I love the acid bath shirt you have on such a underrated band
Y'all should check out the album version the opening is fire
What is my naaaaame!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I'd recommend a quick listen to the studio version as well. Nothing major, but just like the official video for Cemetery Gates, this video cuts off Dimebag's guitar intro. It's similar to Cemetery Gates in that it comes in with Dime just screeching and then drops into how the song started here.
Your guys' banter is amazing!
5:48 Thank you Smokey. Regardless of whether Pantera is thrash, groove metal, southern fried blues metal or what have you, before them came Testament, Exodus, Overkill and Obituary is death metal not thrash.
Also gotta get to Phil's most savage vocal performance with Pantera, Fuckin Hostile, one of my favorites Mouth for War, and the official video for Piss will make you want to get punched in the face and wish you had long hair
Or better yet, how about some of Phil's work outside of Pantera? Down has some good ones: Stone the Crow, Bury Me in Smoke, Ghosts Along the Mississippi
There's also Superjoint Ritual: Waiting for the Turning Point, The Alcoholic, Personal Injury
phil is the man he a rock legend
He grew his hair out during that era of the band. He had long hair for the the first couple of years in the band and then shaved it. Phil is a unique talent for sure.
That song was actually off of Pantera's final studio album, "Reinventing The Steel". If you want earlier Pantera, you're probably wanting something off of the "Cowboys From Hell" or "Vulgar Display Of Power" album.
Yoooooo, my man representing Acid Bath? That’s amazing. Not very many people know of them nowadays.
Hey Guys, GREAT reaction channel!!!
You two Guys make my day when I watch your reactions.
Kudos!
Would you two PLEASE consider reacting to the "Head East", song, "Don't let me sleep in the morning"?
It's a legitimate BANGER!
I've NEVER seen anyone else ever do it.
If so, thanks in advance!
Rock on!
Digging the Acid Bath shirt. Those guys are from my home town and used to watch them practice in the garage.
This is from the last Pantera album.
A few snippets of Sabbath, the progenitors of the complex groove that Pantera continued.
One of their best songs 🤘
Y'all should have listened to the full version of the song. This one is missing the entire intro and the second pass of the breakdown riff with the cowbell. They play it twice (not once, as heard in this video cut). Pantera never stopped developing. RTS is an incredible piece of music. Phil is arguably the best front man ever.
Pantera-“Enough said”🎸🥁🎤🎸🤘✌️🖖
Reinventing the Steel, released March of 2000
Pantera were like the masters of timing/transitions..I wonder if thats in part because you have siblings on percussion and guitar? Sympatico with an occasional sibling rivalry at play? Best metal band ever IMO..A "psycho holiday" reaction would be a good one
Something said in every Pantera song, "just wait for it!"......
This is the 4th album with Phil.
It's actually the sixth with Phil Beginning with with Power Metal in 1988 and finishing with this one in 2000
Seen this tour in Kansas City with Soulfly. It was epic. May have been the LSD but it was by far one of the best concerts I've been to. Lol.
Phil has been on record when he ranks Pantera’s albums he puts this one number one
I fucking love that Acid Bath shirt, much respect fellas
Fuck ya!! HAPPY FRIDAY!! CFH GETCHYA PULL
Animal Style Fries have 1000-Island, Cheese, and Onions. Those jokers hit hard.
Bruce's Body of Work is better, but I'll like both videos.
Yall gotta do Mouth for War
I saw Pantera in 91 or 90 with Suicidal Tendencies and exodus that was one of the most awesome mosh pits I've ever been in people getting hurt in all the right ways
For David Allen Coe, Check out the side-project the Abbot brothers had called "Rebel meets Rebel".
Nice Acid Bath shirt!! Not sure if y'all knew, but the guitarist of Acid Bath (Sammy Duet) formed Goatwhore after their bassist, Audie Pitre died, and Acid Bath split up. You should check them out. They rock!!
You guys should react to strength beyond strength too its 🔥🔥
You should do pantera song called "death rattle". It's a sick song and used in one of spongebob episodes
This is later Pantera. This is their most underrated song, imo. It’s not in most people’s top 5 pantera songs, and it should be. It’s later, but it feels like the bands earlier stuff.
A lot of this album feels like their early stuff, death rattle for instance
@@DjDown1984 Yeah Reinventing The Steel has a Project in the Jungle vibe... What do you mean that album sounds like their early stuff?
@@butchvito I mean cowboys/vulgar, death rattle sounds straight outta that era as does some others off rts
@@DjDown1984 RTS is more metal-ish like the early albums but the lower tunings, Phil's vocal style, etc sounds more like an amalgamation of all their albums.
@@wizard3817 bang on dude
A New Level is 🔥🔥🔥
Van canto is a amazing band
Went and saw them right after this album came out. They played with Soulfly and Morbid Angel. I caught Vinnie's drumstick.
