    Amazing. Thanks truly a lot for your channel and your videos. I watch every night. I'm italian guy 34years old struggling hard with heroin Addiction. Lot of trauma and emotional isolaton inside me, since I was a little beautiful boy. Monday morning I have an appointment to go into rehab. Very close to where I live here in Italy so thats good I guess. I'm ready to change my life but I'm very aware I need help, I just cant do it on my own. I'm all by myself. But I'm confident. Hope they let me in into rehab as soon as they can. Thanks again for your videos, I'm also reading The Myth of Normal just started it but already so good❤

      100% agree I used to have Psychosis and paranoid thoughts like "people thinking about me talking about me etc. Very odd behavior after getting off Adderall from 7-16. Antidepressants at 18-29. 31 now. I took way to much, but took about 20g of Gold caps (Psilocybin containing mushroom) I analyzed my entire life. The emotions that came out helped me understand behavior etc more. Wont ever need to do it again because I'm happy and contempt forever, but I wish more people did this to alter their perception of reality. Would help with healing much trauma

    The desire to fit in, to be accepted and liked at the expense of one's true identity is a setup for depression and anxiety.

  • @gainsbourg66
    @gainsbourg66 Před 6 měsíci +38

    I have been a full-time therapist for 27 years. Anxiety and depression are two different things - which is why they have different names. Depression is almost always caused by loss, failure, shattered dreams, disillusion or a combination. Acute anxiety is normal, Chronic anxiety is caused by unremitting stress, or more likely, obsessive, repeated thoughts such as worrying or rationalising. If you think anxious thoughts too often, they begin to occur automatically and an anxiety state can begin. The cure is to find a way of ignoring those thoughts and learn to cope better with problems, fear and stress.
    The cure for depression is acceptance, gratitude, nature, physical exertion and loving, non directive, support. Sympathy is worth much more than just empathy. Writing out your thoughts and/or story can also help with depression, loss and heartbreak. Acceptance is key. Any creative activity, if possible, like art, poetry or music will help - sometimes a new type is the only one that may appeal.

      @@robynhope219Of course, there's a cure for depression; I got over a major one. First, you need to identify the root and the trigger of the illness, and then develop a personalized approach to address those underlying issues. Self-knowledge is crucial.

      It seems you mean well, but that’s just not right. The things you list only sometimes work for people with mild or moderate symptoms. Giving someone the skills to cope with a lifelong disability is not a cure. And if your leg were badly broken, and I handed you a cane and told you that the cure is acceptance, you would sue me on the way to the orthopedist. Be better.

    Anxiety is taught to us. As small children, when traumatized, abused and neglected, we dont understand why it is happening to us. We cant find a pattern or reason for our pain. We are made to hurt when are good as well as bad. When you cant detect where and when the next hurt is coming from you end on alert all of the time. You lesrn to remain constantly wary for the next bad thing.
    The other affect of not understanding why it is happening to us is depression. We are taught that we are the bad ones. Not our abusers. We learn to never be happy because something always happens that ruins it and gives us pain.
    Depeession and anxiety are not genetic. They are almost universally taught by life and our caregivers.
    Show me an anxious person, a depressed person, a drug addict and I'll show you someone who was traumatized, neglected and abused as a small child.

      Thank you for sharing such an insightful and profound reflection. Your words resonated deeply, emphasizing the long-term impact of trauma on our lives. True, the roots of anxiety and depression frequently trace back to our early experiences, which shape our perception of the world. Your insights into how we learn these emotions rather than being born with them brought light on the importance of understanding and compassion. Breaking the cycle of pain necessitates identifying the source and figuring out how to heal. Your willingness to discuss these difficult topics is very valuable. Remember that you are not alone on this journey, and your bravery in sharing helps many people gain a better understanding. I wish you courage and healing.💕💖🙏

    "Anxiety" is the word we use to describe how we FELL when our stress response is triggered and our "toxic culture" causes massive over stimulation of our stress response, this depletes our brain's supplies of the "feel-good" brain chemicals dopamine, serotonin, endorphins, etc., and we experience "depression", which is why physicians are prescribing ever more anti-depressants, as they restore (temporarily) these same chemicals. Lots of good research on noise stress and its impact (negative) on health. I live in Marietta, OH, and, sadly, the main river road runs right through the center of town, which explains why so many folks seem to be yelling at one another, even when in a quiet room. So many have damaged hearing. Just Google "noise and heart disease" to scare the crap out of you and support your move to a quieter place. I did this and love my little QUIET apt. across from Mound Cemetery. Never rowdy at night or day, but I have to use ear plugs whenever I walk because of the loud vehicles and the clatter of the brick streets. Good Luck!@@colmrooney414

      @@colmrooney414Hi. Maybe not a cave, but maybe some place away from all that noise. Its great leaving a stressful place. If you are phisically able to live by your own or even with your fammily or friends în some countryside place..do it. Forgive what you have to forgive. Do breath work, listen to calm music, watch old comedies and establish a relationship with God. I know, I know...we dont believe I Him anymore ..but He is real. And He does love us. We had to be put here to realise what we are missing. With time we just became meaner because we lost our connection with Him . We invented other gods that did no good to us and we became worse for they were not showing us the real way. But He loves us and you can seek Him right now and do what He wants us to do. You will fall, but you can come back up. No matter what happens, dont forget He is there with you. Focus on that and know our Lord Jesus is the way. I am telling you this from experience. I searched alot only to find out that He îs what He says He is. I searched through many cultures and many ways and I know I telling you the truth. Wishing you all the best. And one more thing, we dont have that much time, so call Him now if you havent. What is în front of us all its no joke and He is the way to life, He has always been the only way.

    I have to disagree with the claim that the term "depression" refers to "pushing down" emotions, as in repressing them. "Depression" refers to persistent low mood. There's an argument to be made that repression of painful feelings and memories can contribute to depression, but that's a different issue.

The outcome of this and my inability to balance minor transgressions of the mind with what the Church described as ultra serious. The net result was a constant state of anxiety and a feeling of utter worthlessness. Still affects me to this day. The Church has a lot to answer for. Hence my long since not being a practising Catholic.

    When I left home to go to Uni my housemates were puzzled that I had never learned to play games like Monopoly or Drafts or Cards etc. This was when I began to see the extreme neglect I'd suffered as a child. As the youngest of 4 children nobody had ever read me a bed time story, played games with me, taught me to tie my shoe laces or brush my teeth ! I'd always felt like a ghost in my own life - unseen, unheard except when scolded, criticised or ridiculed for any assertion of my own needs. Many of us suffer life long because of the neglect and or abuse we were subjected to as children. You can alleviate the symptoms, learn to function better but the lack of love at this crucial stage in development never fully resolves.

He said I needed antibiotics to kill bad gut bacteria. I refused, as antibiotics can kill good bacteria too and effect mood. Years later, I took a bucket load of antibiotics for a nasty sinus infection. The Colombian was right. I can now eat whatever I want and have been depression-free for years. How can someone reverse the affects if they Ferberized a baby who may get anxiety from time to time as a 20 year old later in life? Also , if otherwise a loving , caring , secure attachment to the parent could later anxieties be unrelated to the early “ let them sooth themselves sometimes “ approach?

    • @yourinnerchildmatters
      @yourinnerchildmatters  Před 9 měsíci

      I understand your concern, and it's important to remember that anxiety in adulthood can be influenced by a variety of things, including early parenting approaches. It's also important to note that a loving and caring bond to parents can play an important part in shaping a person's emotional well-being. Many factors contribute to anxiety, making it difficult to reverse the effects of Ferberizing or any specific parenting technique in adulthood. Seeking help from a mental health professional can be very helpful if someone is experiencing anxiety. They can help in exploring the underlying reasons of anxiety and developing appropriate coping methods, regardless of previous experiences.
      It is never too late to improve one's personal well-being and emotional health, and getting professional help is a great step toward a better and healthier life.🙏✨💖🥰

    Behind every depressed person is a Narcissist parent who has no connection or love or concern or affection towards the child except only towards themselves all the time. No one is born depressed, it is solely an unhappy uncared for parent or parents.
    Thus you need to do a Forest Gump on your parents, both of them, because they are both sick, and find a community or Church where you are accepted and loved unconditionally.

    I appreciate the inner child work and understand how it can release trauma. I have a question though - how do you heal the trauma you may be carrying through previous lifetimes? How does inner child work address that?

    • @yourinnerchildmatters
      @yourinnerchildmatters  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Thank you for your thoughtful question! Inner child work primarily focuses on healing and nurturing your present lifetime's wounded aspects. When it comes to healing trauma from earlier lifetimes, though, the approach may differ.
      While inner child work does not directly address past life trauma, some feel that unresolved difficulties from before lives could come back as inner child wounds in this lifetime. In this scenario, the two approaches can be complementary.Many spiritual and therapeutic approaches are often explored in order to clearly deal with trauma from before lives. Past life regression therapy, meditation, energy healing, and studying your own spiritual beliefs can all be used to enter into this aspect of healing. It's important to note that ideas on past lives and their impact differ greatly, so finding an approach that resonates with you is key.
      The ultimate goal is to locate therapeutic modalities that match with your personal values and resonate with your inner journey. Integrating several modalities, such as inner child work and understanding past life trauma, can result in a comprehensive road to healing and growth. Remember that healing is a deeply personal process, so take your time to discover what feels best for you.🌱💫 💖

    I love how he debunked the fact mental illness isn't always genetic. So much of this video goes against what medical mental health professionals are taught and they're the ones that are expected to fix you? This thing about depression being a chemical imbalance is BS!
