- This is the theme music to the NBC-TV game show "Password Plus", first hosted by Allen Ludden, then Bill Cullen and finally Tom Kennedy. This version ran from 1979-1982. The music is by Score Productions.
Thanks for the memories Allen Ludden, Bill Cullen, Tom Kennedy, and Burt Convy. We miss you gentlemen!
It was sad to see him fall ill and die during the show's run.I remember him missing some shows and him coming back and telling everyone about tests being done on him Alan Ludden really was Mr Password

I'd say that out of all the PW hosts, Tom Kennedy was the only one who gotten the chance to interact w/ all the PW hosts. He was a celeb player w/ Allen Ludden on P+ and even Bert Convy on SP. He hosted Bert Convy, Bill Cullen and even future WWTBaM and Million Dollar Password host Regis Philbin when they were celeb players during his time as host of P+.

I agree - that made Password Plus so much more eye-catching and thus memorable. I would rewind it several times just to catch the intro with the synchronated lighting of the word password with the music.

To Operator35. Thank goodnees you loaded this up on CZcams. It's a shame Varese Sarabande Records and GSN didn't think of coming up with third volume CD of game show themes. This would have been a perfect choice for such a collection.

Trivia: Allen Ludden hosted the original incarnation of the show called 'Password' and he hosted the more popular version *IMHO* Password Plus.
RIP Mr.Ludden you're truly missed, the gameshows of today couldn't even compare to you're glasses, thats how good of a host you were.

Password Plus had the shortest run of all of the Password shows on daytime TV. It lasted 3 years on NBC (1979-82). By contrast, the original Password on CBS lasted 6 years (1961-67), Password on ABC ran for 4 years (1971-75, including Password All-Stars), and Super Password on NBC lasted 5 years (1984-89). Note that I didn't include Million Dollar Password on CBS (2008), because that was on for a very short 2 seasons in primetime. The original Password's nighttime version on CBS ran from 1962-67, 5 years.
Password Plus would've lasted much longer if Allen Ludden hadn't have died.
I don't know. Allen was really sick. He had inoperable cancer. NBC never gave the show a good time slot.
lakebay972 I think the really reason is stopped was because it was on at the same time as Family Feud and The Young and the Restless.
I’m not sure, but it always seemed as though “Password Plus” had lousy time slots on NBC, either against the second half of “The Young and the Restless (in most areas) OR against the second half of “The Price is Right”
I love the electric piano solo in this song!
The unedited version of the theme (or an alternate mix of some sort) has a flute solo as well. Part of it can only be heard while watching episodes of the show as the original recording is long gone.
@@LeoVargas94Oficial Hard to believe the original recording no longer exists. Whoever curates the Score Productions archives, I would think it is still kept there.

This is my personal favorite version of all the versions of "Password"! "Password Plus" took the passwords and formed a Password Puzzle out of it. The lightning round was renamed Alphabetics. Allen Ludden returned as host yet again!
I know GSN isn't what it used to be when you were little but still, isn't it great to watch the classics we grew up with? I was two when this show premiered.

Long live the late ‘70’s. I don’t remember the original Password from the early ‘70’s; but I do remember Password Plus from the late ‘70’s.

I thought Allen Ludden was an excellent host of Password Plus, and Gene Wood did an excellent job as the announcer for Password Plus! May they both RIP.

At 0:45, you see the Queen of Password (and all game shows in my opinion) with the current host of Million Dollar Password. This was my favorite theme of all the Password game shows...great post!

Allen Ludden was married to Betty White from 1963 until Allen Ludden's death from stomach cancer at age 53 on June 9, 1981.
After reviving a few game shows such as Match Game, To Tell the Truth, and $100,000 Pyramid, I think this would be a good one to revive as well. A few other good ones I can think of include Press Your Luck, Card Sharks, Sale of the Century, and Blockbusters.
You are right, but we also need Concentration, Tic Tac Dough, Hollywood Squares, Tattletales, 1 vs. 100, Lingo, and many more... We have had The Joker's Wild with Snoop Dogg on TV.

@fbakerwitz Once a production company realizes that Million Dollar Money Drop did everything wrong (strung out game, obnoxious players), we might be headed in the right direction. NBC's got a new show coming out that's not going to do much better, I predict.
CBS turned their back on The Cube, which is along the lines of primetime, but far awesomer than they realized. Not every primetime show is rubbish.

@StukInBuf I'd prefer the networks bring back long-running classics. So while you have a lot of shows I like as well, I think it would only make sense to bring back shows like Password, Match Game, H2, Pyramid, and Card Sharks.
