    The man introducing them is "Mr Manchester" Tony Wilson he discovered and signed Joy Division and The Happy Mondays, he owned Factory Records one of the most famous clubs in Manchester The Haçienda and Madchester was born. There is a good biopic film about him called 24 Hour Party People where Steven Coogan (Alan Partridge) plays him.

      @@trevordoolan5011 It was a personal vendetta not because of the roses but because of the people they worked with, the first label they signed to thin line was owned by the original label manager for factory as well as former factory in house producer martin hannett. He wanted to stick it to the people who used to work with him so took it out on the roses, its all in original stone roses, smiths, and later drummer for the fall Simon Wolstencroft's book.

    The Stone Roses evolved from a post-punk sound into an indie/psychedelic/pop vibe which took in elements of rave culture. Their first album is a classic. Ian Brown was always the weak link but his swagger and charisma compensated for his lack of vocal ability.

    • @trufflehund
      @trufflehund Před rokem

      Liam Gallagher copied Brown's moves and style of dress, so without him we don't have Oasis as we know them.

    The guy in grey is called Cressa. He didn’t do much apart from dance, and I don’t think he was an official member. On the other hand, the band Happy Mondays (who you have reacted to, and we’re The Roses’ Madchester peers) had an even more crazy dancer guy, called Bez. He was actually an official member, and pretty much summed up Happy Mondays. You should do more Mondays, their tracks “Loose Fit” and “Mad Cyril” and “24 Hour Party People” are great, and would make a great reaction!

    Tony Wilson (the guy introducing them) mentions that he didn't really like The Stone Roses for 5-6 years until this track from 89. This was largely due to the Roses early stuff lacking in direction and their sound wasn't really good and songs were a little all over the place. As a result they weren't that well known outside of Manchester (where Tony "Mr Manchester" Wilson is from, and he knew the local scene very well, see 24 Hour Party People and Factory Records). However, this all changed when Mani joined the band and brought his influences in and added much needed harmony to the tracks they were doing.

    Would you ever do an album review (stone roses) or that too long lol. The studio/album version of this is great if you haven’t heard it!

    This was 90s Britain being invented lol. Not surprising that Ian's vocal is so low, he was a NIGHTMARE for sound engineers, always criticising, complaining and falling out with them so it was probably deliberate 😆
    The long outro was originally just a freeform jam at the end of one of the takes in the studio that ended up being kept in.
