    I also have been learning Somali. I have lots of friends from Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Somali. Some are like family. It was hard at first, but got easier as I went along. It's the structure of the sentences that tend to be confusing at times.

    This is the second language I'm learning. I live in Columbus Ohio, and there are many Somalians here, I also work with many people from Somalia. So I thought I could try to learn a little. Everyone is very surprised when I start speaking their language.

If you're serious about knowing Somali please find more of the ancient history and language, in Somalia there is average or street language and a formal Somali language. Much Love

    We have ''please'' in somali.. i know coz i am a linguist... here is how we say please in somali...... Sug means wait... but sug is aggrasive and commanding.. but '' iisug'' also mean wait but this time it is softer, kinder and requesting.... majority of somalis dont know this but those of u who read this know now

      Just add ''ii'' infront of the verb.......ii sameey. ii kaadi, ii seexo, ii cab, ii cun,...
      The '' ii '' stands for 'please, requesting and kindness while saying sameey ,sug, seexo, cab, cun is the opposite

    I have a new Somali student in my class who speaks no english yet and I want to communicate with him, this helped loads! Is there any way you could give me a few more phrases I could use for example, 'do you need the toilet?', 'time to tidy up!', 'can you come here' or 'are you ok?' he's only 4!     Bro, been following you and did not know in col, Ohio. Adding to this topic, CZcams my boy (Moses McCormick) he's African American and he's a polyglot (speaks alot of languages). Check his channel as he travels around Columbus speaking all these languages with native speakers. He also sells his own language learning software as a full-time business.
